Really sad news about Amanda Holden, as we've all said we think we're home and dry at this point.... Hope she finds the strength to try again when everything calms down.....
I'm getting proper fed up now, lots of lower backache and 'tightenings' across the tummy, then it seems to die off and nothing happens again til the next day.....Challenges - repay all credit cards by end of 2015Starting the savings for retirement :rotfl:

Thanks honeypop and jojo - I was just updating my hospital bag list and wondered how to use it if I'm going to be packing it
.
I guess if we remember then we'll do it, I'm sure it won't be at the forefront of my mind by then.....:p0 -
Morning everyone , have read back but not remembered much
Glad you had a nice time Apricot, have decided that OH and I should get away , one last holiday with our number one born (chocco lab ) before the baby arrives. Dog loves the seaside (wont go near the sea ) but loves all the smells, I love the seaside too and love fish and chips. Congrats OTE , bubs is so cute.
R.I.P little max , when my hamster died me and my OH had to go for a drive while BIL dealt with him , I was devestated.couldnt eat properly for days , we eventually got a replacement who was evil !!! It bit me all the time and used to chew the bars on its cage at midnight every night.
So so sad about Amanda Holden , my aunty gave birth to her little girl knowing that she would only live for minutes. It really is heart breaking, its such a worry being pregnant , you feel like you cant just enjoy it for the worry. Especially if there are any ladies like me who were told they couldnt have a baby and then manage to fall pregnant , you expect it to get taken away at any time
Enough of that though ! Got my 20 week scan on wed, super excited. Just hope they get to see bubs , I know how to make it wriggle tho , if I bring my knees up to my tummy it normally starts it off , lol Cruel mummy for trying it all the time.
xxxxThanks to MSE for making it possible for me save to buy my new flat , yay !!

Lablover - the place we went was doggy friendly just in case you were interested link
Am trying to buy a new bed, ours is only about 18 months old one of the leather bedsteads but cats have scratched it to pieces and it takes up so much room in the bedroom as it is the sleigh type. I was looking for a divan bed with storage underneath without a mattress and I can't find one anywhere! Really need to make a start on making some space for baby now otherwise he/she is going to be sleeping in a drawer!
In other news I have devoured half a packet of rich tea biscuits and Im still hungry - how is that possible?:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0 -
Cant open that link Apricot, think its my pc at work , its useless it cant open anything .Will have a look tonight on laptop. We are going to get our cot from Ikea as its only 65cms wide so will fit nicely down the side of our bed. Also need to move some furniture around so bubs has own part of our room. We are buying cream and brown baby stuff so it matches in with our room , but when we buy a bigger place I want the nursery to be really bright. Our friend is thinking of putting his house on the market in November ( he has numerous houses ) so we could be interested in that if we manage to get ours soldThanks to MSE for making it possible for me save to buy my new flat , yay !!

I know a few of you mums have informed us first timers that the first poo will be like tar and difficult to get off. So what do you recommend?
the list on the first page says to use vaseline. I wondered if baby oil would do the job too? (i have gallons of the stuff)
Do I smear it onto babys bum when he first enters the world. How long will it take for the first one to come? I'm wondering if I'll have time/remember before he decides to empty himself.
I'm imaging myself delivering the placenta while telling OH to slap the baby oil on
any advice/tips??
Our NCT teacher advised us to take the vaseline/oil/whatever in with us and make sure that whoever is going to be dressing baby slaps some on (possibly MW). And not to bother trying to clean it up with water and cotton wool as it'll not work. So babywipes are a must for the first poo.
SJP - nothing this morning, apart from tiredness due to lack of sleep. Was getting Braxtons last night quite often, but they've mostly stopped this morning. How are you? Are you going to pop before me?
Just found out that a friend of mine has had a hen night, and I wasn't even asked to goI know I wouldn't have gone as I'm sooooo pregnant, but I'd have liked the invite so I could send a few quid for a drink for her and wish her well. I guess that this is what's to come - invites dropping off because people think I won't go anyway. I do understand why I wasn't invited, I'm just a bit sad about it.

Morning all, I'm up but not exactly awake!
Hope all ok Sharkey xx
Hugs Digitalphase, poor little Max, its always so heartbreaking when you lose a pet especially as you said he was quite young. xx
My wounded soldier remembers his limp when he wants something, otherwise he is fine now thanks.....on the subject of cats...is anyone worried how they will react when baby comes along, I know people worry about dogs....perhaps I'm being daft.
Thing is my boy is my baby currently, he is a very needy, demanding, nervous, cuddly, funny cat! He gets very anxious when anyone visits and hides somewhere in house for an hour after they had gone. He stays in the garden so doesn't roam...he has only ever climbed a fence once...he is 14 now!:rotfl:...in fact he does lots of things only once but thats another story or two! When he stresses he gets male cystitis which is horrible for him. I've got anti inflammatory drops all time in case. Guess I'm just worried he could run off, gets overly stressed etc etc. Sorry bit of a ramble there!
Best get my bum in gear, have to sign on later at Job Centre....need to make up what I've done to look for a job this week. Only three more fortnightly trips until I get Maternity Allowance!
:heart2:Baby boy madbird arrived 15/06/11 by emergency csection weighing 9lb 13oz:eek: love him so much xx:heart2:0 -
ah hngrymummy, the old 'she's pregnant and so doesnt need to be included in anything trick'
I'm currently going through the same. None of my best/drinking friends have babies and I cannot remember the last time I was invited out with them. Tbh, I cannot think of anything worse at the min that standing for hours in some cramped bar with an orange juice so I'm not too bothered but they aren't accomodating me in anything anymore.
Even OH turns down invites on my behalf thinking I won't want to do things. I cannot remember the last time I got dolled up on a saturday night (oh yes NYE).
I always think I'm missing out but when it comes to saturday night i just want to get my pjs on and watch mindless tv.
Make sure you tell your friends how you feel though. There's nothing worse than feeling left out of things.0 -
I washed all the moses basket bedding and all the baby clothes and nappies I have yesterday. After making up the moses basket I burst into tears as it has just made it very real.
Im starting to doubt having a homebirth now. i think ive watched too much tv and read too many birth stories recently. nearly every birth has ended in an episiotomy, ventouse, forceps or a c section as the baby is getting distressed. neither of my babies got stuck or were in distress but im panicking now that it may happen and im stuck at home. will someone give me a slap and tell me im being daft please?
Im off down 'home' to Ayrshire for the long weekend. OH cant come as he has tones of report cards and planning to do. So im going outfor dinner on Sat with my sisters and their partners, visiting Oh's parents during the day and on Sunday its my sisters birthday so we are having a family meal.
Im supposed to come back Monday and have a MW appointment on Tuesday, im thinking of cancelling it so I can spend another day catching up with friends. But the MW's only do Tuesdays in the clinic and it will be my 28w appointment already 2 weeks late. If I cancel it, i may be 34 weeks before im seen again. However apart from having to get bloods taken, im not worried abut anything (apart from the homebirth) so I dont have to see her. decisions:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
Madbird, im not overly worried about my dog. Just maybe feel guilty that she will feel left out and maybe worried. My plan is after bubs is born to send OH home with his/her babygrow and let the dog have a good sniff of it , and for OH to make a fuss of her while shes doing that , so when I come home with new arrival she will know the smell. Dunno if your cat responds to smell as much as dogs do , but when my OH went away for work she took his t-shirt to her basket and kept it for the week , lolThanks to MSE for making it possible for me save to buy my new flat , yay !!
