    Afternoon all,

I'm 18 + 5 and for the last couple of mornings I've been woken up at around 6am with pains. They're in my lower stomach on the right hand side (where baby's feet are if he is in the same position he was in at 13 wk scan) and I'm not sure if they could be kicks, ligament pain or something sinister?

I'll call my midwife on Tuesday to ask her (don't feel the pains are significant enough to cause a fuss over iykwim) but just wanted to know if any of you have had these and if they're normal?

Thanks Pigpen. Men! He's doing the dutiful husband bit but it just doesn't feel like his heart is really in it. I have read that blokes tend to be slower to attach and generally have a sudden change at birth but I want it now!

    Sorry for the moan ladies

Mine's the same, he was really pleased at the beginning but as pigpen says for them its not real until its here, I've been really disapointed in how little interest he's got in my bump and feeling its movements. Sure he was more involved last time round.:(

Just lurking when I saw your post. I was induced with prostin and I'm not going to lie to you- I was in agony! They put it in about 5pm Wednesday and I tried to have some sleep but I was having pains and when I went to the loo about 3am I had a show. From having a dull ache which was totally manageable I started having full on contractions and I distinctly remember crying at OH saying "i can't do this".

But...had an epidural about 9 30am and it was bliss! Amelia is my first baby so I don't have anything to compare the pain too but all the midwives kept saying to me that being induced hurt more than going into labour naturally. Maybe being induced does hurt more or maybe I just have a very low pain threshold!

LOL no epidurals here they don't do it at my hospital so my pain threshold must be pretty good too, especially after a week of being induced!! I just wasn't sure if everyones experience was the same or it was the amount of times the gel had been used to get things going. The last lot of gel they gave me, I went from basically nothing to full blown contractions within half an hour with no break and this is what I am worried will happen again. I am not as worried about the painful contractions as I know I can deal with them, it is more the time in beween them or if the same will happen and they come one after another!

Oh and my god doesn't it really burn your ladies bits that gel!! Going to have to remember and ask them to put on the gel anaesthetic beforehand ouchie!!!

I really don't want to be induced either.I don't have another mw appointment until I'm 41+6. at the moment im considering just letting the baby come when it's ready without intervention at 10-12 days over. That's probably really irresponsible of me but my body knows what to do and we are only going by a dating scan for dates so who knows what you are really over by?

Hi, I'm really sorry but I cannot remember exactly when I got the various aches and pains but I'm pretty sure it's normal pregnancy stuff. I get worried everytime I feel something new, or my latest stress has been not feeling anything for a day or two. It all seems to work out ok but if you're unsure ring the MW because worrying will only make you notice absolutely everything! Best wishes.

Thanks alwayspuzzled. It's such a shame because I am soooooooooooo excited and I find it strange that he isn't but then I know men are funny creatures! I know there are lots of men who are interested in the pregnancy but sadly I don't think mine is one of them. That said, he's a good man and as long his interest perks up when our little one arrives that's ok. This way I get to choose everything!! I've even been sneaking new purchases in without showing him so I don't get ear ache about spending too much (after all, I did get my ebay bargain so it's not totally against MSE) :)

Could be just stretching pains- quite normal. Have you tried putting a pillow under your bump to support it when you're asleep and a pillow between your thighs/knees to give your uterus more room? I'd still ring midwife / make an appointment though if only to reassure yourself.

Thanks, being a first timer it's hard to know when to be worried and when not! I'll mention it to the midwife at my next appointment but I think Ill give pillows a whirl tonight and see if they make any difference.

Im so glad I went on the trip to town :D My local Wilkinsons had breast pumps in store for 75% off. The manual ones were priced at £20 so now £5 and they had one electric pump left £79 down to £19.75 :j so I grabbed it! They are Tommee Tippee ones. Wasnt even going to go in there first but glad I did now! Bargain!!! :j

Oh and not sure if I updated about the drawers but we got some lovely ones on Gumtree. They had the 2 side tables with them which are so nice that they are currently sitting in the living room while we decide if they look good there or back to the glass tables lol.

ligament pain is usually sharp and stabbing. I often feel like I have snapped somehing turning over in bed or sneezing or something it isn't nice.

Nic.. dating scans usually have a date with a 'give or take' margin for error.. usually about 5-7 days. A NORMAL pregnancy is up to 42 weeks.. so technically until you reach 42 weeks you are not overdue anyway. My brother was born at 43+1 and was fine. He was 9lb 3oz so not immense.. but the do gain around 1/2lb a week in the last few weeks ;) If you don't want to be induced say no, they can do scans to make sure the baby is getting adequate blood supply and therefore nutrients and oxygen.. the hospitals are there to support you not you there to keep them in a job.. you aren't answerable to you, quite the opposite and you are within your rights to refuse anything they offer! Even resuscitation!!!

I thought about saying no Nic but something has changed today and I am so scunnered with being pregnant I need this baby out :o
LOL I really shouldn't complain about being induced should I if I can't stand it any longer!

When i was in having DD there was a lady who refused an induction and she was 2 weeks over so I know they will consider it where we are going (may not be happy but you know what your body does best so I would't say it was irresponsible hunny especially since you have had 2 already). i'm sure she went into labour a few days later but she did end with a 10lber + :D
