Hey betty, you know if i can do it, you sooooooooooooooo can!! Its such a shame we don't live closer. I suppose you just need to find a way and method that works for you. Do you think the plan you are on is the best way to achieve your goal?

I think it will work for me IF i stick to it - in fact i know it works cos both the times I have stuck to the plan for 2 weeks I have lost weight successfully, but then for some reason I find myself going off plan and getting lazy. sometimes I feel like maybe i am scared to actually lose significant amounts of weight cos my layer of flab is like my protection, you know.... but I need to realise that I can be strong this year and I can become who i want to be and still be me, if that makes any sense!!

today I am back to my original start weight of 11st. Damn. Fred please can you just reset me back to zero on the chart and give me 5lb to lose for the 5lb challenge (otherwise it'll be totally unachievebale - or is that cheating???) I am literally starting again. Same weight. Same size. More motivation!

Planned my SW day today - cutting right down on syns and treats and just focussing on getting my core meal plans perfect and varied enough that I dont get bored.

Please put me down for a 1lb loss this week, a bit disappointing as I have been keeping to my 1200 calories but at least in the right direction

However, my urticaria rash is back. I took steroids last week Monday to Friday which cleared them, but now it's back to the Doctors on Friday for blood tests. Only a slight rash yesterday but back with a vengence today - grrr

  • Morning :)

My scales are useless, they're even struggling to weigh my OH properly and he's well within their limit, so I'm not sure if they've been weighing me properly at all! I think I've lost 4lb it's either 4lb or 3st 2lb, or 1st 5lb - I need new scales! Here I come Ebay!

  • Hello,

Yesterday was my worst day so far since I began!! Had an apricot pastry and around 3 large scoops of choc ice cream, the super fatty kind  And no exercise either!:eek:

I'm going to get back into the 30 Day Shred again, how can i not manage to fit in 20mins of exercise a day? This is ridiculous. Plus we're going to Frankie and Benny's for our Valentine's meal on Mon which will be heaving with calories no matter what i order. I've asked for definitely no chocolate for Valentines, on pain of death!!

    Food Diary for yesterday:
Breakfast - 3 pumpkin seed ryvitas with pure olive spread, 1 light cheese triange and 1 light babybel. Coffee, fat free probiotic yog, tropical juice.
Lunch - Seared tuna and mixed salad. Apricot pastry > nooooooooo
Dinner - mince and pasta shells with kidney and green beans (fairly large portion!), chocolate ice cream > nooooooooooooo again
Snacks - tea, options hot choc, 2 clementines

Grrr, my food diaries from Jan looked so much more virtuous. Today has so far been better, had cottage cheese on a slice of wholegrain toast for brekkie and will be having WW soup and oatcakes for lunch. Still haven't started those lunchtime jogs, partly because it's still really cold, and also because I seem to be terrible at running! I'm fine doing everything else, but running kills my knees and ankles. Maybe I can rethink it to a few push-ups and squats, though I reckon I'll feel like a right lemon doing them in the field near the school.

However, strictly speaking, any diet with less than 100 g/day of carbohydrate will cause ketosis to develop to some degree (more ketones will be generated as carbs are lowered). I’d note that many ketogenic dieters use Ketostix to track ketosis, small sticks that measure urinary ketone levels. These are misleading for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that while ketosis (as defined by blood concentrations of ketones) may develop, urinary ketones don’t always show up, especially as carbs are raised to nearer the 100 g/day high end.

Ahh, so that's where I got my distorted view on ketosis! I've been using DS's Ketostix to judge if I'm in ketosis or not. It appeared that I fell out of ketosis really easily and it always took around 3 days to get back there. I did wonder how effective they were as there were quite a few days that I would eat really well, yet I never seemed to get results on the sticks.

ok my 1st week with you all, i have been doing my wii fit plus and just got my fitness coach yesterday, did my initial setup followed by 15 mins this morning :) have been doing a food diary just to keep an eye on what i shovel in :( not good yesterday was at my nephews 3rd birthday party so a few sausages and sausage rolls and crisps got thru! :) lol back on the straight and narrow today

    2lb loss this week

Congratulations, it sounds like you've made a great start.

Well I am joining the STS club this week. I've lost a grand total of 1lb in two weeks, which is quite disappointing as I don't think I've done that badly. I'm hoping that this will spur me on to try harder next week, although I'm not feeling too positive at the moment. :(

I'm not losing weight at all at the moment.

I've had shingles for the past week or so - getting better now, but I've had a line of itchy spots going right round under my right armpit, and a lot of pain.

I've been taking so many pain-killers which cause constipation and I think there has been fluid retention in the affected areas. Also, I can't go to the pool, can't go anywhere that there are young children who might not yet have had chicken-pox - it's the same virus.

sgtg: do you have your scales on a flat hard surface?

if they are digital then if you move them, even a couple of inches, then you may need to reset the display to zero again before you stand on (i have to do that with mine)
if they are mechanical scales and you get different readings then it may just be a case of needing a few drops of oil on the moving parts

margaretclare: sorry to hear about your shingles - very painful!

funnelly - welcome back :-) with regards to ww classes, well it works for some but not others so all i can say is give it a try for a few weeks

Yesterday I had an assessment at a food disorders clinic, lots of pokey questions about life, food, family, past, health, relationships, stresses etc etc and in the end she told me that i was a compulsive overeater(not any big surprise there really) and that i might benefit from some one to one therapy (thats ok too)
Anyway, it was all going well until I noticed that she had written URGENT on the bottom of her referral sheet, and thats when the paranoia set in !!
