  • Good morning! :hello:

Hooray it's the middle of the week! :j That means we're nearer Friday! :D

Had a NSD yesterday as DH paid for our dance class – I'll pay next week.

Tonight I'm off to the pub with a couple of friends for a meal and the quiz! :T

House is a bit of a tip so will try to do some decluttering and cleaning at the weekend. :o We're out at my mum's tomorrow night for dinner and to DH's cousin's for a takeaway on Friday night so at least we won't make much more washing up by then.:rotfl:

taplady – I hope it goes ok at hospital today. :)

hester – I can't believe you got a pay rise then had to take a pay cut!

    esmf73 – Glad you've been paid! :T

jc2703 – Well done for handing your notice in. :)

adelight and flutterby – Hope you feel better soon. :grouphug:

I hope everyone has a good day. :)

    Lily x

P.s. OMFG, a work colleague is playing a CD full blast of his child singing. I know parents are proud of their children but do we all have to suffer?!:rotfl: Someone just said quietly 'is it just me, or does that sound really flat?' :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Morning all! It's wet and wild here in Glasgow, one of those " It sounds cold out there "days! Did todays flylady list yesterday, so I had time to take mum shopping for an outfit for DD's party, but dont fancy trecking about the city centre in the wind and rain. Will phone her and see what she wants to do. Big pot of chichen broth made this morning, so I predict soup and pudding tonight. Right, off to phone mum, have a good day all!

i am contemplating my navel and the meaning of life, today!!!---i am off work but have no sense of purpose in life!--the weather is lovely, i have a tank full of fuel , my daughter is fixed up with a place to go, my wife is off shopping and then to school YET i cant think of anything better to do than go to work!--i do wonder if i am missing a trick somewhere in life???----i seem to be doing nothing with my days despite no limitations!
İ think i am in my midlife crisis without a place to go---before i know it i will be too old to enjoy a more fruital life.--i find all the ruminating i read about on here is leading me to treasure my pay day more than life itself--i am now racking up possessions that makes payday less for me and more for the credit card but i am living between dates in more comfort--is that the secret of life or should i be hording money!

we should have a-- what better thing would you like to be doing today- commentary--i would rather be sitting at my seaside home admiring the view with a beer(and not worrying about my weight gain)--cant have total happiness!!
    mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.

Thank you Lily:D am flying on painkillers so although I've read the thread I can't remember who had done/was doing what so have borrowed your memory :o hope you don't mind:beer:
Not much OS going on here as I took a tumble yesterday (stupid knee:mad:) managed to badly bruise both knees & elbows plus caught my ankle on my stumpy step & cut & bruised that:eek: so now have swollen left ankle & swollen right knee:( & I don't even remember the fall! one minute I was taking the bird food out & the next minute I was hugging the kitchen floor:eek: hence the bruised elbows I didn't have the chance to put my hands out. Think I may have caught my face too as my jaw feels like someone has punched me, fortunately no bruising to be seen there though.
Luckily I have a menu plan & have batch cooked so no-one will starve & the weather is shoddy so I wouldn't be able to get out in the garden anyway.
DP is popping into town in a bit so have asked him to get some arnica cream & some printer paper & I will spend the afternoon sorting out recipes for me, & hopefully some cookery books for ebay.
Right I'm off for hot bath to ease my aches & pains.
Hope you all have a good day x

  • Julie Georgina - Don't forget the discount off you get from some supermarkets if you work there. M & S discount is the best, Sainsburys is variable which is a !!!!!!!

Not much to report here today. Brought my lunch to work with me like a good girl and I'm trying to have a NSD (something that normally only happens when I'm ill). I've got work til 8.30 tonight and then I'm going to my friend's house for cake and tea. I baked the cake myself for her birthday and I haven't got to sample it yet so I'mlooking forward to it!! Nom nom nom.

I'm very excited because I'm off to the big smoke tomorrow after work. My cousin is getting married on Saturday so I'm off for a weekend with my extended family. Babysitting Friday morning, Bingo Friday night and then a big family wedding in a freaking castle on Saturday! Have got my MS Monsoon dress hung up ready to pack this evening when my bf and I get in :D:D

I never thought about that! :T What a great idea... feels strange that due to the recession I have gone from career woman to secretery... and next supermarket worker. BUT I have to admit, I think my work-life balance will make it all worth while... I really want to spend more time at home!

I have been looking online for supermarket work... but there is nothing in my area... I have so many stores around here but no one has advertised jobs recently!

    Thank you x
We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy!

I used to sniff at supermarket work (I worked at M & S but it wasn't really a supermarket where I lived) but I work for Sainsburys p/t now and it's not bad. I wouldn't say it lights my soul up with joy :rotfl: and I work on checkouts with added responsibility so at times I am like ARGHHH but it is good. From a MS POV they pay over the NMW and you get 10 - 15% off and there's a staff shop of damaged goods where you get things really cheap normally because the packaging is damaged. I buy packs of 8 meringue nests that are broken in the packet for 10p, cans for 10p and other bits and bobs for loads less (got the blister plasters I like for 75p the other day and they're £3.99 normally). Plus the people are really nice. I met my best friend, loads of other good friends and my bf there! The only downside is that you end up spending on odd bits and bobs you see on offer/feel you need that really you don't need. But if you left your purse at home that would solve the problem! Saying that you get all that at M & S but the staff shop has much more stuff and cheaper and the discount, when I was there, was 20%!

Lily I can't wait! January has been so depressing I need cheering up!
