Parking companies wouldn't carry out controlled explosions would they?

By they can and do tow away cars under the authority of the police.
    Witless!,

Do you give any thought to the drivel you post?

No they don't! It's not the Police who authorise this at Airports - it's the Airports thinking they are above the law and not bothering to react to the Protection of Freedoms Act. Whoops, BIG MISTAKE, Luton Airport and Stansted to name but two...

Why don't you check out the latest posts since yesterday on x-streem's thread on pepipoo?

You know, the one about being towed/clamped last week at Luton Airport. Luton Airport...where the Police have just stepped in and ordered them to STOP clamping/towing and are following x-streem's thread as well as being in dialogue with him about the alleged criminality there. This won't be the last of it either as the scammers who clamped his car definitely picked the wrong Porsche!

So you think the police have private knuckle draggers moving suspected bombs around do you?

Ever given a thought to what the insurance companies would think to this?

Like I said previously. You're scary.

Somebody over on PePiPoo summed up the whole question of "unattended" vehicles" and "security risks" very neatly:-

There is no clarification as to what "unattended" is, does it mean that no one is allowed outside of the vehicle?
If thats the case, then it makes a mockery of a drop off pick up area.

If a vehicle is within sight of the owner, then it isn't unattended, as the owner has it in view at all times.
This is nothing more then a scam by the airport operators and the clampit chimps to squeeze the last few quid out of a dying industry.

The airports could sort this out in a heart beat if they genuinely wanted to, like they do with unattended baggage.
If there is unattended baggage in an airport, they have the courtesy to put out a call on the tannoy before it is removed. If they can do it for baggage, how hard is it to do for a car which has a registration number?
It wouldn't be hard for the airport to put a call out if they feel a car is "unattended", for all they know it could be something as simple as someone walking away to get a trolly for luggage, or as others have said on here in the past, they went away to get a ticket for their car not realising that you infact pay on exit, its an airport for crying out loud, people are in a hurry not thinking at times, maybe late for a flight, not everything is a security risk.
Once they put a call out, if no one responds then there is a genuine security risk which you wouldn't want some idiot with a tow truck to deal with, you want someone who is trained and knows what they are doing to handle the situation.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

Hi first post so be gentle.

I dropped of a customer at Luton Airport without paying the £1.
I have since received a parking charge notice from APCOA parking in the sum of £80 or £40 if paid within 14 days.

I can see that others in the forum are saying to ignore however at the time, I was a driver for a minicab company driving one of their vehicles. I can only assume that my personal details would or may have been passed on to APCOA by the former company. Does this mean that as they have me as the driver at the time, I am legally liable to pay? My concern is that if the previous company I worked for have confirmed that I was, I may be subjected to further charges or debt recovery if I do not pay the sum requested.

I would really appreciate advice on this.

    Many Thanks

This is not a fine or penalty, its just an invoice requesting payment. Don't pay them, just appeal below with your details to get them off the back of your taxi firm's back, once they are writing to you, you can either ignore them, or use popla to appeal independently with our help.

Please don't consider paying these chancers they don't deserve or are entitled to your hard earned money

You need to email/write to them with this

    Name
    Address

    Date

    Dear Scammers,

In regards to the invoice received with ref number xxxxxx dated xxxxxx, I deny all liability to your company, if you reject this appeal I require within 35 days a popla verification code for me to appeal independently, per the BPA Code of Practice.

I have nothing further to add, and will not respond to any correspondence from your company, unless it contains the popla code. If you wish to find out why I reject all liability, pay the £27 plus vat to popla to find out

    Regards

Just make sure your company is up to speed on this if they are the RK of the car.

I dont have any contact with the company I worked with before.
I'm worried that my previous company may inform them that it was me driving the car at the time of the offence, would that then give them the grounds to start taking action against me.

    Thanks for your help.

Perhaps you missed my post above ? You need them writing to you not your former employers. And this is not an offence, this is not a penalty, this is not a fine.

And if they were stupid enough to try court that would be the first time ever, we know for a fact that they don't do court, they are not on the list below in 2011 that went there, 2012 list will prove the same
