You use about 500 calories a day when exclusively breastfeeding, so you can eat extra to normal and still lose weight while doing it. I was really hungry all the time but I do generally have a good appetite and must have a pretty good metabolism. I would say I had a healthy diet though.0

I never lost an ounce while breastfeeding... but it mostly came off after I stopped. I average about 800-1000 calories an average day

Re the weight gain I have gained about a stone and a half (not sure what that is in kg) and I am 32 weeks.
In past pregnancies I have gained 2 stone and 2 and half stone with DS but have lost the majority of it in the first 6 months.
It's interesting to read that somebody on here mentioned losing weight when breastfeeding - I didn't get that far with it myself but my sis put on lots of weight while feeding all 4 of her children as she said she was always so much hungrier than usual.
Probably one of those things like the weight gain in pregnancy that's different for everybody.
I definitely lost weight through breastfeeding last time. I was down to my pre-any-pregnancy-ever weight within about 3 weeks of birth. I was delighted how fast it melted away. I breastfed for 10 months in total. The only thing that stayed large were my boobs! :rotfl:

That was me too:rotfl:actually started to worry about how much weight I'd lost during pregnancy and then b'feeding, the loss leveled off at about 6 months after birth but then when finished feeding baby at 12ish months had such bad snacking habits and portion sizes my weight went up and up - happened after all 3, so I'll have to try and be good this time:rotfl:0 -

Welcome RealButter and Mancbird!
Thanks everyone for your comments re: weight gain, I am not a bad snacker generally, in the office I tend to have dried fruits/nuts, yoghurt with fruit etc. In our house we have rarely got crisps or choc, only thing I had was dark choc and a massive craving for peanut m&m's which thankfully seems to have now passed (unless I get some for my flight on the weekend).
Badness is Ben & Jerrys, take aways etc, of which we have 1 of each a month roughly
I go on my cross trainer twice a week, sometimes 3, and feel good when I do it, it's just making sure laziness doesn't take over that's the hard part... it did today for example!
Anyway won't think about it too much, because the latest thing I need to think about is bl**dy anaemia, just got back and saw a letter re: my latest blood testsAs it happens, we are having steak tonight anyway so that's a start :T
I can't believe I am visible on the list now in one screenshot - scary!:):)
