Who wants to help me write 1500 for this essay question. My tutor always makes them complicated. All the other tutors give me nice easy to undersstand questions. I started this at 10am and I've written two words.

Delain - congratulations, fingers crossed this time it's a boy or your oh might want to leave home in a few years living with all you hormonal women. :rotfl:
Congratulations to everyone who has given birth the last few days. :T
The official blood test results came back today & confirmed that I have Diabetes.
Fingers crossed it's just gestational but I am surprised at how unimportant it seems to be as the Secretary just said they were writing to the hospital consultant to inform him although i'm not even due to see him until 20th June.
I've made an appintment to see my Midwife Monday as I'm really confused as to whether i'm supposed to be changing my diet (I am trying) i'm also not sure what I should/shouldn't be eating as i'm getting conflicting information from Google.
I've also decided to use my original EDD of 8th July rather than the scan date of 30th July as it seems more realistic to me & goes long with my period dates.I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

You should be cutting down on sugar and fat and eating foods that release energy slowly, wholegrain pasta, pitta bread or wraps, if it has to be sliced bread should be brown not white bread (my grandad is type 1, my mum and uncle type 2) cut down on potatoes (one egg sized potato a day) No sugar in hot drinks because that puts too much in your system, as does fruit juice.
ETA eat small amounts regularly to keep your blood sugar levels constant, and drink loads of water. You can drink fizzy drinks, but only diet or zero versions.
Sustitute cream for yogurt, switch down your milk (ie from blue to green - sorry don't know what you usually get)
There is lots of info out there on the web too, have a google.

BCS that sounds terrible
. Here ladies who have an above normal random blood sugar done by their gp or midwife are referred immediately usual by phone to the diabetic obstetrics team and are seen and tested by them within a matter of days and are added to the consultants caseload straight away and are usually seen on a weekly basis. Call your hospital and ask to speak to somebody from the diabetic team tomorrow and explain your concerns and I am sure that they will help you and answer any questions you have.

Abby that sounds like a fab essay!
. However 1500 words is a bit of cruel word count as it will massively restrict the depth of your topic

I already use sweeteners & buy the sugar free options but i'm struggling to know what to have for dinner.
I had fish, new potatoes, corn on the cob & peas today which sounded really healthy to me.
God knows how i'm going to cook family meals with no potato.
I've got to make something with chicken & rice tomorrow so thought about coating the chicken in some spices before grilling it & serving with rice, sweetcorn & peas.
Again it sounds healthy to me but i've no idea whether i'm supposed to be eating it.I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

You can just put less potato on your own plate. You are allowed one a day :rotfl: It might even be different with GD this is just what my mum's been told!
It sounds OK to me, she eats risotto a lot (gak) which is rice so rice must be ok, best to use the wholegrain rice etc for energy release.Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

It seemed odd to me especially as the nurse told me last week that my levels were high so i'd imagined they would have some sort of system ready in place.
I'll try to get a telephone appointment with my GP or midwife tomorrow as I feel like i'm in limbo atm.I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.
