  • Howdy...

I've been needing a bit of an exercise push and love the mountain/stair climbing idea. can I please join?

My stairs total 8.75 feet altogether (14 stairs at 0.625 inches per stair)
so roughly 46 climbs a day needed :D 1 down already as I had to count how many steps there were :p

    Good morning :)

I'm doing bursts of 5 at a time, and trying to take something up or down at the same time - so tidying the house a bit as I go, AND avoiding the chocolate biscuits because eating them seems like sabotage! Puds, I think you're onto a whole lifestyle plan here!

    How are you all doing?

    SGTG x

ETA. 45 done before midday! Whooot :D Going to see how many more I can do..

  • OMG!!! more people joining our challenge  Pud's is not going to forgive me :D

STGT - Wow you are doing so well already I can see you are going to be a force to be reckoned with ;)

On the Biggest looser front - I really wish Paddy had made it to the final 3 I think he was more deserving than Zandela he also looked AMAZING!!! I wish I had someone take a lifesize picture of me before I started so I could compare the difference :( Rob really disappointed me I was expecting more from him and I agree about Claire WOW! And trained as an aerobics instructor too that is no mean feat.

I have been to Physio this morning (Very long story) but to cut it short I have very bad shoulders and have been told not to do any weight's or press up exercises at the moment. I am a little surprised at this as I thought maybe I was wasting there time. I also have some simple exercises I have to do every hour to try to start to re-build the small muscles but from what the physio said this is going to be a long process..... So I am feeling a little down about the whole matter :(

Oh well better get ready for work and do a few sets of stairs b4 I go x

    Hi princessjelly :-)
Hi serendisglair (unusual name if you dont mind me saying!)
welcome to the thread - and welcome to virtual everest as well!

SGTG - i'm just about keeping up with you, done about 45 before lunch as well (but the first ten of those were at 1:30 this morning before i went to bed - so suppose ive really done about 10 less than you in the same period). Can you feel "the burn" yet !!!!!

I like your idea of taking something up or down with you when you go, two birds with one stone and all that.
so have decided that when i go up and down i'll carry 25 stone of useless flab :rotfl:

Alli - i dont know what happened to Rob, he seemed to be doing so well in the house but in the weeks between him being voted off and coming back for the final, he didnt seem to lose much. He really didnt deserve to be voted off that week though, definite tactical voting, maybe he was sulking, thats how i would have felt i think.

    .

Oooh, this is going to get messy, and sweaty... I've rediscovered my crazy competitive side :D

I don't know how I'm going to keep up if you're marching up and down the stairs at 1.30am - I'm in bed by 11!

    *schemes*

    *runs back up the stairs*

    *wheezes*

    Hi Everyone,

Well I'm feeling OK today so have started the challenge - 15 climbs of the stairs so far, although I always run around like a headless chicken in the morning trying to get DS ready, so that isn't a suprise. The next 30 or so climbs may be a little more challenging!

Well I was amazed by the BL final last night! It is the first series that I have watched all the way through so I can't compare it to other series, I'd be quite interested to watch the US version though if BL UK doesn't give big results! Paddy and Wil looked AMAZING, the biggest change was in Sarah though - I didn't recognise her at all!

    glad you're feeling better.

Just watched BL final on ITVplayer - Wil and Paddy both looked great and had made loads of effort. I enjoyed seeing how well they did and felt a bit inspired not to give up on myself, things could be worse, etc.

Was laughing at how all the girls had their hair cut short - every little weight loss counts! ;) hehe

Fred - how are we logging our progress? If we all keep updating on here won't it get a bit admin-heavy for you???

Was wondering if we should mention it on here as we go (nice to encourage each other and keep an eye on the competition!;)) but perhaps we should keep a running total at home and give you our week's total progress on weds with our weigh in (or something similarly organised) just so it's easier for you to update the new chart.... up to u tho hun :)

Today I have done 1500 feet! good start :D

Had a big brekkie (was feeling tired and hungry) this morning so just had a chicken salad for lunch with low cal dressing.
Dinner will be chicken stir fry with noodles

Last night OH and I were both really 'munchy' eating toast and biscuits we didnt really need - we were just tired and should have gone to bed :( oh well, a new day, a new month, a fresh start.

My swimming teacher was surprised because I haven't been for a few weeks because of shingles. He thought I would be 'back to square one' and would have lost confidence, but I haven't. Also, he noticed that I've lost weight 'if you don't mind me saying so'. I said 'oh no, I don't mind anyone saying so!'

What a nice feeling to have someone comment on your success :)

wow! good start Betty? thats an understatement!
Even at a reasonable speed, (top of the stairs and back takes about 30 seconds) then it would take me 90 minutes climbing constantly at that pace to do your 1500'... not that i could ever keep going for 90 minutes non stop, 10 flights/5 minutes and im totally totally knack'd!!!
I dont know how you do it Betty but keep it up! - you dont have one of them Stannah stairlifts do ya!
