Ooh, just looked at the hospital list (thanks Dusty). I am now confused - what is the difference between a body suit and a sleepsuit and a baby grow?? Does baby wear more than one at once, or is one for daytime and one for night??
xx0 -
I think a bodysuit is the ones without legs and the sleepsuits have legs. As far as I know sleepsuits are the same as babygrows?0

on the subject of cats...is anyone worried how they will react when baby comes along, I know people worry about dogs....perhaps I'm being daft.
We have 2 cats, one who runs and hides whenever we have people round another one who LOVES peoples laps, scavaging for food etc. I'm more worried about him with the baby. I'll be needing to lock him out of the living room when me and bubs have a nap. i'm also getting some cat nets from amazon to put over the moses basket.
The other cat has figured out how to open the door to the nursery so OH put a lock on it last weekend, seems quite barbaric locking a child in a room but hohumWill I need vests, and if so are these the short sleeved / short legged versions of babygrows or are there some that look more like vests?? Will baby be alright wearing babygrow in hospital or will I need jumpers / coats for him (I have jacket / hat for going home but expect hospital will be okay in a babygrow). Glad you asked about oiling baby's bum twinny, have been wondering the same thing!
xx
:rotfl:at your OH twinny, sounds like something mine would come out with too. He is still adamant that if the cats don't like the baby then the baby has to go back
I asked the same Q re: baby clothes a few months back. It is a minefield. I'm taking the short sleeve/no legs body suits (also called vests) to go under long sleeve/legged sleepsuit (also called babygrow) for in hosp with a padded pramsuit over the top for the journey home. I fully expect bubs to live in bodysuit and sleepsuits combos for the first few weeks, I cannot be doing with fiddly outfits.
I'm also taking in a crochet blanket for in hosp as that will smell of our home so thought it would be nice.
My mum has dug out my coming home blacket (gorgeous woolen knitted white one) which I will drape over the car seat for the jouney home (prob wont need it for warmth with the pramsuit) but i want a pic of bubs wrapped in the blanket his mummy was brought home from hospital in0 -
Dusty - my Mum's cats can break into my old room at home so I am not letting baby sleep in there when we are over! They are far too affetionate and can just imagine them lying on babys head.0

Ive only bought a few sleep suit sets , they have the vest for underneath , the sleepsuit for on top and a bib and hat. My mum was saying "dont buy 2 much because people will probably buy you clothes" I just cant see it tho , we dont have that much family. I know that my work mate is knitting me some cardigans , which Im chuffed at because I love knitted stuff. Ive bought two long sleeved baby tops and Im trying to buy the jogger things. They arent tight round the bottom , more like yoga pants but for babies, cant seem to find them anywhere? Sister is going to primark next week so have tasked her with that. I dont think I will bother with outfits for a while , but bubs will be born in summer so some little short dungarees would probs be good if its a boy and some dresses and those knicker things if its a girl. OOOOO Im so clueless , I'l be suprised if they actually let me out the hospital when they see how clueless I amThanks to MSE for making it possible for me save to buy my new flat , yay !!

Hi ladies, thanks for all the condolence messages, very sweet of you
I suppose we will have to try and get a mate for Amber, but I am not looking forward to the introduction as piggies are notoriously difficult to accept newbies. We shall get a baby I think and introduce on neutral ground. I dunno, but it may be an idea to get two babies, that way Amber hopefully won't get fixated on one. We always said in the future we'd get at least a trio, but it doesn't work like that does it? When one dies, the other is on its own and it's awful. It will be terrible when my oldest pair of girls, who are 4 this year, get split up as one is a bit more insecure than the other and that turns into aggression towards other pigs. We tried various combinations of all our pigs together at some point, but it would always end in a scrap/teeth chattering etc. That's why we ended up spending a fortune on all our runs
Poor little girl must be feeling terribly scared and lonelyWill go and put them out in a bit.
Sharkey, good luck today for your scan hun. Hope all goes well x
Madbird/Apricot - I also have two cats and will be getting a Feliway refill when baby comes. I fully expect them to be scared of him at first. Will let them smell an item of his worn clothing, and introduce gradually. I think they'll be OK though. They are in the bad books today as came down to loads of hair everywhere where my male cat has been scrapping with his sister (OH only hoovered last night). Dunno why he bothers, he always comes off worse! He still has a sore lip from when she bit him last week. He's quite thick TBH :rotfl:
VB - really glad the physio made you feel better! Can't wait for mine! I think my pelvis may be out, but it's my left hand side which hurts. We went for a walk around a couple of shops on Saturday and I was in agony afterHow often do you get to see them?
Regarding the free Boots Changing Bag - has anyone else had problems with them when ordering online?
I ordered some bits for my hospital bag at the same time as a pack of Pampers nappies, and input the code Jojo posted. It came up at the bottom as code accepted and free changing bag promotion. It also appeared on my Paypal receipt. It wasn't on my Boots receipt or order though. The parcel turned up today, but minus the bag. I will give them a ring today and ask what's happened, but has anyone else had the same thing?
Sorry for anyone I have missed out, brain is very mushy at the moment x0 -
DP - I am going back a week today so she can monitor my progress and to see if my pelvis is aligned again. She gave me loads on good info as well, whe do you have yours?
Guinea pigs - I have two of those two:D (I REALLY hope my son likes animals!). Why not ring round some local rescues like the RSPCA? They might have a neutered boy and you can introduce him slowly to Amber. I did this last year when my boy died leaving his brother xx:j:jOur gorgeous baby boy born 2nd May 2011 - 12 days overdue!!:j:j0 -
Thanks everyone re cats, I'd forgotten about Feliway, will ask at vets.
Oh Digital just seen your post and your boy is or was like mine re scrapping with his sister, who we sadly lost last year to cancer:(. He'd start the playfight, by tapping her and she'd end it with some harsh right hooks with claws out whilst holding him in a headlock!!Strangely he hasn't had a puffy eye since we lost her! TBH he is a bit thick too, although we spell "sweets" out to him and he understands that!
I don't think he will climb into moses basket or cot (his sister would have done either that or the boxes they came in!), he'll be on the bed with me as usual. I don't seem to have done too badly as my mum often reminds me I used to share my cot with two cats at times:eek::D One hated being picked up so they couldn't lift him out as they thought it would wake me when he hissed! They decided in the end he was a guardcat.
Forgot to say caught up with OBEM, that singing woman, OMG she needed a slap! And why did he have to keep running off to get things at the start, why did they not have it with them, some were basics. She was so up herself.:heart2:Baby boy madbird arrived 15/06/11 by emergency csection weighing 9lb 13oz:eek: love him so much xx:heart2:0 -
In the last few days , ive started feeling the baby move during the day. When it first started I only felt it at night lying in bed or when Im sitting on the sofa watching tv or reading. Now it squirms about while im sitting at work , I honestly didnt think I would feel it as soon. I second what VB says about rescue piggy.I got my dog from the rescue centre , shes a gemThanks to MSE for making it possible for me save to buy my new flat , yay !!

hngrymummy wrote: »SJP - nothing this morning, apart from tiredness due to lack of sleep. Was getting Braxtons last night quite often, but they've mostly stopped this morning. How are you? Are you going to pop before me?
Just found out that a friend of mine has had a hen night, and I wasn't even asked to go
I'm ok thanksjust lower backache but nothing major - way I feel at minute, dont think i'm going to have a baby at all
I have this too, not being invted on nights out etc, it used to wind me up at first, but now i'm not bothered, think an hen night is a bit different though..... Infact one of my 'friends' i'd decided to ask to be a godparent, however i've had no texts, emails or FB messages from her, so she can forget it now..... Too busy pouring beer down her neck etc....
Nic - I was worried about a homebirth at first, as I had to be assisted with DS, when I mentioned it to MW she said that being in your home had that much of a calming/relaxing influence that it reduced medical assistance straightaway.... said I could expect a internal as soon as MW comes (thats just to see how far i'm dilated) then she said that another is hardly ever necessary..... she was saying that pain relief they carry with them (with the exception of G & A) is always going out of date as they hardly ever use it.....
Can't remember who it was that asked about cats with newborns, sorry, but when we brought DS home in his car seat, OH put car seat on floor in lounge and let the cat have a sniff about etc, cat stuck her tail in air and walked off and never bothered with him. If occasionally DS was asleep on sofa, she would jump up and curl in a ball near his feet, but other than that never bothered him.
Gonna make some lunch and jump up and down a bit, see if anything exciting happensChallenges - repay all credit cards by end of 2015Starting the savings for retirement :rotfl:
