Hi Fred - I'll continue with the 5ib a month challenge - also please put me down for the DIY plan for the group challenge

I returned to the doctor today for the results of my blood tests - I have had a urticaria rash for about a month

I've been ok on anti-histamines this last month so have to take them less frequently and come off at the end of next month to see if it has finally gone.

Blood tests all fine except protein slightly low - borderline, 59 - should be over 60. Doctor asked if I was a vegetarian, which I am and always have been. But I was concerned about protein, and because dieting I have been trying to get some low fat protein. Have started using soya milk which is high in protein, but not that low in fat - I am finding it hard to get the balance right

Not too sure about that programme. I quite enjoyed watching it, but couldn't help noticing little things that didn't 'add up'. From what I gathered they were trying to prove that low fat diets aren't good for you, although the way they went about it only showed that eating nothing but processed meals isn't good for you - which is something we know already!

I was quite interested when she spoke to that woman who drank 2lt of diet coke a day as I also drink silly ammounts of the stuff. I was hoping that they were going to throw out some shocking facts that would help me to cut down my intake, but instead they advised the girl that she shouldn't drink more than 14 cans a day (What the hell?) That's about 4.6lt! I actually rewinded the clip twice to check that I had heard them correctly!
Apparently my 2-3lt intake is 'normal' - yay, lol!

The wallpaper and duck feathers thing was quite interesting though - and quite scary to think about! I do have a habit of buying ready meals if it is only me eating as it seems silly to spend so much time cooking just one meal. I have thought that I should make the effort, but after watching that I am definitely more inclined to do so! I knew I was eating rubbish already, but seeing little experiments like that really helps to bring the message home!
  • Can I join please will weigh myself later today and let you know my starting weight. Have did every diet known to man but decieded to try my own diy plan healthy home cooking / calorie counted and increased excercise.

    Thanks

Thanks Eric - I have already been looking at what you have written as a guide to weightloss with interest. I will see how I can modify it for a vegetarian diet.

Funny enough Eric I recorded this last week and watched it yesterday,
I thought it was funny about what they found out about diet drinks, but if you go from a healthy diet to only eating low fat pre packed ready meals and snacks you will put on 4LB ?? really?? but you were eating like a horse you admitted yourself that you ate 4 packets of snack a jacks and a whole carton of ice cream
I think truthfully they didn't really help the confusing information that is out there. I mean she had 2 of those low fat Pizza's when 1 and a side salad would have been better but she wasn't allowed salad ?? why ??

Bit of a waste of an experiment if you ask me

Fred - I don't know if I should join the challenge or not i'm not sure how much more weight I am wanting to loose at present :o So can I just carry on as I am at the moment Thank you :A

Puddings - Took a tape measure to work today and measured the steps (they all thought I was a little loony!!) and the works steps are 10'6" so that should mean the steps I do during the day can count towards my target :D How are you wanting to count this challenge? are we going to post our total daily or ????
I'm really excited about this but I still think you are gonna beat me :rotfl:
Also on a side note do you still have any calender mouse mats left? as I would find one really useful at work :D

Hello to the newbie's welcome to our lovely thread

Sary - hope all is going well with the cupcakes ??

Victory - thinking of you x

it was a bit of ligh hearted program but the principle is sound, processed food is absorbed very quickly into the blood stream and diet low fat food is normally high in carbs, so you get a fast sugar hit, insulin spike, carb cravings, so you over eat

exactly the opposite of what you want when you are trying to loose weight

just look at how many long term members there are of companies like these who are in a perpetual yoyo cycle and thus keep paying there subs

    there not stupid these coperations

i would be interested in what you come up with, i know quite a few veggies who are always after ideas
  • I am on a diy diet, so please put me down for the 5 lb challenge. Will try hard. I think trying to loose 10 dress sizes is far too much and I should try just to keep loosing untiil I reach 7 st 10, I am now 12 and 1/2 stones.
