Im definitely planning on spending my warmer months in stretchy maxi dresses! Just hope summer doesn't really kick in until after I've had bubs this year as otherwise Ill be like a sweaty beached whale (lovely image)

Charlie I would ring your midwife/ see if you can get a GP appointment, just in case you have done some serious damage it is better to be safe than sorry!

Im getting mighty annoyed today - doing some credit control for work and it always makes me angry! If people would just pay their bills on time I could be having tea nad biscuits and browsing the net!

Can anybody suggest a good baby name book? I've looked at online sites but I wanted to get a physical book to flick through - OH said he's going to close his eyes flick through the pages and use whatever name it lands on! Hmm knowing my luck we will end up with something like Drucilla!

  • Charlie that doesnt sound good , I would mention it to midwife. I myself sound like one of the "bones " family (anyone else remember that cartoon?) I seem to creak , crack and groan where ever I go. Well the pub was packed to the rafters last night so we couldnt get a table, just aswell as I wouldve eaten the curry and suffered. Went to the mexican instead , was great , dont have anything too spicy so feel fine today. Mind you I had a dream I gave birth to a little girl last night , 8lb 3 oz , lol.
Thanks to MSE for making it possible for me save to buy my new flat , yay !!

I got one free with a baby mag but have lost it. It was pretty good. I think they are all pretty much the same. Im sure youll get a cheap one on Amazon.
I had a look at a couple of websites too. I found it easier as I was looking for the meanings of Scottish Gaelic names. we have picked a boys name and its between 2 girls names now.

  • I need to get a book aswell apricot. I think me and OH will struggle to come up with something we both like. He likes really plain names and I like old fashioned ones.

I was in my nans on the weekend with me, mum, sister and cousin and my mum was making us all think of names beginning with each letter of the alphabet IYSWIM? Half of them were awful because we were just trying to think of a name for that letter but it brought out some that I wouldn't have even considered that I actually really like. Pity OH wasn't there - I hope he doesn't want too much say as when we first got together he told me what our first two children were going to be called and I hated both names!

  • It's tricky on the names front isn't it!

My OH is Sri Lankan so some of the names he liked (actually they were all for boys) I wasn't too sure about.

Luckily the girls name we did agree on so our little one has a name already which I am pleased about.

Friends of ours didn't name their son for nearly a month after the birth - they couldn't agree on a name - she's Indian and he's English so they were trying to go for something that would suit both cultures - they didn't manage it and ended up calling him James - which while a nice name, folks were expecting them to come up with something a bit less ordinary after all that time, lol!
  • Hello everyone!

Re: Baby name books: I do not recommend 40,001 Best baby names by Diane Stafford. It's terrible. Half of the names are either made up or words she's picked out of the dictionary at random just to bring the number up to 40,001 (some of them actually say that it's a made up name). At the beginning there's lists of names such as Names from mythology and astrology but then I was really taken aback that there were lists of 'Names for children of lesbians and gays' which I thought was really uncalled for as it makes it seem like these couples should be set apart. I suppose if you want to find REALLY unusual names then the book is a good one but personally, I didn't find it very helpful and found the internet was a lot more useful. Just my opinion.

In other news, baby was moving like mad. It's not even flutters but full-on kicking. I thought at one point maybe it was just wind or something and I was mistake so I looked down and watched for a little while (I was feeling it right under the waistband of my pj bottoms) and nope, definitely baby. I can see it kick. So either I am harbouring a kickboxing baby or I'm growing one of the chestbuster aliens from Alien. Either way, I can see it kick. Which is odd as I'm only at 19+1. Is it normal to be seeing baby kick this early?! :S

  • Cheers guys. I phoned the hospital in the end as my midwife is off on leave yet again! I swear she only works one day a week. They advised to go straight to GP if I have breathing difficulties and then the GP would refer me over to them. Otherwise i'm to rest up and put me feet up. I'm not having breathing difficulties and bubs is very active so i'm thinking rest ought to do it. Fingers crossed i'll be right as rain in a few hours!

    Cheers :)

Yeah most of the names in the book I had seemed to be just made up, I always say a name out loud as if im calling it at a park or something just to see how daft or right it sounds. The lesbian/gay things isnt called for at all.

I felt my DD kick at about 19-20 weeks, I had felt the flutters up to a couple of weeks before.
I felt them a lot earlier with DS and even earlier this time.
It does sound like youve got a wee kick boxer though if you can actually see it moving.
