  • Next month will be exciting as my total amount owed on the mortgage will begin with a 3! :j

:money:fantastic news, your initial SOA looked pretty much like mine...just curious - what does it look like now? You are making mincemeat out of your mortgage, I think you can shave off couple of years off the MFW target year in your signature!! :T

Thanks for stopping by pennystretcher  and thank you for your kind words. I've just had a glance back at my initial SOA and was surprised to find that it's pretty much the same with the exception that I bring home about £300 extra each month, I've managed to get my food bill down to about £80 rather than £100 and I only put about £150 into savings each month and the rest goes towards the mortgage. I treat my mortgage op's as savings really as I can access them at any time, so I have a nice little pot building up. If things stay as they are then I hope to be MF by August 2018 at the latest. I would have been on track for Aug 2015 if I hadn't had to have my roof replaced and if my car engine hadn't blown up on the motorway (making me slightly fearful of cheap second hand cars ).

Crikey, that sounds scary MG . You're doing really well :T.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Mortgage girl how do you find out or go about taking money out if you ever need to ?

Some cars are defiantly more hassle than they worth

Thank you gg. :) It was a very scary experience, it was my first experience of driving on a motorway too...the day didn't get any better when the guy driving the recovery vehicle started to nod off at the wheel either!:eek::eek:

I'd just need to ring up the lender (N@tionwide) and they'd transfer it back to me. I've done it once before and I think it only took a week to hit my account. After my fixed term had ended I went onto their svr and it's just part of the package. It's the reason that I've never looked for a new lender or changed my deal, being able to access all of the money I've ever op'd is certainly a handy safety net. :)

  • Thank you BW. I got back from my hols last night - a coach trip to London with N@tional Hols. It would be fair to say that I feel exhausted now. I'll update a bit later on when I'm more awake. ;)

  • So today has been pretty uneventful. I've actually felt really tired, I think it must be because of all the traveling, so I've spent most of the day watching tv and pottering around. It's payday for me so I've done this months money shuffle and I've rejigged my budget a little.

It's been quite odd doing nothing today, I usually have a list of jobs to get through but I couldn't face making or working through a to-do list today, I do feel like I've wasted the day though. I've also felt quite emotional today, I think that's what happens when you finally stop, all of those things that you're too busy to deal with come to the surface.

So whilst away on my hols I managed to get a few bargain Xmas pressies. But the highlight of the trip was going to the Choccywoccydoodah shop and having some lush treats in the cafe. The chocolate sculptures were amazing, it was a bit like walking around a tiny Victorian museum. I'd really love to visit their main shop in Brighton one day. But for the moment I'm quite happy being back home and snuggling under the blanket.
