Hello all i have also received a notice from apoca and now have a letter from a debt collecting agency and now don't know what to do because the charges are growing do i pay them or wait it out
Yep, they just keep on rising.... all part of the game to try and get you to panic and pay.
But if you don't play their game... the charge demanded will suddenly plummet to ZERO. Because they will realise you are NOT a fool and they stop writing. And that is the last you hear of them.

i realise this is not going to make me popular but the bus lane at luton airport is on the main and only roundabout at the airport so why are people stopping to drop off there in the first place!! Where else could you stop on a roundabout and drop someone off- be sensible!
As a worker at the airport it is very frustrating that people think it's ok to just stop on the roundabout, and not always in the bus lane, to drop off, get out the car, get the luggage out and then get back in a drive off, leaving a trial of cars behind them waiting to get to work or to get parked up for flights.
I know it's only 10 mins for £1 and people are saying it's not long enough but it's taking them less than 10 mins to drop off on the roundabout so why not pay the £1? Then you won't get a fine in the first place
There are plenty of signs up and i realise when it's your first time at the airport it's very confusing but how can you complain when you get fined for parking illegally on a roundabout and bus lane? The confusion also means people are not always concentrating on the car in front so, if they stop suddenly to drop off, accidents occur and this is something that is quite a regular occurance. We see it all the time and i know i'm not the only worker at the airport to feel this way about people dropping off0 -
To answer airport worker....
First of all apcoa can not issue fines, or penaltys.
Secondly, at my local airport there used to be a free drop off area, now they charge, if safety is really a priority then this should be re instated, doing so would encourage people to use that instead of the roadsFrom the Plain Language Commission:

You are right Half_way and I agree, they cannot issues fines or penalties, that's down to the police but I still don't think it makes it ok to just stop on a roundabout, a busy one at that, and just drop off.
Free drop off zones would be the way forward but these airports are just out to make money unfortunately and these fines that they send out probably help which is why it's annoying that the public help them by stopping in the wrong areas
Thanks for your comments though, I expected to get slaughtered for my thread but it's just as annoying for the workers here0 -
Maybe you could suggest a free drop off zone to management as a solution to the problemFrom the Plain Language Commission:

LAW,
I hope you don't get slaughtered, especially as the forum has rules about that sort of thing. Unfortunately, you are one of the victims of the scammers i.e. if they didn't exist or were reasonable, people wouldn't stop on the roundabout and get in your way. As both you and half-way say, a free drop-off point would help.
BTW, I suspect the same sort of thing happens at Edinburgh now that they have a charge.0 -
If you read some of the posts on here you will see people getting tickets for a passenger jumping out of cars at red lights , this is not about safety it's about money generation only. The airport should provide free drop off points like practically every other airport does.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
