Re the painter right you need to realise that him buying/doing all the stuff and him wanting you to have babies is purely a cultural thing. My ex was Eastern European and he was the same. Just say something along the lines of 'I know that in your country you have to pay people back/buy things for the woman but its not like that for me/here so thank you but no, Im fine' He wont like it but he'll have to get it!!!! XXX

Thanks hun, this is all so true. My mother keeps saying "it's because he's Polish" every time I moan about him so I've also been feeling a bit like the completely ignorant person who can't handle cultural differences :o

@Souk How do you shake all these men off when you are done with them? Doesn't it annoy you when your phone is beeping with texts from people you dont want to hear from?

I know you can just not reply but that's not an option for painter because of the being neighbours situation (we try to not get in Jerry Springer style scenarios with the neighbours round here :D)

Oh I know but I just couldn't help it, the tears in a stressful situation tend to be caused by anxiety.

I felt guilty because I felt responsible for his being hungry because I wouldn't lend him money and I was furious that I should feel guilty at all because I barely know him and it's not my fault that he sent all his money to Poland leaving nothing for food.

Especially when he probably has way more money than me. I just work to pay direct debits :(

Have spent hours over the last few evenings watching the coverage of the London riots and now Manchester + Birmingham on SKY news. Frightening, sad, horrific, no idea what to say about it really. Thinking of all those business owners who no longer have a business over this, the people who've been left homeless or unemployed because their flats or workplaces have been destroyed.

The first night I was watching there were teenagers camping out overnight at my local shopping centre to meet Jedward for an album signing the following morning. I kept thinking of those kids as I watched the news and felt so thankful that they could do that while being safe and happy compared with what I was seeing on tv.

Hoping all my UK based friends on here are keeping safe and that it will all be over soon.

Had the lovliest lunch today at Wag*mama. It's not somewhere I frequent, I don't like noodles but I it was really busy so I must be the one missing out.

The shop didn't have a fee, just a refund for the food of up to €50 so I got to overspend big time on my lunch today.

Normally in a place like that I'd get the €9.95 lunch special which includes a drink but that wasn't an option for the mystery shop so I had a main course with rice instead of noodles, a diet coke, AND dessert (ice cream with seasonal berries) and a cappuccino. I've not needed to eat since :D

I spent €21.75 which will be refunded. I have to apply for this shop again in a few months. I would never ever spend so much on my lunch (or eat so much) unless it was for an occassion/meal out with friends. It's not very MSE but it was a real treat and I didn't have to feel too guilty about what it cost because it'll be refunded :T

Musician friend just rang with his problems :rotfl:

Girl he meets almost daily has been flirting with him. Now that he's finally noticed this he decided to flirt back. So today he decided to tell her how well she was looking. She wasn't her usual chatty self and couldn't get away fast enough.

So I enquired if she was actually looking well when he said it. Turns out this girl who usually wears dresses was wearing a tracksuit with her hair very frizzy from the rain. She had thought he was away somewhere with the band and hadn't been expecting to meet him.

Looks like she's been dressing up specially for him and was absolutely mortified to have run in to him in such a casual state :rotfl: Now he feels like a fool for having told her how well she looked when clearly she didn't feel that she was looking well.

Although it is good to know that he still thought she looked great even if she didn't think so herself :)

Now he's worried she might never speak to him again! I promised him she would get over it in a bit.
