I know the chances of anything happening are very small , but a woman at my mums work had 4 miscarriages then went on to carry a baby to full term. She had a forceps delivery and sadly her little boy died. Shes nvr tried again as she was so heart broken. Forceps are banned from use in most countries apart from the UK. I do not want them , would rather have the hoover ..... em ventouseThanks to MSE for making it possible for me save to buy my new flat , yay !!

I don't want forceps - OH's cousin has a huge scar on his face from being delivered by forceps - I know a scar is nothing compared to losing your child but if at all possible I would avoid them like the plague.:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0

I've read some of the forceps horror stories. I'd rather have the c-section. I may be in the minority there but the fact they have to cut you to do either makes me uncomfortable. It's partly due to fact that I'd worry it could impact badly on my bowel issues. Mummy to an amazing little girl0

Hi all,
Great to have a proper catch up on the latest postings - want to say a massive congrats to Giz and Chakani - you must be exhausted ladies but also so proud and happy!
Apricot I agree with you re MIL - don't want anyone at my birth apart from OH and maybe my mum is she is able to reach hospital in time.
We are still undecided as to how soon people can visit, but I imagine I'll be much blunter and more direct the closer we get so it, so all panics about diplomacy will be out the window...
Dusty I can empathise with your comments about not feeling anything yet - this year has been a mad rush for me and I don't get much more than 5 minutes to think straight, or plan baby things etc. So much work and little time to sit back and relax planning mummy-hood, I just don't see how anyone would have the time and admit to being a bit jealous. I think over the coming few months things will calm down, plus they will have to, but we need to earn as much cash as we can whilst we still can sort of thing. I want to bond more with baby and did feel quite emotional at the scan and then again last week at hearing the heartbeat for the first time, but apart from that it's life as usual, especially as I can't feel baby moving yet. Don't worry yourself - every one of us will feel slightly differently and bond differently at various stages and I am sure none of it is right or wrong. I never bonded with my mum for my first 3 months as was in an incubator, so I think it's why I haven't quite had a great relationship with her or felt I was the baby-wanting type... but now it's happening I hope things will be different and I can bond with baby alot and so can my mum, balance things out I guess!:):)

Can they do a ventouse on a breech baby? My hospital prefers the ventouse to forceps but I would have thought the ventouse wouldn't work quite the same on a baby's bottom as it does on the head.Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

I'm also hoping this baby brings me closer to my mum. she is fab and will make a great nanna and I love her dearly but i do take her for granted and I'm mean to her sometimes (moan when she wants a lift anywhere, rarely go round to visit, always moan when she tries to offer me advice).
I am a spoilt only child and can be a complete b1tch to her sometimes. I'm very much me, me, me (as you may tell) - this may also be a reason why I'm worried about bonding with bubs, i'm just thinking at the moment about ghow much disruption will be brought to my door.
I'm hoping this baby makes me realise how bl00dy brilliant my mum is and I stop taking her for granted (well until I need a babysitter obvs)
