I asked OH and DS1 to carry 2 baskets outside for me the other day.. after 3 hours I lifted one of them myself.. then got called in to see to the baby so it stayed out there for 2 days.. in the basket.. and the second basket is sill on the kitchen floor.. I have rewashed boths lots today.
I pee's me off that they complain if I struggle to do stuff myself but when I ask them to help they don't do it for hours if ever.. I asked OH to bring a full laundry basket down for me at 7 o'clock.. he has been up 3 times to the loo and to turn off lights and it is still up there. I wanted him to come to the physio appointment so he could be there when they said don't do this, this and this.. he couldn't pretend he didn't know then!
Mine are at school or after school activities so aren't home to do stuff usually.. which is why we are having a house blitz now. I have had my 2 y/o GS emptying and refilling washing machines lol OH loads the dishwasher and feeds the cats and he cleaned out the rabbits the other day... so he doesn't do nothing but I need help with so much more at the moment.. I am finding I get really stiff if I am sitting for a while and it takes a while to get moving again.. it really is starting up again isn't it?!
Yep
I had already given DH the whole talk about what I would or wouldn't be able to do, but until we went to the midwife and physio I don't think it had sunk in. I reached the point where I had to sit down with him, and then separately with the kids, and explain that I needed more help otherwise I'd be in hospital and then they'd have it all to do without me at all, which they would find loads harder. I haven't had to ask twice for anything done since. My older 2 are out nearly every night at clubs too, and every fortnight they aren't here at all as they go to their dads. We seem to have just found a routine now which gets most things done.
I asked DH to rearrange his usual routine to accommodate helping me a bit better. He was very dismissive at first, but after having now done it for 3 weeks he even admits it is working much better than how he used to organise his time to fit in housework. I'm less moody about the state of the house too. It's made a massive difference so hopefully he will stick to it even once the baby comes and I am more mobile! I guess it's just finding something that works for your particular family setup.digitalphase wrote: »Oh gosh, that's awful
I had a !!!!!! night's sleep again as kept getting up for a wee about every hour and my hips were agony turning over and repositioning. My back also hurts. Bit better now I've got up though. The only comfortable position is on my back, but we're not meant to sleep like that. I have woken up on my back a few times though.
I had a relatively good night last night, thank goodness! I didn't need to get up for the loo which no doubt helped, but for the first time sleeping with a pillow between my knees seems to have helped. My hips are still sore today so I'm still taking it really easy, but I can move much easier than I have been able to for the past couple of days. I managed to climb into the shower (it's an over-bath one) and out again on my own which is an improvement on yesterday. I just need to tackle shaving my legs now which isn't easy :rotfl:I can't lay on my back at all - when I do, my pelvis feels like it has shattered it's so loose!!
We've just put the moses basket and stand together in the nursery ... so cute. Can't believe there will soon be a little person in it.
Congratulations to Keith and Dipsy on your babies xxxx
Keith, when I had my first epic labour I had several midwives as the shift changes rolled round. I found it very unsettling as you get used to them, and then a stranger comes in. I actually was delivered in the end by the same midwife who I saw when I first went in to the ward as her shift had come round full circle. That was quite nice actually. She also ended up assisting in the birth of my 3rd baby which was nice too. Doesn't sound good that your wife was left so long to be stitched though. I can't remember whether it was my 1st or 2nd baby where they didn't weigh them straight away, and we had to ask, as I didn't want to phone any relatives to tell them about the birth without the weight (let's face it, it's one of the first things people ask!)
Good luck to all the boldies .... labour vibes on full strength!Olympic Countdown Challenge #145 ~ DFW Nerd #389 ~ Debt Free Date: [STRIKE]December 2015[/STRIKE] September 2015

I've tried talking to OH and got nowhere.. Second basket carried out today though he did take the first one
He loaded the dishwasher but I had to ask.. and despite me saying to him several weeks ago that he would have to start carrying fat lump up to her bed I am still doing it twice a day though I send him to bring her down.

Congratulations Keith and Dipsy on the birth of your babies
Pigpen - Sorry to hear that your OH isnt being very helpfulI have been signed off work for 2 weeks now because I fainted a few times and my blood pressure is very low, OH has been brilliant really. Doing far more than he has to. I have tried telling him I am absolutly fine to do things around the house and if I feel dizzy I will sit down, but he still insists on doing the hoovering, washing etc..
