    Hello everyone!

Re: Baby name books: I do not recommend 40,001 Best baby names by Diane Stafford. It's terrible. Half of the names are either made up or words she's picked out of the dictionary at random just to bring the number up to 40,001 (some of them actually say that it's a made up name). At the beginning there's lists of names such as Names from mythology and astrology but then I was really taken aback that there were lists of 'Names for children of lesbians and gays' which I thought was really uncalled for as it makes it seem like these couples should be set apart. I suppose if you want to find REALLY unusual names then the book is a good one but personally, I didn't find it very helpful and found the internet was a lot more useful. Just my opinion.

In other news, baby was moving like mad. It's not even flutters but full-on kicking. I thought at one point maybe it was just wind or something and I was mistake so I looked down and watched for a little while (I was feeling it right under the waistband of my pj bottoms) and nope, definitely baby. I can see it kick. So either I am harbouring a kickboxing baby or I'm growing one of the chestbuster aliens from Alien. Either way, I can see it kick. Which is odd as I'm only at 19+1. Is it normal to be seeing baby kick this early?! :S

Yes - think so - especially if you are slim - i.e. not so much flab in tum area.

I am 20 +5 today and can't remember when I first saw the baby's movements but it was quite a while ago.

    Hello all :)

Working from home today, so loving that I can come on here for a bit of light relief from preparing a presentation!

Apricot - We had a couple of freebie books last time, which were quite good. Needless to say I can't find either of them this time! But as nic says, they are all much the same, with the exception of the made up names :o

Dusty - you are due a week before me and we haven't been to any ante-natals yet - so you are well ahead of me there. I'll warn the OH not to say anything about my creme egg/ biscuit/ haribo obsession :rotfl:

MV - brill pics! Love the outfit!

When are peeps leaving work? I've got another 3 weeks to go (to 37 weeks), which seems like an age, but I have SO much to do before i leave!:(
    Little Boy arrived 21st July 2008, 5lbs 3oz :j
    New bump due 7th April 2011! :T
    Arrived 6th April 2011 6lbs 1oz :o

Aiming to be mortgage free by 2022...
  • Thanks guys! And yeah I had a size 10 waist before pregnancy and then I lost over 1 stone due to morning sickness which took my waistline down further (waist was the only small part of me pre-pregnancy due to a lovely stint of depression, which put me off sports :( ). In fairness I'm seeing the movements quite low down (like I say, under the waistband) and that's somewhere where I've never had flab so I guess that might be why. I did a little bit of a google and apparently it depends on a lot of things. And I suppose every pregnancy is different. I have my anomaly scan in just under 2 weeks so will ask about it then, I suppose. Also have a health visitor person coming to see me on thursday as I'm a first timer and a younger parent so will perhaps ask her then. :P

Aaargh I wish I could get a decent nights sleep. I've been struggling to keep up with the thread but congrats to the new mums and MV those photos are so gorgeous.

I'm so glad to finally be getting movement, but they've been a bit quiet this week, just general fluttering no more big kicks. I'm 23 weeks today and haven't seen the movement though - must be the podgy tummy I had beforehand! Poor OH is trying to play it cool but I can tell he's desperate to feel it kick. He loves my bump so much. :o

On the clothes front I've managed to keep using a lot of tops that I didn't mind stretching with bump bands. I was really sceptical but my friend leant me two and they've been great. Just bought some Asda £9 jogging bottoms, they're really comfy but very thick jersey and keep dropping fluff everywhere!

We're off for a night at a smart hotel this weekend which will be nice. Got a Tai Chi workshop first thing tomorrow as well, so an early morning still which sucks.
  • Hugs Charlie, not good, hope you are ok xx

When I left work someone gave me this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Baby-Names-2011-Years-Favourite/dp/1905410689/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1298033840&sr=8-1

its quite good, gives meanings of names, daft celeb names, top ten names etc. But not helped me pick a name yet, not books fault blame OH!!
:heart2:Baby boy madbird arrived 15/06/11 by emergency csection weighing 9lb 13oz:eek: love him so much xx:heart2:

These are just the bog standard Parentcraft NHS ones. But i've found them really useful, most of the stuff I've already learnt from here but they are brilliant for my OH who really had no idea before taking them up. And it has generated a lot of conversations between us that we probably wouldn't have otherwise.

i'm leaving work when I am exactly 38 weeks.
I wish I finished earlier now cos I am so exhausted but I have quite a stress free job (most of the time) and my boss is great at letting me work from home when I need to. Plus I've gone down to 4 days a week which has rally helped.

Just don't want bubs to come too early - I want to be able to enjoy those two weeks off before he/she arrives. i can see me finishing work on the 18th March and bubs arriving on the 19th

Afternoon ladies and bumps! It's been at least a month since I last posted so you'll all have to bear with me whilst I try and catch up!

Welcome to the new ladies and congrats to the new mummies! It's all so exciting, I have less than 6 weeks until my due date and it's all becoming slightly too real now!

Well the reason I haven't posted on here for ages is that there's been a lot going on for my family, my dad had a kidney transplant just over 4 weeks ago, he's doing really well but it's been a stressful and emotionally tiring month. Me and bump are still plodding along, it was hard being 30 weeks pregnant and going to the hospital everyday to visit dad especially as it was an hour away and I'm still working full time but he's now home which is 2 minutes away from my house so it's much easier to see him now.

Went to my first ante natal class last night and really enjoyed it, think it was a bit of an eye opener for the other half because when we were walking out he went to me "Did you know about the mucus plug thingy?!":rotfl:I think he was slightly disgusted but strangely fascinated...

Is anyone else suffering really badly from swollen ankles? Mine are terrible and my hand (especially my fingers) are painful aswell. Oh the joys of pregnancy...

I think I went to a Parentcraft class (bear with me, my brain is all over the place and I can't seem to remember the right names for things at the moment) and I found them really informative. My OH enjoyed it too, I think it made him feel a bit more involved and we had some interesting conversations afterwards too! All last night he was correcting my posture and kept propping me up with pillows. I could get used to being waited on hand a foot all the time...;)
