  • Afternoon lady bumps :)

Hugs to Sharkey....MWs can be such a pain when trying to explain things to them and making sure they note stuff down on your notes......at my booking in scan I was explaining that I had a bowel condition but they didn't know exactly what it was so they were going to take me in for a resection after I give birth and she writes down IBS on my notes....I have had IBS since i was 16 and it was under dietary control and when I started suffering from whatever it is I have none of the IBS medications etc helped.....my Consultant was so confused he took all my x-rays ans scans etc to a multi-disciplinary meeting and they were all baffled hence the removal, lol. n I know this isn't the same as the strep B and I have gone off on a tangent but I'm only awake half an hour or so, so can you please forgive me, lol

Ema the baby shower was a great laugh although only half of those who said they were comiung actually turned up.......I had half expected that but I am now left with extra sweety glasses....who wants one???? hehe

Ok baby brain is not working.....No word from Lilac yet I will let you know as soon as there is.....labour vibes to all our bolded ladies and any one else that's ready to go and big hugs all round

Oh one other thing....the conversation at the shower was a little 'morbid' before everyone arrived as my aunt was talking about my cousin who's little girl was still born, but one thing that was pointed out was: if something is going to happen it will happen and it doesn't matter how much monitoring you are under (this was before AH's story was released too) so enjoy your bump and their little quirks coz you will miss having the life inside you when it becomes a real little person......I for one, although I am sooo looking forward to not being in pain, am going to miss the little kicks and reassurances that the alien gives me when I am having little worry moments xxxxxx

  • Hey all.

Was going to do a longer post last night but I'd burnt my finger on the oven.

    Sharkey, good luck today.

Madbird, that's so weird! I was thinking this yesterday -

    Dear Baby,

Mummy loves to feel you kick and somersault, but could you please not bounce off my sore pelvis?

    Love Mummy xx.

I thought she was being too quiet when I was in bed last night, so I had a roll about and a prod to get her moving. :o

VB, glad they're sorting you out. It's the right side of my pelvis that's dropped but it's the left that I get most pain in, something to do with overcompensating.

I have a 7 month old kitten, Maisie. She has free roam at night, sometimes she sleeps in the living room, other times in our room, but not on our bed. my mum keeps going on about how I'll have to keep her out of the room and that I should start now, eh no. I'll get a cat net and see how we all get on when baby is here.

I had a couple of weepy moments, first was when I unpacked the crib bale and second was when SIL texted to say DH's cousin and his wife (who are due the day after me, they're having a boy this time) are going to send us up a load of baby girl stuff.
 Mummy to an amazing little girl

    Afternoon ladies and bumps!

I've just been catching up. Have to say I was also wondering about when to vaseline baby's bottom. As for the bodysuit/sleepsuit thing, I'm also clueless. Also, should I bother buying them in newborn size or should I just get 0-3 months? Just I'd imagine that 0 months is newborn?! Oh dear, I really don't know.

Just read about the Group B Strep. I don't think it was a particularly good idea, really. I'll just try not to worry.

Ohhh and I almost forgot. I think I felt bubs move for the first time last night. (fairly sure the other times was tummy rumbling/wind... sorry tmi) Was just lying in bed on my back staring at the ceiling when suddenly felt something move against the front wall of my abdomen (at least that's what it felt like) I stupidly then knocked on my mini-bump and went 'helloooo? anyone in there?' before realised I had probably just concussed baby and then spent about 10 minutes apologising profusely. Yes, I was very tired, I promise I'm not that weird usually. :o

ooo thats nice that you felt baby move. Im not sure if anyone is the same , but I dont like the feeling , its odd because you dont have control. My baby seems to do loads of summersaults.Im in a dilema, my mum bought me the carrycot for my buggy so I could use it as a moses basket (save on space ) then my SIL text me to say that she still has her m+Ps moses basket and stand if I wanted it and I could just get a new mattress. Im tempted because its gorgeous (we bought it for her , lol) but that was the whole point of getting carrycot , arrgghh !!
Thanks to MSE for making it possible for me save to buy my new flat , yay !!

  • Hi ladies, thanks for all the condolence messages, very sweet of you :) I suppose we will have to try and get a mate for Amber, but I am not looking forward to the introduction as piggies are notoriously difficult to accept newbies. We shall get a baby I think and introduce on neutral ground. I dunno, but it may be an idea to get two babies, that way Amber hopefully won't get fixated on one. We always said in the future we'd get at least a trio, but it doesn't work like that does it? When one dies, the other is on its own and it's awful. It will be terrible when my oldest pair of girls, who are 4 this year, get split up as one is a bit more insecure than the other and that turns into aggression towards other pigs. We tried various combinations of all our pigs together at some point, but it would always end in a scrap/teeth chattering etc. That's why we ended up spending a fortune on all our runs :o
Poor little girl must be feeling terribly scared and lonely :( Will go and put them out in a bit.

Sharkey, good luck today for your scan hun. Hope all goes well x

Madbird/Apricot - I also have two cats and will be getting a Feliway refill when baby comes. I fully expect them to be scared of him at first. Will let them smell an item of his worn clothing, and introduce gradually. I think they'll be OK though. They are in the bad books today as came down to loads of hair everywhere where my male cat has been scrapping with his sister (OH only hoovered last night). Dunno why he bothers, he always comes off worse! He still has a sore lip from when she bit him last week. He's quite thick TBH :rotfl:

VB - really glad the physio made you feel better! Can't wait for mine! I think my pelvis may be out, but it's my left hand side which hurts. We went for a walk around a couple of shops on Saturday and I was in agony after :( How often do you get to see them?

Regarding the free Boots Changing Bag - has anyone else had problems with them when ordering online?
I ordered some bits for my hospital bag at the same time as a pack of Pampers nappies, and input the code Jojo posted. It came up at the bottom as code accepted and free changing bag promotion. It also appeared on my Paypal receipt. It wasn't on my Boots receipt or order though. The parcel turned up today, but minus the bag. I will give them a ring today and ask what's happened, but has anyone else had the same thing?

Sorry for anyone I have missed out, brain is very mushy at the moment x

Did you have the changing bag in your basket Digital and if so did it deduct the price from your total.
I belong to the parenting club and tried to order the bag and it seemed to accept the code but wouldn't take the cost off so I didn't go ahead with the purchase :(

Hope all ladies and bumps are well today :)
I've had a good weekend - went to see The Kings Speech (like many of you) and enjoyed it despite being horribly uncomfortable throughout!
I've brought one of those special long pillows as I'm waking up in pain after lying on one side and then the other - haven't noticed much improvement yet and the pillow is taller than me so struggle to actually keep it in the bed with me :D

Saw the awful news about Amanda Holden this morning - so sad - can't imagine what they must be going through - makes me feel very nervous :(

Forgot to say caught up with OBEM, that singing woman, OMG she needed a slap! And why did he have to keep running off to get things at the start, why did they not have it with them, some were basics. She was so up herself.
I found it mystifying that she didn't just bring a bag in.

Ooog GL thats like me but my pain has been on the right hand side. It was the worst on Thursday night, but seems to have eased off over the weekend x

DP - I am going back a week today so she can monitor my progress and to see if my pelvis is aligned again. She gave me loads on good info as well, whe do you have yours?

Guinea pigs - I have two of those two:D (I REALLY hope my son likes animals!). Why not ring round some local rescues like the RSPCA? They might have a neutered boy and you can introduce him slowly to Amber. I did this last year when my boy died leaving his brother xx

Got mine in 8 days, can't wait! Really want to sort it before it gets worse. I fully expect to be sore on the drive home though, but no pain no gain sometimes.

We got Max from the RSPCA. He was neutered by them, which is why we got a girl to go with him for a fear of a boy with his bits in tact bullying him. Funnily enough they did have loads of piggies up for rehoming at the RSPCA before, but only got a pair of boys on there now. We saw some young girls on Saturday when we went to Wyevale, so considering getting one of them. Want one as young as possible so she can be accepted.

Our boy has GOT to like animals, it's in the blood :D We have two cats, the guinea pigs, plus one huge fish tank, a medium one and a small one and I did have a horse until I sold him last year. Had hamsters for years and years as well. Total animal lovers

Thanks everyone re cats, I'd forgotten about Feliway, will ask at vets.

Oh Digital just seen your post and your boy is or was like mine re scrapping with his sister, who we sadly lost last year to cancer:(. He'd start the playfight, by tapping her and she'd end it with some harsh right hooks with claws out whilst holding him in a headlock!! :D Strangely he hasn't had a puffy eye since we lost her! TBH he is a bit thick too, although we spell "sweets" out to him and he understands that!

I don't think he will climb into moses basket or cot (his sister would have done either that or the boxes they came in!), he'll be on the bed with me as usual. I don't seem to have done too badly as my mum often reminds me I used to share my cot with two cats at times:eek::D One hated being picked up so they couldn't lift him out as they thought it would wake me when he hissed! They decided in the end he was a guardcat.

The bit about the headlock made me laugh! Sounds so familiar! Abira gets Joey in a headlock, then boxes him with her back feet! He always starts the fight and she always ends it. Really no idea why he bothers! She is responsible for a small split in his ear (was a hole, then she ripped it again), numerous scratches on the nose and cut lips (last one had to go to vets for injection, and have a horrible feeling this one will need seeing too as well). He always pulls her hair out (she's a long hair) and leaves it all round the house in clumps! Must hurt her and drives me mad!
So sorry to her your girl passed on :(
