    Thanks alliwantistosave and Eric :)

Eric, you raise some good points there. Honestly, the whole not having enough discipline bit - I'm not sure I do. The last 10 years have been 'start again tomorrow' and 'I'll do it this time' and it's difficult not to just go into a self-deprecating rant here.

I've been trying to write stuff down as I make it, but I think it will be more effective to plan it all out first and not write down something silly like 250kcal of cheese again!

I had a look at both sites, and although I effectively have to lie about my weight on Food Focus (because the weight select bit stops at about 20st) I'll have to use that one for now because it's free and funds are tight :(

    free is good :)

you have to decide deep down what you really want and then go for it :j

whaaaa?? are you sure we're talking about the same thing???
tortelloni is stuffed pasta (like ravioli, tortellini, etc) ... can't think why you'd have it on an orange....

Er, that link is scary! Lol!! No i dont think I have that.

My doc said it was normal for IBS to be related to high fat food - fatty food like red meat and fatty dairy can be a 'trigger food' for IBS sufferers

    http://www.helpforibs.com/diet/trigger2.asp

if I eat too much I get stomach cramps and horrible, er 'toilet issues' (TMI!!).

It's almost like I can't digest fat properly - like what that diet pill Alli does to people - but my body does it naturally! :money::rotfl:

Last time I was seriously affected was a few yrs ago, I had a burger king and then a chinese in the same day :o - was bed ridden for 3 days after that! Learnt my lesson! the doc said just stay away from fat and greasy food as much as poss.

Good news mazza111 glad to hear your scans show harmless cysts and nothing more serious.

SGTG - I see eric and alliwant have answered your question.
I like foodfocus.co.uk and try to use it every day as a food diary - but sometimes it annoys me as things can be hard to find. It's also tricky if you like home cooking you have to enter every ingredient and their weights! I go through phases with it - i'm gonna try to stick with it for a while tho, now I'm not on SW I need to use it to control my portions.

my dr told me for 15 years i had ibs, then i cut out gluten and wheat and it improved by 90% ...

Did anyone watch the Big Fat something to Low Fat food the other day? The model followed a low fat food and put on weight at the end of the trial

Not to mention all the artificial nasties and sugar. Give me meat and veggies any day

To join in the IBS discussion, I too have it. When I cut out wheat, the bloat I get goes down significantly, and strangely I am more able to tolerate high fat dairy products - just as well with a low carb diet lol. When I do/was eat(ing) wheat my gut would also cramp and rush things through if I ate too much fat, but now I can eat much more without any problems.

I'm not saying that this will be the same for everyone - I think we need to listen to, and take notice of, our bodies, something I am still learning to do. And I stopped watching the news - I can't be bothered with the dietary scare-mongering the media seem to love.
    Rant off. ;)

Keeping a food diary is critical if you want to loose weight imo

    1) It teaches you portion control

    2) Your just guessing as to what you are eating and its been consistently shown in studies that people underestimate what they eat by up to 50%

    3) It allows you to adjust your intake up and down by a small amount when you go STS to check if you are eating too much or too see if you are in starvation mode

    4) If you do not have the discipline to spend 5 mins a day logging and planing what you eat then realistically you do not have the discipline to loose weight long term and keep it off.

I use Vidaone my personal diet for iphone and I sync it to the PC version.

    http://www.vidaone.com/vodf_win.htm

Point 4 is a bit harsh. For some people its probably true, this is more of a lifestyle change im trying to undertake. I feel that the constant logging and counting makes it feel like more of a diet and something im more likely to do short term.

    Take care x

Aw! Thanks beanie, they are :) I went out with my friends today and had a lush time. Its hard from going to a cool looking 24 year old to someone in a wheelchair - its odd the looks people give you, like youre nothing and they would walk past in an instant. Really surprising. I know this is temporary, but it felt quite strange today to be in that situation. I hope you are well too Beanie poos!! xx

  • Evening everyone :D

I have had a good day step wise and foodwise.
Last night I made cupcakes as a trial run for the weekend and tried half a cake as new flavour Then iced them and went to bed. Anyway OH wasn't too keen on the bailey's in them so I took them to work with me. By Lunch time all 10 had gone so I didn't even get to try another one myself :rotfl: So I guess they were a hit with the folks I work with. They now want it to be a regular thing....... cupcake Friday shame today was my last Friday working there :(

Fred - 16 sets of work steps and 31 sets of home stairs today thank you :D

Going to be a difficult weekend for step's but I hope to get some done at work tomorrow that can count before I go to visit my Mum and have the family dinner on Sunday.
