  • Thanks guys, I wouldn't have known about this unless I kept reading this forum! I just called up now and spoke to a lovely lady. All I had to say was that I had recently purchased this netbook under the assumption that it was the N450 and she automatically said "that's funny, my last call was just about this!". She offered me a choice of refund or sme money back. She said they usually only offer 10% on mistakes like this but because this has happened to so many people, she can offer £25 gesture of goodwill which I happily accepted. All sorted in 3 minutes.

As these recent posts have mentioned, can always do an upgrade with this extra money :)

I got 2gb of ram ordered on Wednesday from Crucial for around £25 with small discount (from tcb) and tcb just use crucial uk web site and select netbook/acer/model

I went to the crucial site and let it scan the system. It seems to be suggesting a 1 gig upgrade though there's only one slot so surely that's just swapping like for like? It says max memory is less than 2 gig. Help!

Well I've just installed the 2gb stick in mine and it's running fine and being recognised in windows.

I hadn't realised tesco direct worked this late so i phoned and got a very helpful bloke, Steve, who offered me £15 but I said it would cost me £25 to upgrade the memory...didn't want to be too pushy...so he offered me £25! Result!
  • first of all thanks to the op for posting this grabbit, and I did thanks. And also whoever posted about the refunds,I just managed to get £20 back, thanks for that too :).

I can also confirm that yes this netbook will take a 2gb ram card and the system will recognise it and yes it does make it run smoother. I got mine off ebay for £26 and installed it myself in about 1 minute and I'm not a techy geek by any means!

Well despite my best efforts all I could get back as an offer was £15. Apparently they are happy to take them back regardless of whether you've changed the installed software, etc.
I'll be slightly out of pocket when buying the memory upgrade but decided it was worth keeping.
Shame tesco are not being consistent but happy overall.
    :T
