Yep I agree with Fred, this climbing thing is only meant to be a sideline - maybe it should be on it's own thread???
Sorry Beanie (and Vix) if you feel a bit left out :-( What sort of exercise can you do - are you a swimmer? maybe the next event could be a virtual swim Dover - Calais? or can we work out a way of competing in virtual thumb wrestling?! or sit ups?

I finished the day on 91 flights of stairs. It wont be as many as that every day but will keep pushing.

Yes, having it's own thread may be a good idea as there are loads of us now so it may end up taking over the thread!

91 flights! Congratulations :j I better try a little harder today if I'm gonna beat you to the top! :p

Well I am very pleased to announce a 3lb loss this week - WOOHOO!!!!!! I've been stuck around the same weight for over a month now so I'm really pleased with that. I'm hoping that the challenge will help me lose a similar amount next week.

Congratulations to all the other losers, and commiserations to the gainers.

I've been loving the everest challenge, so I would be sorry if it had its own thread: it's been making me laugh. Won't be joining though!:D
Beanie - thanks for being honest about feeling left out. I love honesty like that so we can all try and do something about it. Because you matter.
I can't think of any suggestions at the mo but just wanted to acknowledge how you feel, and the frustration disability and long term mobility issues causes. You cope with much more than many of us on this thread.

Hi Mrs Seren. For those who remember her, I had a fantastic time at bails wedding last Saturday. The vegetarian food was superb.

Betty - go ahead and keep your food diary on here - anything that helps:T

Fred you are doing a grand job:T

Victory - i you are reading, hope you are 'ok', but suspect you are not:(

Big welcome to all the newbies this week. I'm losing track we have had so many since January. But please all make your self at home and join in - the support here, even from people who joined only a month before you is fantastic.

Maragaret - well done on your weight loss being noticeable, and for getting back into the exercise routine after being unwell:T

Vix - have I missed somewhere that you have had your Op? And any news on the new career start dates?

sts for me please fred. Happy with that.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Well - it's a 1lb gain for me. Something is not working for me.

I've been swimming 10 lengths each day, had my induction at the gym yesterday so at least I can start to use the equipment.

But I ended up really hungry, so I know it's not going to be easy

What can we do for our arms Vix?

A crazy idea just popped into my head - no idea if it's practical or not! If you are doing bicep curls or something with weights, how about adding up the weights of each curl/lift and aiming to lift something really heavy like.... a plane, whale, sumo wrestler?

Lol, I have no idea how much any of those things weigh, but if we can find something of a challenging (yet achieveable) weight then we may have found an alternative to the Everest challenge?

Yea, i had my op a week ago today.

Beanie: I dunno what we can do with our arms. Perhaps i'll brain storm it! Tug of war might be hard ted, we sort of need to stand up for that, and i don't think i can get a rope long enough! :p I am feeling ok though thanks beanie. I take my hat off for people like you and my father who can't do as much as others. Last night i went to a quiz with a load of old people, and they were all over taking me as i walked out. I've never felt so crap, i just wanted to chuck the crutches on the floor and run! Sooo frustrating.

Betty: When i was doing my thing, i was having this: Cheerios with milk. (i swapped my toast with anchor to this) and then mid morning break a bannana, sometimes 2 satsumas. Lunch: (this is the area i tried to cut down) so it was a porridge pot with another peice of fruit. Or a small pasta pot with some apple or something. Then dinner i tried to have less on my plate in general and more veg. Thats basically what i did to get down to 10 stone. What youre eating sounds fine, but perhaps its the evening meals that are letting you down?

Oh my god yes!!! I think the weight of everest might be excessive, but defo a plane or something!!! Or if beanie and i half the plane so we work collectively to achieve the weight of the plane. Well done Lolster!!

you are right it's def the evening that is my downfall - during the day i can stay on track but dinners are tricky due to a few things:
    1. OH is a skinny little thing and needs feeding up!
    2. He also works really hard all day and deserves a nice dinner
    3. I love cooking - so I tend to go a bit overboard!
    4. Dessert/after-dinner snacking is a big problem!

However, hopefully this can be overcome by having sensible but yummy dinners (HM not bought, SW or low fat style not calorie laden) and by giving OH the biggest portion at all times!
after dinner I just have to rely on willpower! and an early night!!!

good idea about cutting down lunch - was just thinking the same. Might try to stick to small portions of veg and carbs, or porridge or cereal.

It's in a bit of an experimental phase at the mo so any ideas are welcome! :)

I am same as you evenings are my problem. I eat rubbish when hubby goes to bed. I am having a tough time at moment as was pregnant with twins, lost one baby before christmas at 9 weeks and then lost other baby at 16 weeks just over a month ago. Hence I am having problems sleeping so sitting up till early hours eating chocs and watching tv(hubby has early rise so in bed at 9pm normally during week). Dr had prescribed tablets to assist with sleeping but havnt taken them. I am hoping to increase excercise and tire myself out and stop eating all the rubbish to try and improve sleeping patterns rather than having to take pills.

On a happier note well done to everyone who has lost weight this week.:j
