Thanks Apricot - I'll have a look at those later.
xDxFear is temporary, regret is forever.....:happyhear Baby girl born 27th September - 10 days late!! :happyhear0 -
It is an official extra bank holiday but employees seemingly don't have an automatic right to paid leave on bank holidays seemingly it depends on your contract of employment!! Found this http://www.bytestart.co.uk/content/legal/35_1/royal-wedding-bank-holiday-headache.shtml
There are quite a lot of links like that saying the same thing. Fingers crossed but knowing your history with your employer ........!
:rotfl:I don't even have a flipping contract anymore! I know it's only a day but it's the principle of the thing - why should I use my holidays if I don't have to!
I will show her the Directgov link and stand my ground that it is a bank holiday! If she makes me take it as a holiday Ill pull a sickie another day!
Not long till maternity leave .........:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0 -
Nic hope you are feeling better soon, I agree with koalamummy headache pain like the one you are describing is absolutely terrible, I got them midway through my pregnancy and they are awful
hope it clears soon x
My pregnancy this time i have to say has been so much easier than my first. I have been sick pretty much right through this time again but it really hasn't been as bad as it was first time round. I did suffer with spd with my first pregnancy too but I have been pretty lucky again this time as the only niggles I am getting are the ones everyone gets around this time with very painful hips at nights. Yes the sleepless nights are a pain in the bum but hey there are going to be so many more sleepless nights when bubs arrives so I suppose it's good just getting accustomed to it. This is my last pregnancy so I just need to enjoy it and remember what it is like growing a baby inside of me, as I wont experience it again (Nic are your proud of me LOL!!!
:D)

Morning , not posted in ages. Just felt generally down in the dumps the last week , been far too hot and uncomfy and jealous seeing people go out and have fun.
Feel much better today tho. Been reading back a few pages and OMG I had no idea what a braxton hicks was, I thought it was cramps. But I now know Ive been having them for on and off since about 24 weeks. Bump goes rock hard and full feeling and I struggling to breathe properly , they it goes softish again and I can actually inflate my lungs.
Apricot -we arent getting the 29th off but are getting an extra days holidays. We are a small business and couldnt afford to shut for that day. Thanks to MSE for making it possible for me save to buy my new flat , yay !!

Morning all,
Have been and joined the library and got a couple of books out so should help keep me entertained while I wait for this lazy baby hehe.
I have another question on bank holidays. I got a letter through from my work last week about my pay and rights etc and it said that i will get my maternity pay topped up when there is a bank holiday as they are part of my contract to have off. I just wanted to see if anyone knew if this means i would get extra this month? I am assuming not as i am still on full pay so am already being paid for them?0 -
Could someone confirm something - my boss is trying to say that 29th April (Royal Wedding) is not a bank holiday but just a day to be taken out of normal holidays - Im sure that's not right but if someone could point me to something that I can show her to prove her wrong I would be very grateful!
Hey Apricot, it is indeed a bank holiday but as I understand it unfortunately it really does depend on how your contract is written, if you don't have one (which they must give you) I guess it's the statutory minimum for holidays.
Ours actually lists which bank holidays we have (some contracts might say 8 bank holidays) so you need to know, otherwise yes your boss can not let you take it off, sorry.
Our contract meant we were only going to have the option of taking holiday or taking it unpaid. Thankfully they've had a change of heart and said we can all take it paid as an extra day.
Could someone update me to team pink on the list? Scared to do it in case I mess it up0 -

Updated on the list I posted this morning!
This is all so confusing. For the last 5 years (almost) I have had the same employer - however I have been employed by 3 different companies (all of whom have the same director) I was transferred from the first to the second under TUPE (or something) but when second company went into administration I was made redundant and then re-employed by this company.
I still have a contract from my previous employment, my wages have not changed and neither has my holiday entitlement etc so I am working under those old conditions in theory?
This is what happens when you work for a family business and nobody bothers to do anything properly!:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0 -
Morning ladies,
Hope you've all still got the sunshine (apart from those that are uncomfortable from the heat).
Nothing happening here unfortunately, 4days overdue and no signs apart from period cramps (which I've had for about 2 weeks)
Will have a proper read back in a bit, had a quick look yesterday on my phone and saw Dipsy's comment about the struggling to sleep from the stress of it, I completely understand, I'm so panicked about this that I've started feeling dizzy when I'm trying to drift off, then find myself thinking about any old carp (for hours and hours). Really can't get my head around the fact that I might have warning that I'm going into labour, I might not, etc etc, it hurts my head
Good news though, the fraudulent transaction(s) were still pending on my account, bank told me to ring every day to see if it had been taken or not () a week later its still not giving me any access to my account as its still pending, called up to complain, they remove them within 10minutes!! Why couldn't they have done that in the first place? So releived that thats sorted out though, the thought of having a newborn with no money wasn't helping the sleeping situation!
Ooh and received my nuby breast pump too (manual), thank you to Chicky who I think originally posted on it.
Hope people manage to sort out their work with bank holidays etc, I'm already on mat leave so get mine added on as extra holiday which I'm pretty pleased about :T
Congrats on team pink Perdi!
Wendz its probably worth contacting your HR dept as you don't want extra pay to effect smp (sorry I don't know enough about this to know if it would or not). Good plan about joining the library!
Apricot&Deb, second what everyone else says about shopping around (I personally went for the Quinny Buzz 3, me and DH love it so far but its so difficult to say until we have bubs in it), I also found it really helpful to speak to my sister who has an 11 month old and made the error of buying one, then needing a different one 3 months later so was good to get a bit of advice from someone with a bit more experience than me.
Any news from any other boldies?

My mum bought us the carrycot and I keep meaning to measure it , planning on using as a moses basket, for during the day sleeping. Not sure what stand it will fit tho?Im not worried about labour yet ... lolThanks to MSE for making it possible for me save to buy my new flat , yay !!

I'll see if I can get DH to dig it out Lablover, its currently under lots and lots of baby stuff in the dining room and I'm banned from lifting anything in there lol. I personally have both moses basket and carrycot (just because my mum very kindly got us the moses basket), its in a stand so I'll see if I can try it in that and measure it at the same time x (What colour is your carrycot? I got it in 'rockin red'-:heartsmil it!)£2000/£9000=22.2%0
