Engine Blown What to do??
Comments

Thanks esmerobbo - i'll see what my mechanic friend says tonight.0

As others have said it looks like failed engine mount followed by bent pulleys
it might not seem like it but that's what you call a "result" as, as long as the belt hasn’t slipped, repairing is all simple outside engine stuff which will be relatively cheap.
What ever you do, don’t try and start it as the belt looks intact and it would be a really really good idea to keep it like that.
I’d jack the engine up so the pulleys are not touching and turn it over by hand to see if all the valves are intact. If it feels like they are then a flick on the starter would be next having killed the fuel supply to make sure it doesn’t start.0 -
Hard to say a cost... It'd would need stripping down... The angle of the Cam Wheels dont look to good.. maybe they're buckled? maybe the camshafts are bent? Depends on if the Belts slipped?..
Was it still running when the noise kicked off?...0 -
Are the cam wheels true as in inline or they bent buckled?... Hard to tell the more I look at the Pics.0

they dont look buckled up close (not to me). The engine was running for a moment and then i turned it straight off......when i looked under the bonnet thats what i saw so havent turned it back on.0
-
they look out of true to me, I've assumed it's the pullys have bent as I'd have thought they would be weaker than the cams.
Could be wrong though0 -
Should those wheels be cover by a plastic cover or something - someone said earlier that they shouldnt be on show??0

Correct should have a plastic cover on.0 -
i would try and get the mount fitted back on and start up again and see if it starts
if it does then i would get two new pulleys and a new belt and off you go
did it actually stop or just make a nasty noise ive had mounts snap and take bigger chunks than that out of cogs and the engine has still run again after refitting the mount0 -
I would'nt be trying to start it until you know the Cam Wheels are straight.. And if they are I'd be checking the wheels teeth to see how bad that damage is where its been rubbing on the mount.. Cambelt wont like running on that.0
