  • I have been tempted / fighting with myself over taking the plunge with 3 and the £25 for 500 XN calls. But, given the problems that are constantly arising it seems you could end up with people just not bothering to call you after a few times. So I hunted around for comparable deals on a better network (because Orange said i wasn't valuable enough! I have been with them for about 8 years and many thousands of my pounds have lined their pockets). Getting to the point! I have just resigned with Orange through https://www.e2save.com (new number though - the old one is converted to pay as you go, so incoming only). They have given me the Sony Ericsson K700i, bluetooth headset and a bag of accessories with 400 XN minutes which can rollover for 1 month, plus 400 XN minutes in the evening which cannot rollover and 1000 texts to use in the first six months for £50 month, but there is a cash back on 6 and 12 months totalling £170 (£200 without the bluetooth headset). If you work it out the deal costs £35.83 or £33.33 w/o headset per month. For 800 XN minutes per month on a good network I reckon it is as good a deal as you will find - although given my rapidly increasing paranio to all commercial companies out there constantly trying to screw us - I am anticipating a good kicking along the way.

    SUCCESS!  :D

After calling Orange to ask for a better deal than 120 x net minutes for £25 a month, and being told that there was nothing better they could offer me other than a  new phone (mine had broken) as I didn't spend enough, I cancelled my contract.

Then I got a letter from the Customer Retention dept, asking if I'd reconsider etc. Before I'd even got chance to call them they contacted me, and offered me the same 120 x-net mins for just £15 per month, plus 30 texts a month, and the new Orange C500 smartphone for £29.99. Bargain! The phone will pay for itself within 3 months, I get to keep my number, and there's no hassle with changing providers/remembering to apply for cashback etc... result!!  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D
  • Spoke to ORange yday.

Mentioned the Select 500 deal and at first the agent said i cant be offered that.

However then he said that if i were to accept an older handset as an upgrade (say the sony errikson t610) then he could offer to match 3s tariff (select 500).

I told him i would think about this and ring back.

My average bills are around £35 so should i accept the this tariff with the older sony erikson t610 or should i push for a newer handset?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Kanjoose_One (great name!) Personally I would get rid of orange purely on the basis that they have become too big for their boots and treat valued customers like crap these days.
Ive been with them for 8 years plus (on contract) and I had a minor issue of excess billing charges. When I called them on more than one occasion they told me that they didnt have the time to go through my bill to explain where the charges occurred and this is supposed to be Cust Services.
My advice - leave them and go to e2save (owned by carphone warehouse) and look out for their £4.99 per month (cashback) 3 deal - free 7600, free texts and I think its 100 cross networks a month.

I have the T610i phone too and its excellent - even tho it is over a year old, it is still superior to other new comers - it has bluetooth, camera etc.

If orange can match it then great if not, have great pleasure in telling them why you are leaving and where you are going - I cant wait to make that call in the next too weeks.

    K ;D

  • Just been on the phone to orange again after calling last week and getting my PAC code as they would not do a deal.

    1st time i called i wanted the 500 x net min for £25 pm.
But nnnnnnnooooooooo we will not do that.

So i had my pac ready to, but i dont want to go from orange. So i called them again today.

I said check again for me, well i walked away with 500 x net min 30 text (might only use 1or2 a month)
    and a nokia 6230.

Nice one, as i was paying £30 for 200 x net min with 50 text.

So don't take no for an answer. get your PAc code then call them back.

    It's all about front.

You've dont it again MSE thanks

    hi everyone,

recently wanted to leave vodafone to orange as i had a deal with orange:

P910i free + £ 50 pcm and receive 400mins peak and 400 off peak xnet.

then vodafone cal me and said that they will make a better offer and hence pay £50 for the phone and pay only £15 per month.

and remember that P910i is the lastest phone and for £50 ...its a bargain.

    i end up saving around £300. ;)

  • matdoesit,

I did the same 12 months ago and set up a new contract with Orange in place of my existing contract with them.

I wrote to the CEO of Orange and asked why they couldn't 'port' my old number over to my new contract, I explained the only reason I had the new contract was because Orange couldn't match the deal I'd struck. Low and behold I get a call from the Service Delivery Team telling my phone may be unavailable for an hour while they port my old number to my new account.

    Always worth asking

Yipppppeee - I followed Martin's suggestion for a better deal on my mobile and managed to slash my payments from £45 per month for 400 minutes to £25 fo 500 minutes!!! plus they gave me a new phone which I am now waiting for.

Thank you so much for this piece of advice, I feel so chuffed that my bill is so much lower now - I can't stop telling people! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

By the way I am with Orange and mentioned the tariff that 3 were offering and that is what they matched.

    Thanks Martin!

    HI,

Not the brightest when it comes 2 phones.....
My mobile contract runs out January, i took the contract through e2save and my server is T Mobile. I'm paying £13.99 for 750 free off peak mins and 50 free texts, should it be T-mobile i contact 2 try getting a better deal and not e2save?
  • gario900,
Yes it is Tmobile that you should be putting the squeeze on. I was on the same tariff (BTW they now charge £18pm for this) as you and gave notice to cancel my contract as I was outside the 12 months. A week before my contract was due to finish they rang me up and offered to leave me on that tariff and charge me half price for the year. I still cancelled as I didn't want the number. See https://www.fwdcellular.com for the rent free version of your tariff, you only pay £60 for the phone! Not bad for a years line rental...
...and then the window licker said to me...
