  • Dear Expert,

Am a good spender with Orange. Was paying £50 for 400 minutes. Called disconnections and got 500 minutes for £25, together with new Sony P910i worth £480 FOR £4.95! Can sell my old P900 on ebay for at least £150. Ta very much.

Heard you on about basic bank accounts yesterday. Check out: http://www.fsa.gov.uk/consumer/pdfs/bank_account.pdf

called Orange to see whta they can do for me. Currently on their Square Deal plan:

    - 120 min anytime/any network
    - 250 text
    - unused minutes roll over (not since the start...)
    - cost 25.00 per month

    they offered me:

    - 120 min anytime/any network
    - 150 text
    - no more rolling over
    - cost 15.00 per month
    - free SE K700i phone

not the best offer, but I guess one has more leverage when spending more per month and my bills were usually below 30.00 per months, so I guess I take it...

Would have loved to get the SE T630, but they don't do it. If anyone likes to swap (new for new), please message me.

I have a Vodafone phone contract with 900 Off-Peak Minutes and 50 Free Texts but it's through Dialaphone rather than Vodafone direct. Does anyone know if they do the same kind of offers?

If not I'm thinking of going over to 3 for their 500 minutes anytime. I'll only use the 2G coverage anyway !!!!

Any ideas/suggestions would be most helpful and gratefully received.

    Thanks

According to other discussions on the board (and the T&Cs) you don't appear to be able to change from vodafone to vodafone (or within other networks for that matter). *One way to keep your number is to transfer it to a non-vodafone pay as you go sim (cheap or free - again discussed elsewhere) then back to vodafone a little later. *You need to request a PAC code from vodafone before you cancel the contract.

Search for PAC/portability on the discussion board - also currently on the front page at the moment under

I haven't had to do this therefore don't know the full details, timescales etc but this has been covered by others (including the steps).

    Kind regards

    Mr B

Correction to the above statement. I have been with Vodaphone for 4 years, and it's possible to move between Voda to Voda. You must go through diferent supplier. You can move from Vodaphone Direct to CPW Vodaphone. Phones4u was as a option as well till it has been sold recently.
Example: Had my Voda contract with Phones4u for 1 year, wanted new phone for free so recuested PAC number and moved to Vodophone direct. After 1 year moved from Vodaphone direct to CPW Vodaphone. Everytime you move with PAC number you are treated as new customer and not like upgrading one. Good luck!

  • Thank you for your advice, last night I re-signed 2 phone contracts with orange and saved £££'s

First of all I noticed that orange have an exclusive online tariff of £15 a month. For this you get 120 minutes (anytime, any network) a free bluetooth camera phone & with a bit of haggling 30 free text a month. This has saved me £10 a month on line rental excluding the savings from the free text.

My second bit of haggling produced the following deal and will save me around £270 a year. 500 minutes (anytime, any network), free T610 bluetooth phone, 30 text a month & £15 cash back for £25 a month inclusive. Currently I get 120mins a month for the same price.

    Great deal, thanks
  • I have a Sony Ericsson P900 on an O2 Business Plan (100 minutes, 50 Texts) where my calls have ranged from £100 to £300 per month. Recently they sent me a text message saying I could upgrade as my contract finished. I called them employing the above tactics asking for a 910i or I would leave.

They said it would be £250 to upgrade to that handset, so I said Id like to leave. They asked why and I said theres better tariffs out there (quoting '3' and 'chatterbox' with good phones which I could then sell and buy a P910i. They said 'fine, do that'.

I said i'd think about it. I dont seem to have had the same luck as others, where did i go wrong?

Oranabana, sounds like a good deal to me, 120 xnet and 150 texts for £15!! Can't understand why you would want to swap a superior phone (K700i) for an inferior one(T630)!!!
I say what I like, I like what I say!

Just spoke to a very nice lady at Orange cust relations on 0800 number given previously. Said i wanted an upgrade to a Samsung D500 from my Ericsson T610 and was thinking of leaving Orange. My current 12 month deal finishes at end of Feb and i've been with Orange for several years.I mentioned an offer for new contract with T Mobile with the phone and half price monthly tariff for 11 months i'd seen on mobilesuk.net

    My current tariff is O2 100 equivalent, i.e. 100 x network mins and 100 texts for £25 p month.

She eventually offered me the new phone free and 120 x network mins and 60 texts for £15 p month but couldn't go any further.

I added a further 60 text bundle at £4 so i now get a cracking new phone with the latest features,120 mins and 120 texts for £19 per month.

I therefore save £72 for the year and get 20 more mins and 20 more texts.

Really pleased. Try it. It worked for me !!

It was time for my annual upgrade. So I resorted to my usual tactic and asked for the PAC code to transfer my number from Orange to o2, this immeadiatly got me through to 'retentions'.

I was on 200 cross over minutes, 120 texts, and 3mb gprs and paying about £40,

I vary rarely exceed this amount

    I now have 240 crossover minutes, 90 texts, 3mb gprs for £23 and a new C500 phone.

    That'll do me.

(The PAC code is to authorise you to port your number from one servce provider to another)

I currently have 2 Samsung E700's on T-Mobile (300 mins anytime, any network, £30 p/m). They're both due to finish end of Feb so I rang T-Mobile & told them I wanted to cancel, just to see what they'd offer me. The bloke offered me a free Nokia 6230, 200 mins & 200 texts for £30 p/m. Told him I was after a Samsung D500. He said he'd give me one free with 200 mins & 50 texts for £30 a month. Told him I'd think about it.

I decided to shop around & noticed Orange were doing a free D500, 200 mins x-net & 200 evening mins & 1000 evening texts & £50 credit for £30. So I decided to call T-Mobile again. They put me through to the same guy & I told him about the deal. He said he couldn't match the offer & could only offer me the previous offer. I told him I'd get back to him yet again.

I FINALLY made up my mind to ditch T-Mobile & move to Orange so I rang them to cancel. This time I spoke to a different bloke who asked me why I wanted to leave. I told him about the Orange offer. He put me on hold for a few mins. When he came back he said he'd do a free Samsung D500, 400 mins anytime, any network & 1000 texts to use anytime for £30 p/m. Needless to say, I took him up on his offer :)
