Just to update everyone on my exercise and what I have been eating

Had breakfast today of scrambled eggs and cheese

Plenty of water during the day, I have been to the gym, and spent 10 minutes on the bike, 20 minutes on the treadmill and 20 minutes on the rower. Then swam 10 lengths of the pool (25 metres) - 19.5 minutes - timing it each time

Then I came back and had a butternut squash and red pepper pie - containing cheese, 40grams carbs. Then a handful of cashew nuts and a glass of milk.

Don't feel hungry at all, usually I wouldn't eat a meal without potatoes, and I always seem to cook and eat too many

the other reason I tend to stick to high carb and low fat (rather than vice versa) is that my IBS is triggered by fat and it makes me ill. I tend to allow myself good fats (extra virgin olive oil, oily fish, nuts and seeds, etc) but try to avoid fats in meaty and creamy food as it gives me stomach cramps
    (sorry if TMI)

wow that sounds terrible, in fact i have never heard anyone being affected like that, have you been checked for helicobacter?

55 sets of home stairs today thanks Fred but boy was my heart a thumping after I did 25 in succession  thought I was fitter than that :(

Anyhow did a little RT today which made me feel a little happier. I ended up Bra shopping in Debenhams (which made me think of you Vixarooni) I treated myself to a new smaller sports bra to start my C25K challenge next week. Also brought a dress to wear at the weekend to a family dinner. i also found out that when you have more choice you can never find anything you want :rotfl: When I was big you didn't have much choice so you made do with what was on offer, now I go into a shop look around and decide there isn't anything I would wear!!

Also it is amazing what a difference a little sunshine makes :j

Do you just have two meals chuck? For the whole day, scrambled egg, some pie and some nuts doesnt seem a right lot to me - do you have a daily target range for your calories ?

    Hi Puddings

I often do have two meals a day, breakfast and then maybe at about 4, or lunch and then eat at about 8. Problem is if I eat 3 meals the last one seems to be late in the evening and then I eat too much. I'm trying to keep to 1200 calories a day

Today I was out a lot, and out this evening and have to admit I had some crisps when I got back in - I have one packet left now and then that's it, I'll not buy any more while I am dieting.

I really need to be more organised but I was so busy today, hosp appt this morning followed by gym, came home and ate then out for a couple of hours this evening.

I don't want to eat just before I go to the gym, so maybe I should have a bigger breakfast, I aim to go to the gym at about 12 tomorrow til about 4, but this time just swimming and an aqua class plus sauna and maybe the toning tables. Then I'm out from 6.30 till 9.30 - so will eat inbetween

Well I've not had a great diet day today. I had a bit of a carb binge earlier - ate half a cereal bar, 5 crackers and a couple of slices of apple (stolen from DS's plate!). Although I'd been missing them, the apple tasted awful - really, really sweet, almost to the point of being sickly! Just shows what a few weeks on low carb can do! I definitely won't be eating them again!

I've also been a bit slow on the climbing front - managed 57 flights today (188 in total, which equals 1566 ft). I've been distracted by online shopping again. I spent around 2 months searching for a sofa, was so relieved when I finally found one that I liked. This week I'm back at it again, this time searching for a pram that is both cute, and can fit into my tiny car boot... I think it may take a while!

I did have visitors that stayed a lot longer than expected today though - so I'll blame them for the lack of climbing! :D

Keeping a food diary is critical if you want to loose weight imo

    1) It teaches you portion control

    2) Your just guessing as to what you are eating and its been consistently shown in studies that people underestimate what they eat by up to 50%

    3) It allows you to adjust your intake up and down by a small amount when you go STS to check if you are eating too much or too see if you are in starvation mode

    4) If you do not have the discipline to spend 5 mins a day logging and planing what you eat then realistically you do not have the discipline to loose weight long term and keep it off.

I use Vidaone my personal diet for iphone and I sync it to the PC version.
