Random question but what are ladies taking to wear to go home in after hospital? I don't want to take anything that will be uncomfortable to wear.

Probably tracksuit bottoms and a loose t-shirt. Although saying that when my friend had her little one last year she came home in her pjs.

Hadn't really thought, but a good question :) Probably a pair of my maternity jeans and a loose t-shirt or maternity top.

Not jeans.. if you end up with a section or an episiotomy or just sore they will and do hurt!!!!

Leggings/joggers or your pj's are best IME

I've got A new pair of joggers from primark, a black vest and a zip up hoodie. All in black to make me a) look slimmer and b) hide and leaky boobs, down below etc. I'm planning on wearing them too hospital then getting changed into nightwear once there. Wearing to hospital means more space in my hospital bag. :D
    Don't forget the shoes/pumps.

I wore a cheap pair of loose joggies with a drawstring and loose tshirt. And flip flops cos my feet were still swollen. I'll pack the same again incase I end up going in.
Joggies were all I wore instead of jammies too. I had a few pairs in black as they kept getting bloody.

Right I know I'm a bit of a newbie and haven't posted much so I thought it was about time I did.

Had a thought last night when I went to the gym for a swim. I know I'm not supposed to go in the jacuzzi because it heats your core body temp but can I go in the steam room. My skin has been so bad since becoming pg and I have been going in the steam room once a week for no more than about 8 mins. Does anyone know if I need to stop doing this?

    Cheers muchly

    hi Claire
I would ask your midwife to be sure. It was one of the things mentioned in a book I read. I think its the same as the hot tub though as the baby gets too hot. It also draws the blood to the surface of your skin and away from the uterus.
Im not sure though if just a few minutes are fine. Id rather avoid it all together just incase.
if you ask your MW let us know what she says, as a few girls have either been away on a nice Spa break or are going, it would be nice to know for sure.

  • Im not sure what I will wear home from the hospital, Probably black on the bottom half for any leaks . So maybe black maternity leggings and a baggy top that covers my bum to hide my massive maternity pad , lol. Actually got a nice checked purple tunic from M+p's reduced to £15 so that would be okay I suppose , it will fold up really small aswell, could wear a black vest under for any boob leakage.I hate packing for anything I always worry that ive not got the right stuff , before I went on holiday with my sister I made her empty her case so I could see what she was taking , lol :o Much to her annoyance.
Thanks to MSE for making it possible for me save to buy my new flat , yay !!

    Morning all :D

Rubbish night sleep - OH was out so went to bed with my hypno dvd, woke up with a start at 2 to find he wasn't there (downstairs playing on computer ) then at 4  he came to bed saying he'd fallen asleep on the sofa. I really struggled to get back to sleep after than, then to top it off he said he'd not woken me, it was because I'd needed the loo . Narrowly avoided strangling him but only cos I want Wriggle to have his dad around!!

I'm planning on being attired all in Pradamark for trip home from hospital as well - black jogging bottoms, black stretchy t-shirt (and not forgetting huge primark pants ) Definitely a fan of Primark for the hospital, joggers were only £4 and they are very comfy for slobbing in the house I've found already!!

Claireloo, glad to see you posting, sorry I can't answer you for sure but I did think that the steam room was more to be avoided than the jaccuzzi in terms of heating your core temperature. Mind you I have been having hot baths most of my pregnancy, and women in hot countries have babies, so I'm not sure I've taken all the advice too literally.

If you can't use it, could you just use steam on your face, would that help?
