What is a Feliway refill? i've just had a look on google and  at the prices. Our eldest cat has taken to doing his business in the corner of the living room lately (no idea why) and I wonder if this plugged in that corner may deter him?

Also, for those of us with cats, what are you doinng re: litter trays once bubs becomes mobile? Ours are currently in the corner of our kitchen and I thought a baby gate up at the door would solve the problem but OH wonders if the cats will work out how to climb over it to get in there.

Dusty - I think the Feliway things are more for destressing a cat and keeping them calm - I think they are often used when moving house or introducing a new cat into the house. To deter puss from doing his business in the same place have you cleaned it with biological washing powder and then maybe spray something citrussy on the area as they don't seem to like that smell.

Our litter trays are in the bathroom and we will probably put a babygate up. My cats would defo climb over (or the skinny one would slip through) I have tried blocking doors with countless huge pieces of furniture on occasion and they have always found their way in!:rotfl:

MIL came back from visiting SIL with new baby and god, am I glad I don't have her family! Apparently she's not allowed to BF when her father's in the room as he gets embarressed, now I know what my response to this would be - what would yours be?

I am probably in the minority when I say this but if it was in his house I would respect his wishes however if he expected me to go elsewhere to feed my baby in my own house he could go and get to ......!:D

  • SmlSave if he comes to visit you and you need to BF in your own home tell him if he doesn't like it to leave the room and go elsewhere

Not sure really - a lot of men (especially of the older generation appear to fall in to this camp sadly :()
Personally I never felt particularly comfortable feeding in front of anyone other than people I was close to but then again I didn't manage it for that long and I know many women who are fine with it and that's great.

I think in an ideal world you should be able to feed your baby wherever and whenever needed, espec in your own home, but for me personally if somebody felt uncomfortable I wouldn't want to feed in front of them.

Yeah that's how I felt, especially when I first started B/F'ing, it was me that had the probelm, nobody else did. I soon got over my shyness though (ahem not that I was whapping them out left right and centre LOL :o:D)

I remember my ex-MIL telling me when I was breastfeeding #3 that she personally had no problem with me wanting to breastfeed, but her sister was coming to visit and if we wanted to visit that weekend I would have to feed upstairs as she wouldn't like it done in front of her. I was fuming, and quite upset, as this came after lots of digs about the fact that because I had chosen to breastfeed, I was depriving everyone else the opportunity to give the baby bottles (I bottle fed my previous 2). I didn't visit that weekend.
