I went swimming today. I managed 20 lengths of breast stroke. I was in the pool for 45 mins. I cant believe how unfit I was compared to some of the older people there. They obviously go regularly. So, 20 lengths is my benchmark. By the end of the month it would be good to get to 30. When I got out of the pool by bum was aching! At least I know its doing something. Got Triple Challenge class tomorrow again and Im dreading it
Im watching my calories very roughly. So, had a bowl of cereal this morning with slimmed milk (no more than 150 cal), pitta bread (165 cal) with a tub of prawns in rose marie sauce (the reduced fat version about 300 cal) with some salad and washed down with apple juice. I was STILL hungry so had some snack a jack curls (they are SO delish - 85 cal) and just had a cup of tea with skimmed milk and a small sugar. Ill eat with my family tonight - probably pasta with a tomato sauce and a sprinkle of cheese. Im guessing another 400 cal. I keep thinking that I should be eating 2000 cals so in my head Im cutting this back but I cant diet 'properly' for toffee so this is my way of keeping a rough tab. Is anyone else just keeping a rough eye? Will it work?

I think you need more protein than this. How are you going to build up your muscle strength to swim, if you don't eat protein? The only protein you've described were some prawns this morning and a sprinkle of cheese for this evening.
Not surprised you were hungry. Swimming for 45 minutes would have given you quite a lot more calories that you could eat.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

Hiya MC - well, Im a fish eating veggie and I will have kidney beans in my pasta tonight. I eat fish nearly everyday and we have quorn and lots of pulses. Im afraid that since being veggie I have noticed that Im hungry more often as meat tends to take longer to digest. My weight gain (not a tremendous amount - I gained after suffering hyperemesis during my pregnancy 4 yrs ago - I am 5'11 and used to weigh 10.5 stones and now am 12.5 - would like to be 11 if I can) has bothered me and because I do eat tonnes of veggies, I eat much more healthily now than I ever did when I ate meat. Im careful to make sure I eat a balanced diet but hear so much about cutting carbs and various other elements from diets in order to lose weight, I feel it would be silly for me since I already omit meat. So, Im just trying to eat less fat and cut the snacks. How many calories do you reckon my swim burned today? I have no idea:money: Saving money, saving the environment and saving space (aka decluttering) - my motto this year!0

I'm just keeping a rough eye and hope it worksI had a late breakfast (around 11ish) as went to the gym then shopping afterwards so ate porridge sprinkled with brown sugar, nuts, prunes and blueberries (yummy).
And now, I'm having some roast plantain with some nuts (delicious as starving) :rotfl:
And hope to have a light dinner around 7ish before I go to bed around 10pm so food can digest.SECRET TO WINNING PRIZES:

Mmmm - that sounds yummy. I think I should buy myself some porridge. Im now rethinking dinner and I have a sweet potato that needs eating in the fridge so could do sausage, sweet pot mash, peas and gravy for dins tonight. So tempted to make it toad in the hole (which does tend to end up as 'frog in a bog' when I cook it)

didnt make it outside today - work got in the way, and then i got upset and ate a bag of minstrels, so that's a faliure for me today.
however, to end on a high note, I just did 1300 more steps up everest! I think that means I only have 1000 left to do by Thursday!!Betty B: The Eternal Procrastinator....

According to https://www.weightlossresources.co.uk 45 mins moderate swimming would give you 390 calories.
No, don't cut carbs, just be careful which carbs! Carbs also include what Eric calls 'carp', know what I mean? Cakes, biscuits, chips, chocolate etc. Yes, cut the snacks - but again, not all snacks are bad. It depends what you have for a snack.
Any protein is good.
Because you're tall you're not SO overweight. You'll get there!Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

Thanks MC! I had a small piece of cake tonightand about once or twice a week we have oven chips (rarely we have pukker fish and chips from the chippie), but I will keep eating pasta, bread and rice - I couldnt function without it! Wow - 390 cals! I think my bmi is still in the OK band (just!) but I just want to be like I used to :A
