  • Thanks alliwantistosave and Eric :)

Eric, you raise some good points there. Honestly, the whole not having enough discipline bit - I'm not sure I do. The last 10 years have been 'start again tomorrow' and 'I'll do it this time' and it's difficult not to just go into a self-deprecating rant here.

I've been trying to write stuff down as I make it, but I think it will be more effective to plan it all out first and not write down something silly like 250kcal of cheese again!

I had a look at both sites, and although I effectively have to lie about my weight on Food Focus (because the weight select bit stops at about 20st) I'll have to use that one for now because it's free and funds are tight :(

My weight for this week is STS. I think the chart is wrong for me as I've lost 10lb in total not 8.5lb.

Yesterday I did 1500 of my steps (would of done more but one of my calfs feels like it has a knot in the muscle!)

Betty - tortelloni, definitely the better option...
    (hides behind sofa):eek::eek::eek:
i have the same phobic reaction to m that some people get with snakes and spiders and the like.
Cant go anywhere near it. (shudders) even reading the word in your post made adrenaline start pumping round my head (shudders again!) and if its on bread or on oranges - well thats the absolutely worst. eek!
    :-(

whaaaa?? are you sure we're talking about the same thing???
tortelloni is stuffed pasta (like ravioli, tortellini, etc) ... can't think why you'd have it on an orange....

wow that sounds terrible, in fact i have never heard anyone being affected like that, have you been checked for helicobacter?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helicobacter

Er, that link is scary! Lol!! No i dont think I have that.

My doc said it was normal for IBS to be related to high fat food - fatty food like red meat and fatty dairy can be a 'trigger food' for IBS sufferers

    http://www.helpforibs.com/diet/trigger2.asp

if I eat too much I get stomach cramps and horrible, er 'toilet issues' (TMI!!).

It's almost like I can't digest fat properly - like what that diet pill Alli does to people - but my body does it naturally! :money::rotfl:

Last time I was seriously affected was a few yrs ago, I had a burger king and then a chinese in the same day :o - was bed ridden for 3 days after that! Learnt my lesson! the doc said just stay away from fat and greasy food as much as poss.

Good news mazza111 glad to hear your scans show harmless cysts and nothing more serious.

SGTG - I see eric and alliwant have answered your question.
I like foodfocus.co.uk and try to use it every day as a food diary - but sometimes it annoys me as things can be hard to find. It's also tricky if you like home cooking you have to enter every ingredient and their weights! I go through phases with it - i'm gonna try to stick with it for a while tho, now I'm not on SW I need to use it to control my portions.

I am the same - have been for 5 years, hoping to kick the 'oh sod it' or 'i'll have a healthy day tomorrow' habit and get myself some willpower soon!

the worst for me is at night - I am full from dinner and sit there thinking 'tomorrow i will be good, i'll eat X and not have any Y and do lots of exercise' but deep down i know i will cave, it's much easier said in your head when ur not hungry or bored or emotional, then done in the light of day when everything's stressing you out and all you want is a stack of buttery toast.

But I think the first step to success is just acknowledging that I have this 'all or nothing' attitude that makes me cave in atthe first hurdle. Now I can identify it and avoid it.

sorry that was a bit long winded and intense all of a sudden!

Ditto! I can 'be good' breakfast, mid morning snack and lunch, but then after dinner something kicks in where I just want to keep eating even if I'm full. Then when I know I've gone over points/calories, I give up and think 'well, I may as well eat that cake/family sized bar/icecream and start again in the morning :( I do definitely have the same all or nothing attitude, and I'm very quick to 'fail'.

I think that's what going to happen with Everest if I'm not careful - I'll not do any for a day and then think, well I've failed, no point carrying on now!

AH ok, cos I said my bread had 'gone off'! I get it!! Was SO confused - wondering how you can have a fear of pasta! LOL

Yes! I am exactly like that - all fruit and healthy stuff and good intentions but by about 5pm I could eat an entire loaf of bread. Then, when I cave in and have something 'bad' I think oh well why stop now!?!

I am thinking of changing my eating and working patterns so that I can perhaps overcome it.

At the mo i'm eating 3 meals with snacks in between (small) and then ruining it most days at 5 and eating a load of cr*p. I do my exercise in the morning and then work all afternoon - boredome and stress usually make the munchies worse.

today tho I am going to have several small meals throghout the day, and then do my exercise at about 4/5pm when I would usually get hungry - that way I can have work done, showered and changed before OH gets home.

    hope the plan works!

Dont let the 'oh sod it' factor stop you doing the Everest challenge - the nice thing about it is that you dont need to do it every day! So no failure!

    Hi Everyone,

Sorry to put a dampener on things SGTG, but if you are doing it on stairs then you do need to keep on top of it. I've done 1566 ft so far and that meant running up and down the stairs 188 times!

I don't mean to make it sound like an impossible challenge - as it isn't, but if you do extra on the days when you feel motivated, then it doesn't matter so much if you skip it on other days. That's what I've been doing... or at least trying to do!

Hello y'all. Thought I'd introduce myself properly :rotfl:I've been posting on here for a couple of days but have now decided to join in properly. (I'm usually on the competition forum)

Anyway, I regularly attend the gym (at least 5 times a week). I'm not dieting but try to eat healthily. I have 5 children (youngest is 2). I work part-time. I have a handsome husband :T - without trying, he is fit and trim  which is my motivator really. If he was fat and balding, I wouldn't even bovver :rotfl:

Anyway, I'm 5ft 3" and usually weigh 9stones 7 Ibs. I was my fittest ever before I had my 2 year old son!!! I weighed in this morning and I'm 10stones 5 Ibs  (need to lose 12 Ibs, I think) so I'd like to join something on here to motivate me - the 5 Ibs challenge maybe or any other. Thanks.
