-1.5lbs can i join the 5lb challenge as well i dont think i asked when i started
it will give me smaller goals to aim for
starting friday:
i have cut bread from my diet, which i am not missing....yet!
i am keeping my calorie intake to under 1500kcal a day.
i have swapped my breakfast toast x2 with chocolate!!! or marmite for oats so simple in the morning (seems to be less calories but keeps my fuller for longer)
i swapped my sandwich at lunch for a salad
not had any chocolate digestives this week at all
i have now decided that i cant drink vimto any more (i gave up coffee when i was pregnant 3 years ago and swapped it for hot vimto, i have only just realised yesterday that every drink is 55calories and i can have 8 or 9 a day!!!!!!! thats almost 500 calories before i start eating!
i was kinda hoping for a bigger loss with the changes i have made but any loss is a loss so cant grumble, i am still doing my wii fitness games and been going for walks with dd2 (2yrs old so i have to carry her sometimes which adds to the cardio) but i only started my new eating regime on friday so it hasnt been very long
heres hoping for a bigger loss next week

wow! good start Betty? thats an understatement!
Even at a reasonable speed, (top of the stairs and back takes about 30 seconds) then it would take me 90 minutes climbing constantly at that pace to do your 1500'... not that i could ever keep going for 90 minutes non stop, 10 flights/5 minutes and im totally totally knack'd!!!
I dont know how you do it Betty but keep it up! - you dont have one of them Stannah stairlifts do ya!
But I'm not doing it on a flight of stairs - I have a stepping machine with a step height of 6 inches. My machine counts steps in twos (ie only when the left foot hits the floor again) so 1 'step' on the machine (which is actually two full steps with both feet) is 1 foot.
this Previous Post explains it better:
The space between the flat of your foot at the step's lowest point and at the highest point is 6 inches.
But my stepper counts 2 steps (left up right down, right up left down) as 1 - The count goes up only when the left foot goes down not the right.
So one ‘step’ on the counter is two actual stepping motions, which is 12 inches, or 1 foot.
So, say I did 2000 ‘steps’ (according to the step counter) in 1 session I’d have climbed 2000 feet.
So, to get to the top of Everest I have to do 11,328 feet, or 11,328 ‘steps’
I did 1500 'steps' today on the machine in about 25 mins.
I guess it takes me a lot less time cos I dont have to go back down the stairs again!! I can just keep going up up up! So I guess technically it would have taken twice as long if I had to keep going back downstairs.
I would love to do it on stairs but I live in a flat.
BUT to make it harder on myself I was doing exercises with hand weights at the same time!!Betty B: The Eternal Procrastinator....

aw beanie, sorry to hear that.
it's only a little activity on the side of the usual. there's just a lot of chatter about it cos it's new.
nothing's changed tho!!
(apart from me actually getting off my bum and doing some exercise!;))
hope it isn't a big problem. you could just skim those posts and ignore it.
Anyone heard from victory lately? hope she's ok.Betty B: The Eternal Procrastinator....

please don't feel left beanie...
I like the idea of a fitness challenge without having to go to the gym which is why I popped back into the thread...
Can you set an equivalent challenge?
11348 bicep curls over the month :-p
(or equivalent manageable thing....deffo don't do the 11348 freddo eating challenge that just popped into my head though!)

No, you can't take it back, it's out there now and I vote that for April!
Beanie, I'm sure all the fuss will die down in a few days when we're nursing broken ankles and twisted knees
It's not the only challenge I'm worried about either, I'm really hoping to actually stick to my diet (for more than 2 day intervals!) and lose 5lb - and also be on a winning team this month! Go on DIYers!!Paying off CC in 2011 £2100/£1692

glad you're feeling better.
Just watched BL final on ITVplayer - Wil and Paddy both looked great and had made loads of effort. I enjoyed seeing how well they did and felt a bit inspired not to give up on myself, things could be worse, etc.
Was laughing at how all the girls had their hair cut short - every little weight loss counts!hehe
Thanks, Betty.
Ahh, short hair for extra weight loss - I'd not thought of it like that! How sneaky of them, lol!0
