haha debsboss you're such a hoot! sounds just like the sort of thing that one of the voices in my head might say ;-)

today we're taking the car to a pub about 4 miles away, walking the dog back home from there, then walking back to the pub without the dog, and having tea, then driving home.
we picked this place because they have an "all you can eat" salad bar :-)

Mum and I went for the debenhams shopper once and because of her age they put her in long skirts and frumpy tops, she hated it all and yes she was very elderly but she dressed her way not the way the shopper saw her, then we went downstairs for a free make over and the woman just caked this foundation on my mum so much so you could see the lines where it was not on and the pasting on her face:rotfl:she couldn't wait to get home and wash it all off, I guess the lady was trying to plaster over the wrinkles:rotfl:

It's nice that you're able to laugh at the good times. Hopefully things will get better for you.

Beanie - we don't have a JL near here - nearest one is London I think. But no worries - I had a brouse somewhere else today and have seen a number of things I love & am now confident of finding something right for me. I just didn't feel well enough today to try anything on, so hopefully tomorrow or Friday.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Ho hum another piddley 1lb loss this week. I have an excuse though! Not only is it my time of the month (TMI :rotfl:) but I've had a stinking cold and I've generally been feeling sorry for myself so whilst I havent been really bad this week I havent really followed my diet either. I'm over the worst of it (I hope) so next week should show a vast improvement. Fingers crossed I feel a bit more motivated.

Piddley but heading in the right direction:D it is hard when you feel unwell, I tend to go for soups, just to eat something, it always tastes horrible but it is something to eat.

It's funny you mention scientific research - I looked into all of this after you first starting mentioning low-carb diets, the medical literature (Peer-reviewed rather than popularist stuff) seems to say that low-carb diets are of no particular benefit and what's actually happening is that people who follow low-carb diets lose weight if they are also counting calories and it's the counting of calories that does it (in the short term, the literature also says that in the end most people crack and go back to their own ways).

If it seems to work for you great - but as a way to end obesity? The evidence simply isn't there (or if it is, it's not being published in any medical journals I have access to).

I am very much in agreement with you. You don't need scientific research to tell us what has gone wrong with alot of people who are obese/fat. We've created a world where fat food is so easy to get and make...combined with the bodys natural instinct to want certain foods for energy and survival. Mix the two and boom! Carbs play a part, but i don't think its as black and white as what eric makes out.
