Thanks for the advice, Beanie.
I was on Atkins, although I'm no longer following it 'to the letter' so I guess you'd just call it 'low carb'. I'm only having around 30g of carbs a day, so it is very low.
I don't really want to come out of ketosis as it takes so long to get back into it, but I definitely will do, as the risks seem to be too great to ignore.
note i am not a doctor / medical expert, and i do not drink as it is empty calories so i would rather get my cals from something i enjoy. Most wine / beer is high carb (spirits appear to be low to zero carb)

there appears to be some risk seams but a lot depends on how heavily you are in ketosis and how much you drink. The highest risk seams to be for those who are a VLCD low carb diet.
the advice seams to be carb up during the day if you want to go on a session to take yourself out of ketosis
as for ketosis itself this is something I question about atkins, from reading (most people go into ketosis at night naturally regardless) once your glycogen stores are empty your body switches over to ketosis and it can turn it on and off pretty quickly. I carb up a few hours before training and go back into ketosis 4-6 hours later (light acetone breath). I suspect what atkins maybe referring to is the brain switching to ketones as a fuel.
I have found that 100g (and there's a few articles on 100g being the amount of carbs needed to stay in ketosis) works perfectly for me and keeps my body burning fat most of the time but also allows me to carb up for heavy resistance training session and then switch back pretty quickly0 -
hehe I was thinking ur preggers too Vix, but iron deficiency is prob more likely if it's unlikely that ur preg, if you know what i mean!
Good excuse to have a steak!
I've totally let myself down, really annoyed, but been so so stressed over work the last 2 weeks have been a blur of overeating, no exercise, no SW, just blind panic and comfort eating. no surprise I have put all the weight I lost in Jan back on.
Fred - I'm feeling dreadful and really annoyed with myself, please can you zero me on the chart and my start weight will be 11st once again. Starting from scratch yet again
how disappointing i have let myself down once again.Betty B: The Eternal Procrastinator....

Please don't be so hard on yourselfEveryone slips up sometimes but not everyone can pick themselves up, dust themselves down and start again - which clearly, you are doing!
I doubt if anyone on this board will think you are a disappointment, you're human and you were coping with stresses in the only way you know how to. All you can do is learn from it and try to work out different ways of dealing with work stress next time.
Put it all behind you, take it one day at a time and you'll easily re-lose anything you've put on over the last couple of weeks

Betty - I'm the same - had a really stressful week resulting in emergency trip to vet with me baby boy. He impaled himself on something and caused quite an injury. Needless to say I'm suffering from extreme stress and worry, we've had sleepless nights and to top it all off its my TOTM!!
Fred Please increase my weight by 2lbs:eek:
Betty, you and I are in the same boat - I'm just picking myself up and starting again like you. We still have another 11 months to xmas!!!!:rotfl:

I don't drink very often so it's going to be a nice treat to be able to eat a few more carbs than usual when I do. It's interesting to hear that people can stay in ketosis when eating 100g of carbs a day, that seems like a lot. I am planning to gradually start upping my carb intake next week so it's nice to hear that I can probably eat a lot more than I currently do.0 -

oh no your poor baby i hope he is ok!
I am having mega career stress - hating my job at the mo and really want to do something new but it's so hard startign again with no relevant experience, plus I need money right now so studying isn't really an option.
you are right Romy, there's loads of time for us to get back on the wagon! I am going to try to control my eating in the meantime tho, and not make matters worse.Betty B: The Eternal Procrastinator....

I have just had a nice lunch of quorn risotto. I made it with 2 oz basmati rice, one onion, garlic clove, peas, tbsp corn oil and 3oz quorn pieces and a knorr vegetable stock pot
What surprised me was the amount it made, and normally I would have only eaten half of it - but working out the calories it was fine to have all of it. Maybe this is where I have gone wrong in the past - thinking I have eaten plenty but getting hungry sooner than later and making wrong choices.
For tea there is a salad which I have prepared and is in the fridge, and hopefully that will be enough for the day - takes me to 1194 calories for the dayNot Rachmaninov

Yes, tomorrow IS day 1!!
I have written a food and exercise plan and worked out that I can still reach target by June/July, which is my main goal (slimmer for summer!!)
I am going to spend the evening tidying the house so I am relaxed tomorrow, and popping to MrT to spend my clubcard vouchers on fruit and veg and other goodies (such as lean steak for Monday's valentine's day meal!! - if it'll freeze ok till then???)
I am determined to be the strongest I can be at 25 - i dont want to be the same size (or bigger) and stuck in the same frame of mind in 20 years time, I need to work on my inner strength and willpower and address the boredom / comfort eating.Betty B: The Eternal Procrastinator....
