  • Thanks Cath - no plans as yet. I've got a few ideas buzzing around my brain but I'm going to make lots of time for rest and relaxation to begin with and not launch headfirst into anything. I'm going to focus on doing the things I love such as reading, writing, yoga and running and then see how things pan out once I'm feeling rested.

It's been a crazily busy year at work so I'm looking forward to stopping for a bit and then having a more gentle and paced approach to work.

Thanks savingholmes. Just 4 more days to go until my holiday starts. I'm certainly hoping to relax although I'm so used to being geared up and flitting from one thing to another that I may find it a bit difficult at first!...Although oractice makes perfect. ;)

  • Well, what a dull and dreary day it is today - whoever has stolen August and replaced it with October can you swap it back please?

I've had a lovely break so far making lots of homecooked meals from the garden produce. I didn't plant too much this year but what I did plant has been abundant - so far I've had plenty of tomatoes, peppers, courgettes, basil and rhubarb as well as enough eggs from the chooks to keep myself and my nearest and dearest well stocked. I've got plenty of cucumbers and melons which are in the process of ripening too, so I'm a very happy gardener and the best bit is that I'll be able to save some seeds from the strongest plants and grow them again next year.

Yesterday I discovered that my local library loans ebooks and audiobooks through the borrowbox app, so I've been having a good look at what's on offer and from my first impression it seems fantastic, it's already saved me some money as a book I wanted is available as an ebook. I had a bit of a misconception that they'd only have old books available (I don't know why I though that) but that isn't the case and I'd recommend that fellow book-lovers check to see whether their library offers this service. You can also download magazines too, which is something I've done in the past. So definitely get your fill of thrify, book-shaped (well, not really) entertainment if you can. :) I did also manage to get some cheap pre-loved books from a book group on fb, so for the rest of the hols I'll be hiding away in any nook and cranny I can find with a book in hand.

Right, I've got a pile of ironing that needs tackling so I'd better crack on with it - on the bright side, I'll be able to listen to an audiobook whilst I do it! :D

Garden produce sounds brilliant and a great haul.

Weather is truly dreadful isn't it. Really does feel like Summer is over already (although did it ever begin?)
    June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!
  • Oh I know, I love it (the garden produce that is - not the weather). We had an incredibly hot week but then it's gradually cooled off. The weather does always improve in September though and tends to stay warm until at least mid-October, so we've just got a couple of weeks to wait! :rotfl:

    Hello MG,

Having you stop by my thread reminded me that I've not been over to your diary for some time... and... OMG.... I didn't realise that you were mortgage free.... that's amazing! :T So happy for you.

I see that you also had some not so good personal events, though I hope that you are feeling better in yourself and about life by now.

Did you go part time in the end? If so, how are you enjoying that?

Here's hoping 2020 will be a good one for you

    Big hugs

Hey BW - so lovely to hear from you. I've not been on here for ages as life has been busy (in a good way). Yes, I went part-time in September which has been fantastic and I've also set myself up in business part-time - although lockdown hit and has put a temporary halt to it. I'm also working on getting my blog up and running. I enjoy writing and have had a few blogs over the  years which I've let lapse due to not having the time but I have more time now so decided to get writing again. It's a money saving blog which I'm hoping will help people on their own mortgage and debt free journeys. I'm not sure if we're allowed to put links in our posts so I won't, but I may add it to my bio if I'm able to.

I'm pleased to say that the last year has been a good one, I've had more time to focus on the garden and doing the things I love (running, yoga, meditation, reading etc) since cutting my hours at work. I also recently got engaged, although lockdown has meant that we've not been able to see eachother, but we're lucky that we have so much technology available to us that makes it easy to stay in touch.

So life is good and I'm very happy at the moment in my little blissful lockdown home.

    Hi MG.
Great to hear from you and what a lovely update.

Firstly many congratulations on your engagement, that's great news.  So happy for you as I remember you were quite down after your previous relationship broke down.  Good that you have met someone new and things are going great.  Hopefully you can see each other soon

Glad to hear that part time is still working well for you.  The business sounds good too, though it's  shame current events have put a halt to it.
I'm interested to hear you have a blog.  If you wanted to share, drop me a DM.

Wishing you continued good health and best wishes for the future.
    BW x
