  • where the hell has that gone then!! oh man

Thanks for all the help everyone - as soon as the mechanic has taken a look i will report back. He'll probably need to take it away (or i'll get it to him) for him to actually diagnose the problem.

Once i know i suppose I can make a decision on it then. Hope it can be repaired for like £500 (thats all i have)

Probably got dislodged when the engine fell on the mount, and is not too far away but even if it’s not it’s not important as long as you remember to keep fingers & hair out of the moving bits
  • Best case scenario-new engine mount say £50-100+ labour(not much to do that).
  • i cannot imagine that the pulleys are bent there isnt enough leaverage on the cam shaft to bend them they would have snapped of if anything cam shafts are cast so bending one is pretty difficult
  • I would have thought that the cam pulleys would have 'shattered/cracked' rather than bent the camshaft, having come into contact with that engine mount.

The engine was running for a moment and then i turned it straight off....

The damage to the pulleys is superficial and the belt appears to be running true. If you switched the engine off rather than it stopping on its own I would assume timing is fine. Hopefully with a new mount and cover problem will be solved. It may be wise to replace the pulleys to prevent the sharp edges damaging the belt.
  • Thanks Norman
  • I noticed a cam belt sticker on engine cover so did your service include a new cambelt?
  • no that was done prior to me buying the vehicle.
  • Have you had the car long then?
