An interesting development at Luton Airport...
    Towing and clamping suspended forthwith.

From pepipoo, " I'm not going to reveal too much at this stage out of courtesy for the police officer that has advised me. But, I was called yesterday by Luton Airport police regarding my complaint to Bedfordshire Police and the IPCC and I have been informed that, further to a meeting between the police and the airport on Tuesday specifically about this case, all towing and clamping operations at the airport have ceased effective immediately by request of the police until such time that full guidelines on administering the operation properly and effectively are in place and agreed by the police. This will explain why my "sting operation" on Sunday failed when I parked for 10 minutes in the same spot while filming and not a single tow truck in sight! "

So in other words there was no lawful authority to tow or clamp. Which sort of highlights the fact that we were correct. Been following that thread with interest.

Don't be ridiculous, that is not considered abandoned, otherwise everyone who parks a vehicle anywhere could have abondoned it. You really need to read some of the links you post up

You obviously have no legal training. Yes that can be classed as abandoned, and it could be easily argued in a court of law.

The wording is a parking company's sign claiming breach of contract. And the police have lawful authority, that has been said all the way through this thread. They have lawful authority throughout the land, not just airports.

You have been arguing the point that private parking companies basically have this authority, to which you are wrong! And that a private company is towing vehicles away has authority, but under pofa 2012 they don't !

If the police gets a vehicle towed, or give a fpn then that is considered action under authority.

I have never said anything of the sort. What I have said is that parking companies often work under the authority of the police, or the LA. And in those cases the parking companies are acting on their behalf.

    READ THE LEGISLATION

I wish I had taken a photo of the sign that I stood next to yesterday, stating that 'towing is in operation'.

:rotfl:So somebody walks 10 yards away from their taxed, insured and MOTd vehicle, and you think it could be deemed abandoned, and you have the audacity to say that I don't have legal training. Does that mean you do? :D

At an airport, in a security sensitive area, the answer is yes......read the legislation.

I suggest that you read it, there is no way a vehicle left for 1 minute be considered abandoned ! And the reason why they have stopped the clamping and towing is that they have no authority to do so, the fact the police have told them to stop is that they are breaking the law, pofa 2012 has made it illegal to clamp or tow without lawful authority.
