Supermaiden - I've had protein in my urine for ages, they sent my sample off for testing but didn't find anything, so it seems to be just one of those things. My GP did say it's worth making sure your BP is checked whenever you see a medical person, just to be on the safe side, but really not to worry. (They freaked me out on Monday but checking 2 samples and my BP twice but it was fine, just being overcautious!) And the fastest mw to find bumps heartbeat was the one in triage, all the others seem to take a while, but I do have an anterior placenta.
I currently have a back and a bum being shoved out of my bump and am quite often getting an arm or a foot shoved out the side too!
My best pregnancy thing was actually free, I got a Theraline pillow to review and it's fab. It's shaped, but filled with microbeads and moulds to lots of different shapes and is so comfy.
I have physio this afternoon so hoping that'll help the PGP a bit, my tailbone is the worst at the moment.
Hope all is okay Lirin.
DP - Congratulations! Mummy to an amazing little girl0 -
Morning all
TMI alert!hope someone can reassure me, down below feels funny and sort of swollen more at one side is this normal i didnt have this last time I was pregnant
OMG how embarrassing
xxx
High than usual blood supply to that region is normal and can cause swollen veins, extra fluid build up.. a bit of bedroom activity can aggravate it too.. but so can thrush which isn't always associated with symptoms! It may also be a prolapse.
I'd leave it a day or 2 and see if it clears up itself and get it checked if it gets worse or sore or whatever..LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Lirin - hope it goes well at the hospital, like the others have said its probably about the twins
Sandy - thats about all the midwife did at my 16 week appointment! Although she did sort out my physio referral too.
My consultants appointment went well yesterday. She's happy for me to try to deliver naturally which I'm pleased about. She's also asked me to take part in a clinical trial. Apparently I'm at higher risk of going into preterm labour due to a history of dodgy smear tests and bits of cervix being removed over the past few years and they are trialling some hormone treatment that they think will help with this. I'm a bit unsure - I'd like to be able to help in any small way I can and usually would say yes immediately but involvement in this particular trial wouldn't just be me, its on my baby too....lots to think about...

Winnie In Pooh, if it helps to ease your worries, I am a clinical trial manager. The GP should have given you an information sheet which details exactly why the trial is being run and what involvement you will have. If you have any concerns about the welfare of your baby you should ask ask ask. It sounds like the trial is preventing early labour which is always a good thing for baby. Also, if you do join, by law you at entitled to withdraw from the trial at any point if you wish to do so.
I know there are quite a few trials at the moment to do with pregnancy. I know someone who is working on a trial investigating the optimum length of time it should be before the cord is clamped for nutrient flow. I'm working on a migraine related trial at the moment so nothing that interesting.
If you have any questions, I'm happy to help.0 -
Winnie.. my sis was having treatment on her cervix throughout her pregnancy and they said she was at risk of delivering preterm.. she had a section 12 days overdue after she failed to dilate.. Given they don't actually know what triggers labour it is highly unlikely they can make such sweeping assumptions.. I've only got to full term once so am supposedly 'high risk' too.. taken with the pinch of salt and a slice of lemon..
.. The only reason they came up with for me was I make 'thin membranes' ... yeah ok... like I'm meant to believe that rubbish! .. it is one of the things they look at when they deliver so they can make sure they got all the bits..
And you have just summed up why so many safe drugs are not licensed for during pregnancy.. people don't want to trial them in case they do affect the baby.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Sorry I meant to say earlier that if you are waiting on being seen by physio it may be best to check whether your area operates a self referral system. I was referred by consultant and was seen within hours but was told that in this area the normal maternity procedure is self referral and you will be seen within a week. For anybody waiting to be seen may be worth calling to check procedure because a paper referral may end up never actually being collected or dealt with.0

6 week waiting list here which is why I had them do the referral at 10 weeks... which they 'lost' (or rather binned!!!!) no self referral for anything.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Winnie I can't comment on the trial as I have not read any of the data....but what I can tell you is that I had 2 lots of LETTS carried out between my 1st and 2nd pregnancy in what was considered a risky place concerning viability of 2nd pregnancy. As things turned out although he was preterm he was not as early as his older brother and was delivered in perfect health. Please don't get stressed about it definitely causing preterm labour as this is not a definite.....the horrid internal scans to check on cervix do however seem to be!
