Hi Pigpen - thanks for the response. I don't intend baby to be in that long - literally in the car. We just got a pushchair for a bargain price which inclluded the seat with it - I'll want baby to be in the recline position on the pushcahir when out and about - looks more snuggly for her!:heart2: Mummy to one gorgeous little girl :heart2:0

Our travel system came with a carseat but we will only be using it for in the car. It doesn't have a seperate base for it either, we just have to strap it in the car. I would suggest you test it as some carseats don't fit some cars, ours only just does.
Glad the appointment went well madness! Hope baby moves round for you in next few weeks.0 -
the bases make it incredibly easy getting the seats in and out of the car we didn't have one for Squeak until just before christmas when we got the riot bus and it has made masses of difference. Baby is not meant to be in the car seat for very long though as it puts them at risk of suffocation.
Personally I don't think they should be allowed to make travel sysems that enable people to have the baby in a car seat for hours at a time given it is dangerous.. I purposely got a car seat that wouldn't fit my pushchair.
Is that recent advice Pigpen? DS used to spend hours in his but that was 10 years ago, just wondering if this is something else that I hadn't thought about!0 -

We've chosen to call our little boy William Joseph, but it will probably be shortened to Billy. It didn't occur to me that there would be any connection to the Royal Wedding and an increase in that as a name, we just really like the name, and it's the only one we both agreed on. My second choice was Charlie, and my 3rd choice was Jack but DH wasn't keen on those. I already have a Harry too, so I'll have a William and Harry LOL. I would call your baby whatever you want - you have to be happy with it forever.Olympic Countdown Challenge #145 ~ DFW Nerd #389 ~ Debt Free Date: [STRIKE]December 2015[/STRIKE] September 2015

William was a consideration for our boys name, as it is my great grandads name, my great uncles and my uncles name, but we have settled on Jack for a boy now. Think we will stick with Katy for a girls name, unless we have a girl and she doesn't look anything like a Katy :rotfl:0 -
I have a travel system car seat with no base. It's easy enough to get in and out the car. I think it's really handy for popping round Asda if the baby is asleep, otherwise you have to disturb the baby.
I've never left them longer than an hour in it. And that's only if they are sleeping.
I never liked seeing them all squished in them,I worried they would end up with a curved spine.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
Congratulations Sarahjanetim.
Smiley you don't need to buy the base to be able to install your seat safely but it does make it much quicker in winter if you have the base unit in your car to run out and safely attach the seat to it and get the heating on than fidgeting with the seat belt and cold numb hands every time..

Congrats sarahjanetim
I have a car seat with adapters so it fits on my buggy, however we're only going to use that if we go shopping for example and bubs has fallen asleep on the journey. Will be easier to lift the seat out and take him around the supermarket rather than wake him up. So he wouldn't be in the car seat longer than a few hours. It's just for convenience really. We will mostly use the carrycot for the first few months anyway, and he will certainly go in that after a longish journey i.e to see my mum.
Blergh, still feel sick.0 -
I do that too Nic as it means that we can be be there and back and have done all of our shopping in less than 1 hour and there is minimal disruption to routine.0
