Quite an entertaining thread with lots of different views and thinking. I just wish to say that people who are committing Benefit Fraud should be reported because they are stealing from the public purse.

The DWP never ever give any clue where the information has come from, even if they knew.

If a person wants to commit Benefit Fraud it is obvious that he/she should not say anything to anyone about what they are up to. Most of the people that are caught cannot help themselves by boasting about what they receive and what they are doing. Some people might do nothing about it but word soon spreads and there is bound to be someone who feels as strongly as I do and picks up the phone.

Don't forget that the person reporting it is never told what the result of any investigation is. The claimant may be seen to continue to go to work or live with someone. After all, it is not the DWP's intention to stop the working etc. but to stop the Benefit Fraud. The only clue may come from the claimant who may say that their Benefit has stopped because of.... But then again, they may not say anything at all, knowing that it was their big mouth that got them into the mess in the first place!

Do you know what? I am getting really, really sick and tired of people like you, who appear to happy for benefit theft to continue and accuse long standing posters of being benefit bashers. I am tired of people like you full stop. You and others like you think that by trotting out the tired old sh1te about the Royal Family (although I haven't seen you refute krisskross' post about the Royal Family - might I suggest it is because you don't have the intelligence?) and the bankers you'll deflect attention away from the main point. Which is benefit fraud.

We all civic responsibility - this means not standing by while someone is defrauding the state and gloating about it and not standing by while someone gets their head kicked in at a tube station.

Look up the phrase civic responsibility and try to grow up a little - you and your cronies.

You are coming across as unintelligent, spiteful and narrow minded.

Hope you feel better after your little rant.:p I'm glad you're sick and tired of people like me reminding you of the facts. Sorry it's a bit inconvenient and gets in the way of a good Daily Mail headline;)
The post about the Royal family generating millions of pounds in revenue is frankly laughable, so i couldn't be bothered to rely to that one, but another poster did, and put paid to that lie!
I have never claimed a benefit in my life ,- have always worked as has my husband.
Between us we are doing ok,- not wealthy by any means but not struggling either.
I consider us lucky. I am very happy for my taxes to go towards helping those who are less fortunate than me. Me and my family might need the system ourselves one day!
They're will always be people who cheat the system, but i am less concerned with people claiming a piddling fee pounds a week in order to top up a stupidly low income, than those who squander our national wealth with impunity and laugh in our faces while they do it.
The bankers and the corporate tax evaders are the biggest criminals in our society. The sad thing is that people like you are too limited or stupid to see it!

Personally all the people who I know who claim when they shouldn't be are the ones who boast about it.

I mean how else would you know what benefits people are on unless you are opening their post? I have no idea if my neighbours are on benefits or not and unless someone told me I would be clueless.

I agree. A friend of mine knows I claim benefits and I know he claims for his 5 year old. He only knows because we were talking and it came up. However, he is aware that I'm not faking it and I know he's not claiming fraudulently for his son.

There was a story in the local paper today, about a couples' attempt to commit fraud. It failed, he nearly died and she is on an attempted murder charge.

Better then being judgemental, unintelligent, spiteful and narrow minded.

Also with regards to 'civic responsibility' we don't live in the fifties any more, (sorry i meant I don't you can pretend to live where you like if it makes you happy) and neither does this Government. Maybe when you join us in this decade you'll get some perspective.

The kind of perspective the person you are flaming is trying to bring to this thread, its called the bigger picture.:rotfl:

I was advised by my solicitor that if our case went to court, the DWP have a duty to provide all the facts including who the report came from.
I don't know if I'm getting better or just used to the pain.

Given that you don't need to give any details about yourself when reporting someone, how would that work? I know in some cases, it is obvious who reported someone.

Ive been told by someone who did report someone for suspected fraud that if they wanted their case to be taken seriously it was best to give their details. As to your point, I have no idea, Im just passing on what I was told by my solicitor
