  • I would have thought we knew best (!) but when I queried dating scan accuracy, I was quite impressed by their margin of error, it is pretty small.

    What does scan say?

eta m/w told me yesterday that second and subsequent pregnancies the baby's head doesn't engage necessarily before labour, and it can move up and down, whatever. So maybe she was chatting nonsense?

Nothing to report, just checking for news of labouring ladies.

Actually quick question while I'm here, the consultant said first sign will be that bump will drop and should be very noticeable so I've been on bump watch for the last few days and nothing, but thinking about it I don't remember a noticeable drop with DD is she talking rubbish?

Basically she is saing the bump is lower when the baby engages but that can happen any time and is not a sign labour is imminent.

and the edd would be the same there is a 7 day 'gve or take' around the due date and baby will arrive in its own time

Well done new mummies :T and good luck to anyone labouring or hoping to imminently!

Princess Coupon - Did they change your due date at the first dating scan from LMP? I know when I ovulated and the date they said at the scan is exactly 38 weeks after I ovulated. Could be fluke but I was very impressed. The next time I saw the midwife she changed the due date to match what the scan predicted.

Bella - Boo to your OH :( I told mine that the baby doesn't need a cot straight away so now he thinks we don't need to buy one until after it's born. I think we'll have more on our minds than scouring ebay for a cheap cot in those first couple of months...

    hey up mummies to be...........

this is prob on the comping thread but thought i'd mention it here. Nuby's facebook page has a comp running at mo. basically you email them your 20week pics and
All submissions will receive a FREE Nuby breast pump AND be entered into a FREE PRIZE DRAW to WIN £200 worth of baby products on June 13th!
they were originally offering a bottle to all participants but the b-feeding police had a go at them so they are now doing a pump (tis gonna cost em a lot more but is brill they are prepared to change offer and not just cancel the comp).

worth an entry if only to tick something else off your lists.

I was just thinking starting to get a few neutral sleepsuits, vests etc he has already decided we are buying his brothers old pram appartently its like brand new, I've never even seen it, its a quinny buzz, anyone any thoughts on this model is it any good? I do think its a good idea as they paid about £500 for it and only want £100 for it.

Just cant wait to start shopping :)

Waterbaby has been quiet too so there might e a couple more birth announcements today if Sammy has started again. Exciting stuff.

Thanks for the thought, but no I am just finding it really difficult to read about births right now (congratulations to all, of course). Off to the midwife soon for the third time this week.... oh I hate my body so much right now.

The quinny buzz looks nice. Do they have the carrycot too? I think they sell for £120-150 on ebay for just the pushchair so £100 is good especially if you know where it's coming from. I looked around the baby bits in the supermarket earlier but didn't dare buy anything. I want to make lists first and I'm also going to be given LOADS from my sister and sister in law so should wait and see what they have first. I have bought some washable nappies on ebay and going to pick them up this weekend. I told my parents about them last week and my dad was going "Oh no, don't do it, they're a nightmare. We tried them with you." and my mum was gobsmacked and said "As if you were the one changing and washing them!! You were at work." :rotfl:

Anyway, I'm rambling now. I'm trying to hold off buying lots because I'm scared if I start I won't stop. I have nowhere to store load so stuff either as our garage is a bit damp but all the cupboards inside are crammed full of junk we've accumulated in the past 10 years. At the moment I'm concentrating my shopping efforts on preparing the spare room which is going to double up as nursery, guest room and study as much as possible. And it's tiny so have my work cut out.
