Lose Weight 32

I think older people look better with more weight...personally. Anyone in their 60's its 14 minimum for me.
If I can get to size 14 I'll be happy, although it will mean costing a fortune on an entire new wardrobe of clothes!
Seriously, if older people are, rather than look, better with more weight, why is it that every time I go to the local GP practice I get a mention about 'losing weight'? DH has just been this morning and he was weighed while there, although he knows it won't be accurate fully-dressed and with trainers on which are quite heavy.
As you get older there is a risk of becoming diabetic, and this is one of the things I've been trying to avoid. And how do you avoid it? Weight loss and exercise. We've been on support weekends organised by Diabetes UK and this point was stressed very strongly. I know several women in their 70s who've become diabetic, and quite honestly it is something I can do without. There's also the strain on the joints, the heart, the blood-pressure etc.
It took me ages to get the hang of this weight-loss game. I've tried different things. I've gained a lot of useful information from a variety of sources and one of my big thank-yous has to go to Eric Pisch. I even read Eric's comment on a Mail Online article last week - didn't know you lived in Dartford, Eric! That takes me back to the early days of my first marriage.
Well, if all stays as it is by weigh-in day tomorrow, I hope to be reporting some really good results. Because this morning I recorded 71.2 kg. That's - 1 kg from last Tuesday. But will see what it is tomorrow.
I don't agree that older people look better with more weight. In our little town centre yesterday, older guys with their bellies preceding them. Older women with rolls of fat around the middle. They'd look, and move, a darned sight better if they shed some of it.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

I had a baby in september but i was overweight before i got pregnant. I lost all the baby weight and i have on and off been trying to lose some more weight. I lost 4lb and then put 2lb on, then lost 2lb then put it back on, then i lost 5lb and some how even through i have being eating less and have cut out crisps, chocolate i have put weight on. I am going to try the dunkan diet, i need something to kick start this weight loss. Is anyone else doing the dunkan diet.
Do not bother too much about this or that 'diet'. What you are looking for is a complete change of lifestyle. Do not get disheartened if it doesn't happen as quickly as you hope for. Drink a lot of water each day - 1-2 litres minimum. Eat proper food and leave out all the snacks and junk food. You don't need them.
I've found a lot of help on this site: https://www.weightlossresources.co.uk Also Eric Pisch, on this site, tells it as it is and really knows what he's talking about. Eat more natural foods and less of the processed stuff.

Thankyou Eric and Margartclare. I will have a look at that site. I do get disheartened when i put weight back on. I really want to lose weight and lost as much as i can for my holiday. It affects my confidence. Also i keep weighting myself nearly every day which i need to stop. I know that i am going to struggle with the water as i don't like water, but i need to drink it.Married 09/09/090

I dont think that's quite what vix meant - I think she means that older people look better with a little more weight, rather than being skinny.
If older people are very skinny they tend to look even older, wrinklier and gaunt/sick. A little weight (not overweight) can help you look younger and healthier.
It's a superficial theory though.
And obviously being overwieght with rolls round the middle is no good for people at any age!
Hoping to get out for a run today - the sun is out stillbut my knee is aching a bit. Though I reckon it aches more the more I sit at my desk! so exercise might help!

We have a filter jug which we keep in the fridge - water straight from the tap tastes yuck. We add a little bit of Robinson's no added sugar, I don't think I could drink tap-water either!!
I weigh daily, but the only accurate way of recording your weight is first thing in the morning, naked, after going to the loo and before eating or drinking anything. I've also taken to weighing just before bed, and I find I weigh around 1 kg more, a couple of pounds more in the evening.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

Well, I have a picture of me taken on 12th July 2009 at a church picnic in the park. And you can see every pound, where it shows! I'm not even 5 ft tall and just cannot carry it.
I don't think I'll ever become skinny or gaunt. Not much chance at all.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

drinking fluid is good as it ensures you are not thirsty (being thirsty can feel the same as being hungry) and flushes out toxins
i keep posting this little video which may help it shows in a semi light hearted way why its sugar that is making us fat not fat
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNYlIcXynwE
and do not avoid fat, fat does not make you fat or even clog your arteries, its essential for healthy cells and to avoid depression0 -
25 min run today completed with no stops :j I'm still shocked that 6 weeks ago I could only just run for 90 sec's and then have to stop and catch my breath.
Fred - can you add another 2.91 miles to my total please.
Betty - hope you manage to get out and run today. Are you stretching before your run? as that could partly be why you are getting pains? I do a 5 min walk then stretch then start the podcast as I used to get terrible calf cramps otherwise.
Welcome Moneysaver12you will find lots of help and support here I know I have :T
