I get that too Mrs S.. I tell KH I have made plans so he can bring them back but I'll be out!koalamummy wrote: »MrsSpendalot sorry your ex is messing around so much and I hope you didn't get too stressed out at his behaviour
. On the plus side at least he is your ex and you have moved on and found somebody who actually deserves you.
What really annoys me is last year he went to a solicitor and accused me of stopping him from having contact. I was fuming, as it is something which I have never done. He had in fact failed to pick the kids up as planned. He accused me through the solicitor of stopping contact because he wasn't paying maintenance, which isn't a related issue. He got legal aid for his costs, but my income was apparently too high, so I had a £500 bill for the honour! So, after costing me £500 in fees and fighting with him for a year via the CSA for maintenance payments, he still continues to mess about with contact arrangements.
I am so much better off without him, Koalamummy!!! He's a first class <bleep>
I did get stressed, because there is no reason for it. If he had text at the beginning of the week and given a good reason for needing to change arrangements, I would be perfectly reasonable about it. I'm not a cow. But to drop it on me on the day he is picking them up is just wrong. I might have been going away this weekend! All this before he gets married later this year and starts having more kids too.
Pigpen, I think I'm going to have to start and refuse to have them back earlier too if it continues.
Don't get me wrong, they are my kids and I never had them with the intention of only being a part time parent, so having them all the time isn't an issue. BUT when he will go to such lengths to ensure he has contact the way he wants it, then not to stick to it just irritates me. If he wants to have them fortnightly, then he should have them fortnightly, and I should be able to make arrangements on my 'free' weekend without worrying whether he will drop me in it at the last minute because he has something better to do.

Oooooo exciting!:j. Good luck!
Well I've had a pretty poor 24 hours. Tripped over yesterday afternoon- fell on my bum:o. Got two sore wrists too one fractured- just what you don't need with a baby imminent. Spent hours in A&E, X-rayed wearing a lead apron and dealt with by a the most nervous Junior doctor ever. "Erm, I think you should get an X-ray..... are you allowed X-rays?" Excuse me? "I'll go check"...... "I'll get you some pain killers...erm, erm... what pain killers can you have?" Good grief! I had to ask for baby to be checked out- A&E completely ignored the fact I'd fallen on my bum:mad:.
So they sent me over to fetal medicine- two scans and an hour attached to fetal monitor later- all looked fine but due to some glitch with the machine I had to go back again today to be monitored for another hour. Midwife decided to take blood to check I did not have any fetal cells in my blood as a result of fall. Jabbed me in both arms failing to get any blood  and then called in the Sister to jab me a third time. She had no trouble thank goodness:T.
Goodness me! What an eventful day. Hope you're both ok xxxOlympic Countdown Challenge #145 ~ DFW Nerd #389 ~ Debt Free Date: [STRIKE]December 2015[/STRIKE] September 2015

. It is certainly not the worst condition to have as it is very manageable. In some ways it has even served me well as through necessity I am very organized and very good at planning ahead.
. The diet and fitness side is not an issue either you just become better at sticking to it than your friends so there is never any need for mad pre holiday diets. :rotfl:
I'm mainly worried how it will effect the baby?
I've read that having Diabetes whilst pregnant often leads to larger babies & C sections.
I can't have a C section as i've got to have my mastectomy redone after the baby is born as they didn't remove all the tissue & they are planning on using my stomach to reconstruct my breasts.
If I have a C section I can't have a reconstruction as all the other methods have failed & they can't use my stomach if i've had a section.I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

bcs.. that's daft and makes no sense.. they cut along your bikini line so unless they were thinking you'd look nice with pubic hair on your new breast it shouldn't be an issue... properly managed baby shouldn't be oversized anyway and they can induce early if needs be.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

That's what i've been told, i'm not sure if it's to do with the scar or whether it's just because you have already had surgery down there.
I know that i'll have to have my stomach wall strengthened when I have the surgery due to the risks of Hernia's.
I guess i'm just fretting & assuming the worst as I tend to do.
When I saw the midwife last week she said I was big for my dates so maybe they will give me another scan to see if it's the baby or whether i'm just carrying alot of water.
I'm hoping if the baby is big they will induce me early.
There is a discrepancy with my dates of 3 weeks anyway as they initially gave me the date of 8th July by my last period but changed it to 30th July when I had my 12 week scan.
It seems selfish for me to be worrying about this I know but i've only had one breast since 2006 & thinking I was going to get my breasts reconstructed eventually was the only thing keeping me going.I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

BCS sorry to hear about the Gestational Diabetes, I hope you get the support and advice you need from the doctors etc, I don't know much about it but know that after my mum's double mastectomy and all the treatment she got Diabetes type II, but is also connected to lifestyle etc. Having a baby has so many ups and downs doesn't it, so emotional!
Fluffy hope you are recovering well and I'm sure bubs is fine in their little padded ensuite facility! Rest up and hopefully things will heal quick...
Mrsspendalot try not to let him get into your head now, it's hard but you have a lovely OH now and bubs to think about, and baby can feel whatever you are feeling within seconds... time to get a mantra like 'I will not waste time on a loser'...repeat with me now
Have been cleaning bathroom and made a start on the kitchen, put a wash on and took it out, and unloaded the dishwasher plus watered the plants, therefore went to the shop and treated myself to a big bag pf peanut M&M's - still craving them!:):)

Sorry BCS had a friend round and never saw your post.
. Diabetic mothers always do have slightly larger babies but how much larger is mostly down to how well you control glucose levels. Don't worry too much about size necessitating c section though as everybody is different and have different sized babies. (I have a sister who is not diabetic and never has been who managed to deliver her 2 children naturally and they both weighed in at over 10 lbs, and she left hospital 2 days later each time in size 10 jeans!). C section is often preferred for diabetic mothers as due to the raised hormone levels at onset of labour diabetic control can be less stable and through labour not many women sit down and eat Full sized meals so gauging insulin doses is very tricky.
. Are you definitely being started on insulin though or are they trying diet controlled only for you to start with?

BCS you will have a lot more scans after diagnosis for them to monitor your babies growth accurately and usually with diabetic mothers they seem to consider 36 weeks as term and the point where they consider inducing from. One thing is certain though it is highly unlikely that they will let you go beyond 38 weeks at least here anyway that seems to be the absolute cut off point where they intervene so make sure you have everything ready early.0

Thanks so much for that hun. :A
I feel less stressed already. :j
I haven't got an appointment to see my midwife until a week Monday so I'll try & get an earlier one.
I don't know what they are going to do yet although I have already made changes to my diet today, mainly eating breakfast & lunch as I tend to go all day until I have my dinner.
I already use sweeteners instead of sugar & always buy the sugar free options if they are available.
My grandad has diabetes & uses insulin although I'm not sure what type it is but fingers crossed mine is just due to pregnancy.I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

Will keep mine crossed for you too.
One thing to watch out for are foods with hidden sugars as these can play havoc with stability. If you can swap to wholemeal breads and pastas as these break down more slowly and help with maintaining stable glucose levels. Avoid any ready noodle type things if you ever eat them as these are full of sugar fruit and fruit juice although good for you in general are full of natural sugars and can cause your glucose levels to spike
. But please don't worry about it too much as the diabetic team will see you very regularly and give you lots of advice and support and explain anything that is troubling you.
. You will most likely see a dietician too who will help you draw up meal plans to help stabilize you
. I will be around here too if you ever feel like having a moan about it
