    Hiya all!

Vroom - hope your Mum is there now and looking after you x

Back from the consultant and I have been booked in for section on Thursday. I will be 41 plus 1 by then. Wasn't really wanting a section, but I have been over and over the options/ possibilities in my mind and it is the best decision I think all things considered.

Has anyone got any advice from previous sections?

Re the prams/ travel systems - we got the Mothercare xcursion. I haven't tried it out yet, but it looks nice!

My MIL thinks we'll need it too..... I'm not sure, the footmuff looks like it may be warm enough when the baby is lying flat?

    xDx

That's what I thought but my mum said if it's windy baby has no shelter due to the low sides :o I have no idea! I think we are just going to buy the pram for now and then decide when she gets here whether we actually need it or not. Seems like an awful lot of money for something that's only going to last a few months

That's what I thought. But, there are quite a few on Ebay (as they obviously aren't used for long) so I was going to snap one up on there for less than half the price.

I think there's quite a lot of this baby malarky for me to learn!! :p

Did you buy the carrycot? My mum seems to think I will need it....

I already have a moses basket and stand for sleeping and think you are supposed to buy a separate mattress from M&P if you want to use the cot for sleeping and I'm not sure I can justify purchasing it.

One of the reasons I liked the Sola is that it it forward or rear facing in the lie flat position - I got the buggy liner/footmuff too so I don't think I'll need the carrycot - I've never had a carrycot attachment with any of my other prams so just haven't bothered.

Lablover we did get the parasol http://www.boots.com/en/Quinny-Parasol-Rocking-Black_1155161/ but only because boots had it on offer for about £14 I think? We have got tons of stuff from boots with money off codes etc, havn't needed anything for a while but would check there first. You probaby wouldn't need it with the carrycot but I'm probably not the best person to comment lol. Good point about the tissues! Think I might go to the pound shop and stock up!

VB hope you are still being looked after, glad your mum isn't too far away, not too long now xx

BettyB thats very thoughtful to come on here and ask, that bouncer looks fantastic, if I'm unsure on what to get I tend to check argos and amazon as they've normally got reviews on a product that I can read through.

Dipsy did you have another sweep today? Sorry if I've missed it or you don't want to say, but how come you are having a section? I'm only curious as we're so close date wise and I'm seeing the midwife tomorrow and unsure what to expect at the appointment. Must be lovely to know that you will definitely be meeting your baby in a few days though :T

G-baby, I've had both the anti-d jabs this time, no after effects apart from the stinging, apparently its quite a big needle? I wouldn't know as there's no way I'd look lol.

Boo the suns disappeared now so I'm going to have to get back to my list! For the record, I had really spicy fajitas last night AND went on a hilly walk (haven't been able to do that for a while with SPD!) and I'm still very pregnant lol.

I've had 2 sections and planning to have another with this baby.

Advice wise depends what you want to know (I can tell you what to expect) but one essential thing is to make sure you take over the bump knickers with you and also make sure whatever you take to wear immediately afterwards doesn't put any pressure on your section wound which will be low (just above your bikini line)
So forget any under bump trousers and think dresses/over the bump stuff for a bit.;)

I would say in my experience an elective section is a pretty relaxed and calm way to give birth - just more of a nuisance and pain afterwards - good luck for Thursday! x
