    I have Qs!
    1. What is insanity?
    2. What is the length of Britain? Im guessing it would be on an exercise bike over a month? I quite like the idea of this challenge. Ive never done a challenge before...

Im down to 12 stone and 3lbs. I wonder if I can shift it to under 11 by easter :D I havent broken the 12 stone mark in over 4.5 years :o I have laryngitis so am not exercising until its cleared (I feel like poo) but Ill be back to my swimming next week (and hopefully clocking up some miles on the bike)

Dinah - are they trying to get you a greater range of movement in your knee? 30 degrees sounds a little restrictive to me ( my Mum had both of hers done but 2nd not as good as 1st) but I know they did offer to knock her out and manipulate to see if it makes a difference. You could always start your own mini challenge to climb snowdon and set yourself goals ?

It wasn't a replacement, I had chondromalacia patala (can't spell it though!) with a chondral lesion - basically there is no longer any fluid cushioning the joint between the fluid and knee. Gradually the strength is coming back, it's just very slowly.
    Hi Vix
I do still read everyday but I don't have much to say as I am not actively trying to lose weight any more and I am so committed to my new way of eating, it is hard to offer advice or opinions on a more normal diet with procressed food and sugar in.
I am at the very top end of my bmi and am just monitoring my weight and seeing avery very slow downward trend which is good;another half stone off would be great but it may take the rest of the year.

I've been doing the raw vegan diet for a month now. Can't believe it myself as I love meat (I'd already given up my beloved cheese 7 months ago). But my health continues to limit my life and when I read up on this diet, something just clicked inside me and I just knew this was the right thing to do. Don't worry, I still refuse to wear socks with my sandles..:rotfl:
I'm certainly eating very healthily and don't feel deprived. Lots of yummy avocado's, hummous & dates in the mix:D

I'm also busy de cluttering and have got rid of half of what I own in the last 2 months, so that has taken up more of my time.

Hi BB. I'm glad you're enjoying your new diet. One of my best friends is vegan, but she's really struggled to get the nutritional balance right. If you haven't already I'd have a check up with a nutritionist that the balance of what you're eating is good for you. Due to a lack of protein she's suffered from really dry skin and hair thinning (she's only 20 so it's not an ageing thing), and she has really, really struggled to get her calcium requirements (1200-1500mg a day for women, depending on age). Calcium is one of the most important and underrated vitamins for women, getting your daily dose cuts your risk of developing osteoperosis by over 80%. The vitamins in some veggies are also fat soluble, so if you don't cook them with a bit of butter you won't get their full nutritional value. This isn't a criticism of a vegan diet but a friendly flag to make sure you're not missing out on important nutrients.

0.4lbs lost this week here, bringing me to 5.6lbs lost. It's in the right direction, if a lot smaller than I'd like considering I have to be in a bikini in 2 weeks!

Please can I join the 5lb a month challenge for April? Going to be a bit of a challenge with a week away, but it's followed by a week off work where I can make sure I eat healthily so I should be able to regain any lost ground!

I'll join in the men vs women too please, team women for me. Starting at 144.4lbs.

Is there an April exercise challenge?

I usually shy away from the treadmill in the gym but decided to give it a go today. Jogged 5k, at a steady level 7 though, and did it in almost 44mins. Will run faster next time :rotfl:

I hope to be there soon :D is there no stopping you ? you seem to be a 1 woman exercise machine (I'm so jealous :o) :rotfl:

OUCH!!!! that just sounds painful. I think that is what my sister is being seen for at the moment. She had to have her cartlidge removed due to a Motorbike accident many years ago :( But she is having lots of pain in there now so had an MRI scan on monday and see a consultant next week. Knee's are not nice things really especially when you carry a little extra weight :o Mine have been far less painful since I have lost a couple of pounds! I hope with gentle exercise your's manage to settle for you

Well I have managed week 4 run 1 today and have surpassed above and beyond what I have ever done before  All I can say is I'm glad the race for life is in July as it gives me plenty of time to build up. Still getting the cramping in my calves though :(

Betty - where are you hiding ? you have been quiet for a few days?
    Restarting C25K in 2014 - Week 8 - 1/3 completed

Need to loose 25lb / 3lb lost so far :(

Thanks dinah, I appreciate your concern, but I'm one of life's naturally very sensible people and have done extensive research and am taking advice from one of the leading raw vegan teachers in the country. I also take a daily multivitmin while I am learning the ropes in case I miss anything.
I am getting loads of calcium from calcium enriched rice milk and when you eat a Raw vegan diet you get sufficient protein from many raw vegetables, as well as nuts of course. And I speak as someone who always thrived on a higher protein and lower carb diet previously.
I have never eaten as well as I do now. But if you don't do it properly, it is entirely possible to have a poor vegan diet as a poor standard English diet.

The excellent quality of my bowels compared to when I ate meat is a fantastic indication that I am eating far closer to how our bodies were designed. Since giving up all dairy, I have also stopped needing to get up once or twice in the night to go to the loo for a wee.

There is a fab raw vegan (Raw vegan is more than just vegan as you don't cook any food) websites out there on line, so perhaps your friend could do a bit of reseach on line and sign up to a few forums and get advice? Avocado is very good for skin - she should add more of those to her diet. I drink a pint of juiced spinach/celery/apple, then blended with an avocado every day: creamy and totally lush. I'm eating seaweed, sprouted seeds and corgette or beetroot 'spaghetti' with cheese free pesto, or 'cheese' sauces made from ground nuts. I'm eating 15 a day veg not just my 5 a day. Live breads made from sprouted seeds and dehydrated that taste divine. The breadth of food is amazing anmd so tasty.
My friend who was doing WW and has switched to Raw has seen her skin has gone from dry on ww to peachy smooth with previously 'banned coz of high points' avocados and nuts.
The raw vegans I know feel better than they have for years and have oodles of energy.
Believe me, I am have been very very poorly and am doing this to get better. So far I can only be encouraged. Everyone I meet who hasn't seen me for awhile (and doesn't know I am doing this) tells me how 'much better' I am looking. My parents are urging me to stay on the 'diet' as they haven't seen me this well in 20 yrs.
Also of course, I did say 80% raw vegan - I do allow myself some fish occasionally if I fancy it. I'm not a rigid self punisher kinda gal: if I really fancy fish, I listen to my body. I'm happy.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Sorry lolly it's taken me over an hour and a half to upload the charts and get the post on here - I've not had broadband for over a month now (grrrrrr at Pipex) so am using a dial up dongle so you missed the charts.

I'll add it onto the next charts ready.

Aww, how annoying! I had a dongle last year to get me through a change in broadband providers, they are so frustrating aren't they! That's fine about the chart, I wan't too happy about posting the gain anyway, lol.

Yes, it would be a monthly challenge on an exercise bike (although it could also be done on a 'proper' bike, it would just be more awkward to figure out distances).
I quite like the thought of this one as well as I've been slacking on my bike lately so need some motivation to get back into it.

Thanks for that, Princess Jelly. So, with 30 days in April that would be 28.23 miles a day, or 20.1 miles depending on the route.

Does that sound do-able? I have no idea how far I go on my bike, I just check time and cals.
