It's great to have a challenge for yourself and a bet to compete against. A great target. Good for you.
Wow! That's some task- how do you manage it? Did you walk a lot at your heaviest or is it a recent thing? I think my legs would fall off!
my heaviest, last summer, when i was something higher than 30stone :o, i couldnt walk a few hundred yards without getting back ache and having to stop for a lean on something, so the answer is no i didnt used to walk a lot at all!

Today we took the dog for about 90% of the way round, then put him in the car (with plenty of drinking water i might add) while we went into a cafe for lunch (warm chicken bacon salad with a poached egg on top yummy yummy yummy!). Then after lunch we climbed to the top of clitheroe castle and finally walked the last mile without the dog, . Feet aren't half aching now though, i dont think they like having my 25 stone bearing down on them all that much!

I didn't imagine you were about as heavy as I am - I think you've just smashed my own misconceptions of what I can't do, and what I could do if I really tried!

I'd love to be able to go for long walks with the OH - he did the coast to coast years back and wants to do it again with me and I'd love to get up Snowdon one day, but I've just thought 'when I weigh less' and done nothing up until now..

I've just worked out a route to a nature reserve and back that I'll walk with the LOs tomorrow, It's about only 3 miles altogether and it'll be slow going with the girls but it's a start :)

I'm going put all the biscuits, sweets and crisps on top of the high cupboards in the kitchen - if I can't reach them easily I'm less likely to go snacking!
Don't do that. Get rid of them. Take them down to your local scout hut, or anywhere. Bin them, even! You have no need of them.

A couple of weeks ago we were looking after DH's son's family dog while they went on a week's ski-ing in the French Alps. His wife handed me a bunch of roses and a box of Quality Street as a thank you. DH said it was rude to refuse. I'll accept flowers any day and for any excuse, for not chocolates - I thought they knew that. Anyway, those chocolates have stayed in the car for about 3 weeks now. I've asked him to get rid of them when he goes to the hospital for his pre-assessment on Wednesday.

IMHO it's a question of re-programming yourself, re-brainwashing if you like. Once you've done that it becomes easy. Any time I ever go to a church function the biscuits are passed round and I always just pass them by. I get some funny looks, but who cares about that?

Before I found wisdom, I became old.
  • I do walk with my son and our dog. My son is 26 BTW. Also, when I walk up the stairs, I turn go down and go back up, but only in the morning. My legs won't do anymore than that. I get off the bus one stop early and at work, do one extra turn round the exhibit after lunch. I am using soup before my supper meals as well.
