Have to smile, Matryoshka. 'I have 3 kids and can't exercise'. Well, when I had 2 toddlers I was the slimmest I've ever been. Exercise? I had exercise and to spare, running around after littlies all the time, walking to the village with them in a push-chair. 'My husband works so I can't exercise'. At that time, my husband was away from home Sunday night to Friday evening, with the RAF. And 'can't wake up early' - with 3 kids? I was never allowed to sleep late with 2 littlies!!
Last evening we went to an interesting seminar in a local church hall. www.fatlossbootcampessex.co.uk The presenter aimed to blow several 'big fat weight loss myths'. Most of what she said was not new to me, although one or two things were. I knew the much-advertised breakfast cereals were no good, but I didn't know that Denmark had refused to allow the addition of supplements to Kellogg's cereals on the grounds that the supplements can damage children's liver and kidneys and those of pregnant women and their fetuses.
She advocated 'clean eating' - well, I knew about that and we do try to do this. She also said drink a minimum of 3 litres of water a day - well, I know about the benefits of water and the need, but 3 litres!!! No, I couldn't do that. Also no oats, no milk, no cheese? My ancestors in the Yorkshire Dales lived on these items and they led very hard and active lives. They ate oatcake instead of bread - oatcake is a sort of thick porridge spread out to dry and eaten with home-made butter and local cheese.
It's another interesting site, nevertheless.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

no grains, hmm quite a few people are intolerant of grains and they depending on the type can spike your insulin but oats are normally good and the most tolerated of grain (since there one of the oldest we have been eating, along with spelt)
no dairy?? i guess this comes from the milk is for baby cows bullpat, most of us have evolved to digest milk, we actually make an enzyme specifically for it, you know if you dont make it, you get the squits.. Milk is actually a key reason why western Europeans advanced faster than most other races, its a year long source of fat and protein0 -

i suppose cows are only food for tigers and nuts are only food for monkeys by that logic :rotfl:
jesss this really is the worst kind of carp
Milk didn’t last 7 – 10 days then did it? In fact, it was already ‘on it’s way out’ by the same evening. So what do you think the supermarkets have done to make it last longer…?
errr its witchcraft or basic science, kill 99.9% the bacteria and then keep it refrigerated so what's left cant multiply very fast ....
quack quack quack
some of the other stuff is sound thouthe bicarbonate oxygenating the blood sounds very dodgy

Thanks for this, Eric. Exactly what we thought. I was surprised that DH managed to sit through it. He was busy scribbling comments on the back of the programme e.g. 'unproven', 'unsubstantiated', 'where's your proof' etc, but he didn't get a chance to ask questions at the end - the man from the church came in and said would people please move their cars so the people from another meeting in another part of the building could get out. She started late and did run on a bit, so although she'd promised to take questions at the end, she didn't get a chance to.
BTW we don't get our milk from supermarkets - it arrives in a bottle on the doorstep just as it has done for decades, and we've recently gone back to using whole milk rather than the skimmed variety, because it tastes better. And as I said, generations of my ancestors lived on oats and dairy produce, and lived physically very hard lives.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

My weight loss seems to be re-started after being stalled for ages - maybe that's since we went back to whole milk and also whole milk yoghurt?
Some of the things she said made sense. For example, reading the labels on supermarket items. The longer the list of ingredients and the unpronounceable chemicals included, the more reason not to buy it! She held up a Tesco lemon sponge roll and some WW mini cup cakes. The list of ingredients was incredible. I muttered to DH that if he wanted a lemon sponge I'd make him one and it would contain flour, butter, sugar, an egg, lemon and nothing else.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.
