Sorry to those that have gained weight and not doing too well. One piece of advice is, never beat yourself up about any mistakes you do. I know that's easier said than done, but when you stress about it, you usually end up eating more, and before you know it, that tiny spoonful of ice cream or little piece of chocolate has turned into a bucket load of icecream or 500g of chocolate (just an example). I found that when I wasn't in the right frame of mind (this was last year), my one spoonful of bad food, ended up being a whole meal because I used to think to myself 'well I've started so I might aswell finish' and I used to feel guilty throughout and just stressing so I ate more than I needed. Just get yourself back up, and start over, make it a new start. But don't sort of make every mistake a new start, if you get what I mean, because that's more likely to cause you to think 'if I mess up again i can just make a new start no problem' and before you know it, your target date is fast approaching, your target date has come, and bam you're back to overeating again and setting a new target date. So make mistakes, but also put that down to experience, and include that in your plan. As in if you were to make a new start for every single bad thing you did, then you'd never get anywhere, so just get through that mistake and the next day continue with your life changing plan.

    And that's my 2 pence worth. :)

Please put me down for a 2lbs loss this week Fred.

Vic, words cant express how much I feel for you, no matter how they treat you in life losing someone as important as your mother is devastating.
Vix, go get your iron tested, both feeling tired / achey all the time and a metallic taste in your mouth are classic signs of iron deficiency.
Puds, was the referral to the food disorders clinic done through your doctors? My brother is massively obese and I've known for years that there's some psychological reasons behind it (but not what) however whenever he has asked at the doctor if they could refer him to some kind of therapist they just tell him to suck it up and eat less/do more.

Victory - it seems wrong to congratulate you on what would normally be a fantastic acheivement - what a terrible time you must be going through - i hope your family are helping with any orgaising that needs doing and not just leaving it all to you. (hugs)

safesound - doctor referred to dietician who in turn referred to the eating disorder place. I got a phone call this afternoon... apparently i now have a case manager!!! i don't think i have ever been a "case" before lol, does that mean that theres a brown file with my name on it somewhere! - anyway i mentioned the "urgent" thing and the lady on the phone told me not to worry (was i worrying?) about it and that it was probably only because ofthe very high bmi
  • Victory, take every bit of help you can, from those closest to you, and your GP etc:grouphug:.

Puddings - well done for following through on the appointment. I really hpe it helps you nails those lurking demons. You are a lovely bloke and a great attititude to life and it would be wonderful to see you get on top of the eating issue.

    sts for me please fred
I went clothes shopping today (have to be desparate to do that,,as it is not somehting I enjoy).
Decided to just pick up a few things and try them on at home. I had to make myself pick up the size 14, as i was convinced the size 16's that are now too loose were a generous cut and that Next clothes sizing would find me out. But no, they fit:D.
I have also booked myself in with a debenhams pesonal shopper to find a capsule wardrobe, including something for bails wedding in two weeks, (for those that remember her):happylove. I wasnt to buy a small quantity of decent clothes rather than lost of cheap stuff.

    Beanie - 3rd weeks loss in a row:T
Mazza hope you are doing ok while you lurk.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

hehe at least you dont have a 'head case' manager! good luck with the therapy Puds, well done for doing the right thing for your health (mental and physical) - your attitude to weight loss is an inspiring one.

    Margaret Claire~ouch to the shingles.

    Pudds~Dont worry about the urgent.
The important thing is that you will get to explore some of your issues in a controlled & hopefully helpful & supportive way.
As a wee aside I spoke to someone years ago who i attribute with helping me see things differently.
OK I am still very lacking in confidence as people have been very cruel over the years about my wobbly walking buy hey ho.
Anyway what Im trying to say is I hope that it is a really positive & helpful experience & remember we are all behind you x

I've been a bit off the radar recently and havent even dared go near the scales. Im trying to work out what to do for the best. I dont eat that badly, or at least I dont think I do and I've been adding in exercise where I can but things just dont seem to be working. Do you guys think it would be useful for me to sign up to WW or something similar? Im not if it'll be any use, or if it'll be a wake up call and I'll realise I'm not eating as well as I think I am?

    Interested to know your thoughts!

If you feel in the need for some structure to eating, then something like WW could offer you an eating plan, combined with the support of a group, as well as online tools available. There's no harm in trying.
I'm not losing weight at all at the moment.

I've had shingles for the past week or so - getting better now, but I've had a line of itchy spots going right round under my right armpit, and a lot of pain.

I've been taking so many pain-killers which cause constipation and I think there has been fluid retention in the affected areas. Also, I can't go to the pool, can't go anywhere that there are young children who might not yet have had chicken-pox - it's the same virus.

Oh poor you! Shingles are a really nasty virus, and you can get them even after you've had chicken pox (most commonly in adults), and the effects can last for weeks. Take good care of yourself, and don't expect to be 100% for a little while yet. Patience will have you back to normal sooner rather than later.

Yesterday I had an assessment at a food disorders clinic, lots of pokey questions about life, food, family, past, health, relationships, stresses etc etc and in the end she told me that i was a compulsive overeater(not any big surprise there really) and that i might benefit from some one to one therapy (thats ok too)
Anyway, it was all going well until I noticed that she had written URGENT on the bottom of her referral sheet, and thats when the paranoia set in !!

I see it as a great thing that they are offering you extra support. You're doing so much on your own to battle the weight, that having some extra support to deal with any other issues you have with food can only be a good thing.
Oh, and you were right, you did see a loss today, even with that fry up.;)

Victory - Thinking of you at such a dreadful time. Going to the Drs. is a good idea. Get all the help you can.

BB - Congrats on the size 14's. I gazed longingly at my size 14 jeans in the wardrobe yesterday when I was sorting it out. I managed to squeeze into 1 pair, but the overhang was a bit too much like an awning than a muffin top!:o I think the world has seen enough hideous sights, without me adding to them, so I'll have to be patient and get that other stone of weight off until I'm in them. I'd love to hear what you decide to get for the new capsule wardrobe. Are you going to have an image change while you're at it?

    Well done all you losers!

I totally forgot what day of the week it was today, so didn't weigh myself 1st thing. Fred, I'll declare a STS for this week, and hope to do the Englanders proud next week instead.

I've been very busy doing lots of planning and designing stuff, so I apologise if I go a bit quiet at times, but I'm still working my regular trips to the gym into the week.
I did a leg workout today, and was really pleased to be now lifting 60kg on the leg raiser, and doing squats with 30kg, and my aductor/abductors are now up to 105kg.
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home
