I thought I was going to faint towards the end of my GTT. Was certain I had diabetes and I was desperate for a drink! They asked ME if I had taken my own lucozade and I hadn't because I hadn't been told that I could!!! I am quite a fan of the blackcurrant one too! :(

The GTT isn't routine here.. might just be for that 1 GP... seems a strange thing to put people through without a reason to think it might be an issue.

Yes agreed - I'm not sure if it's routine for all pg women here or whether just those under consultant care.

I don't have any of the things that might predispose me to gestational diabetes but I guess if I have developed it it will pick that up.

Just nipping in for a little moany rant :(

My husband is making me feel really guilty for not being able to do much around the house with my SPD :( He is a stay-at-home dad/OU student (at full time equivalent study rate) since he left his job due to mental health issues. He's so bloody lazy though  We have our landlord coming round tomorrow to repair the path in the backyard and the dining room carpet is covered in crumbs from the kids breakfast. I can't hoover coz of my SPD, so I asked him to do it, and you would think I had asked him to cut off his right arm with no pain relief. I've just swept the kitchen floor so it looks like I'm helping, but I'll suffer for that later with sore joints. I wouldn't mind, but he wasn't even studying - he was only playing on his laptop. Anytime I ask him to do anything he gets moody and thinks I'm criticising him for not doing enough, but that's his mental illness talking. I can't help it if I'm physically not capable, and he knew I would be in this state when he got me up the duff. So in protest, he is now hoovering the house from top to bottom in a mood, when all I asked for was the dining room floor doing. And I feel bad for having asked in the first place :o

  • Is it common for BH's to be around every hour? I'm only 34 weeks and this is getting painful now :(

Do they go away when you get up and move around?

GFH - What twinges have you been getting? Do you think things are moving? And yes, you have my permission to slap the moody midwife. I did hit the other midwife in the face with the gas and air pump though........unintentionally - flipping pethadine's fault lol.

:T:T:T:T:T:T:T I keep getting back pains, then they wander off.
I don't want to be on my own :(

    You're not, honey.

eta Mrs S show him the flylady thread and ask him to do up to level 2 each day. Then no nagging required.

You feel bad cos he's hoovering the whole house instead of just the one room which you politely asked him to do? Heck no! Don't! Let him bite his nose off to spite his face! Put your feet up and relax! Sod him if he wants to make a bigger job out of it than needs be!

Not really. They are just there. Lurking. Midwife said to get up and walk around too and then try a bath a bit later on. She said it's probably false labour. So i'm washing the baby clothes and tidying up trying to keep active to make it go away but it still isn't.

She said any more than 5 in an hour and i'm to phone the hospital. I'm on my 3rd in half an hour! :(

  • Well them not going away is a sign that it's not false labour...I know as I spent half the morning doing "am i in labour" quizzes!!!

Bath might slow them down or disorganise them.

Is sickness a sign too? Cos I feel as sick as a dog. Also feel like i've got a head cold.

Just waiting for hubby to come home and then i'm jumping in the bath. Stay put vibes needed! For another 3 weeks at least! :(

Sickness is. Hang on a tic...sure baby will be fine if born now, but lets do stay put vibes anyway.

Initially, contractions will be more than five minutes apart. As labour progresses, they become more frequent and longer.
During or before early labour, most women notice a 'show'. This is when the plug of mucus that has sealed your womb during pregnancy comes away. It's slightly pink because it contains blood, but only a little blood should be mixed with the mucus. If you're losing more blood, it may be a sign that something is wrong, so phone your hospital or midwife straight away.
For some women, signs of labour also include backache, nausea, vomiting or diarrhoea.

I feel bad because this is how he starts with his little 'episodes' ... any slight hint of criticism and he loses it. He just can't cope. It's not his fault, he is ill, but it's hard walking around on egg shells all the time, and right now I need looking after rather than me looking after him. When he's finished his little strop, it will be time for tea, so I'll have to ask for help with that too and then he'll sulk even more and mutter under his breath that he has study to do. At that point I normally can't bite my tongue any more and respond with the fact that if he spent less time on his laptop browsing for things we can't afford to buy, or reading forums (I'm only on here coz I'm off sick and can't do anything else), and more time studying then he wouldn't have a problem fitting it all in ... then we normally row :(

He just has no sense of urgency at all, and is too laid back for his own good. I think I'm so far the other way, it is hard to strike the right balance some times. I'm getting so depressed being off work, bored, in constant pain and unable to function properly, that little things like the floor around the sofa being clear and tidy make a difference to how I feel sitting on it all day :o I know that probably sounds stupid.

I'm probably being very unfair to him, as he is doing a lot at the moment with the kids because I can't (school run every day, all their activities etc.), but I just don't think hoovering a room is a big ask :o
