Oh no Dusty
surprised they have cancelled it rather than rescheduled.
At ours a lot of it was general talk about when you're sitting around BFing, making sure you have a drink, something to read / do, someone to phone for support. She did talk about positioning but gave us her contact details and said if we did have problems to contact her and she / other BF councellor would come round to help.
I think the most useful thing she showed us was 2 marbles to illustrate size of babys tummy. For the first few days she said it is really tiny (she may have said 5ml), then when your milk comes in it gets bigger, but still very small sized, just the size of a bigger marble. She said if we remember that baby does only need / get a tiny amount then it'll help us understand why baby needs to feed really frequently at first, rather than worrying that they're getting hungry too often.
Mind you she was quite annoying in a lot of ways, so have already arranged to call my best friend for help if /when I need it.
Sorry to hear the SPD is so bad MrsS, I did laugh at your midwife though! Glad you managed to get to the park but good plan trying to get a wheelchair or something so you're able to get about without hurting yourself more!0 -

Your GP can also issue them, might be worth asking the receptionist if she can arrange it rather than waiting until you see the midwife.0 -
Hi everyone, just popping in to declare that this is the 4th day in a row that I have not been sick:j I am able to eat again and I can feel my energy increasing every day- its so great to feel somewhat normal again:D I still have periods of intense nausea but its not constant, and my fluid intake isn't what it should be but I am deffo getting there. I can't believe how good I feel compared to this time last week, any guilt I had over taking the anti sickness tablets is long gone.
I'm 15+4 now (I think), and its weird to think that over 1/3 of this pregnancy is now behind me. Its makes it seem much more real now. I started have round ligament pains this week (which scared the bejesus out of me until I googled what they were:rotfl:) and my lower back is starting to ache so I guess I have a new lot of pregnancy woes to look forward to now.
Can I just ask what everyone is using to moisturise their belly and boobs. My OH picked me up some Palmers cocoa butter lotion and the smell is horrendous which puts me of using it. But I def need to be using something as my skin is itching quite a lot and its really uncomfortable. I don't have a budget in mind but would love to hear other peeps reccomendations.
Hope you're all keeping well x:starmod:C'est la vie:starmod:0 -
Thanks Ema, the receptionist said we'll be called with a rearranged date soon once they had sorted one so hopefully it won't be too late. If not I'll ask my mw for a quick run through, with the help in hospital too and a breast feeding support group nearby I'm hoping I'll be ok0

My employer requests it at 25 weeks but since I don't have an appt with midwife until 28 weeks (I'm approaching 22 weeks now) I called midwifes office to check whether it is a legal requirement for your employer to have it at 25 weeks - apparently not - think it's something like as long as it's a few weeks before your EDD - has all the info on Directgov.
However might just make an appt with my GP to get it before 25 weeks if work hassle me - might be easier0 -
Hi Ladies, I only usually lurk at it's early days for me but I know the answer to this one! You can't have painted nails with an epidural as they monitor the oxygen levels in your legs by looking at the colour of your nail beds - hence no varnish.Nail polish... it is fine..
:rotfl:why I love this thread
I think I'm gonna go ahead and have my pedicure anyway, I've been desperate to have one but promised myself I'd leave it til nearer the date. Alsoa colleague suggested the massage may bring on labour - not sure how correct that is but I'm having my brazillian wax done at the same time so I guess one or the other may do :rotfl:
This baby WILL NOT be arriving until mummy has had her hair coiffed and has been pampered to within an inch of her life :rotfl:0 -
Thanks - it's not like work haven't been notified of my pregnancy. HR sent me a form out when I was about 13 weeks asking about maternity leave date plans etc and whether I wanted to take contractual maternity pay, and with the EDD on etc. So they have already had notification on proper forms etc.Olympic Countdown Challenge #145 ~ DFW Nerd #389 ~ Debt Free Date: [STRIKE]December 2015[/STRIKE] September 2015
:j BabySpendalot arrived 26/6/11 :j0 -
Claire, I have been using Burts Bees mamma bee body oil which smells lovely, lemony and not too strong. I couldn't cope with the stronger smelling cocoa butter either. Isn't cheap (I think about £11) but one bottle has lasted really well, from around 12 weeks and I have plenty to last me between now and baby arriving. Have used it at least every other day which seems enough for me, might up it now though as belly is getting much tighter.0

lol! - I really like the smell of this - my skin gets a bit itchy but am just using any old body moisturiser I can get my hands on (am using up my body shop butters at the mo)
Perhaps others will be able to recommend better as I know you can buy special creams to prevent stretchmarks etc...but I've always been lucky on this front so far so have used whatever I can get my hands on!
I have to like the smell though!0 -
Thanks ema_o, I love BB's products and didn't even realise they had a maternity range. I like the idea of the lemony scent as I seem to be craving citrus foods, drinks and smells at the moment.:starmod:C'est la vie:starmod:0
