Well the £2.00 went into the post offices pocket & not into mine so I ended up paying for someone else's mistake, and !)
So don't pay for someone elses mistake then, charge the person that made the mistake. Seems simple ot me, go to company that sent the post incorrectly stamped and ask for your money back. This is not a mistake by RM so get cross at the person who did make the mistakeyour point in bold is also moot as the post office did the same thing for years without charging the customer.
So because some people lack the basic ability to understand pricing in proportion you expect me who can understand it, to pay more to cover their lack of comprehension? Really? In that case why don't we all go back to using 1p stamps, as by your analogy they worked out alright in the past, and insist that RM don't charge any fines because we didn't use the right postage.
I'm sorry but I do get cross when someone who can't understand a concept wants to somehow be exempted from it rather than bother themselves trying to work it out.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I would also say, I have used Royal Mail for years but sadly this year I have had three parcels go missing en-route -
I sent five parcels abroad at the end of November, all taken to the post office and (you'd like to think) correctly paid for. Two of them are yet to arrive.
When I went in to hand over my claim forms last week, the chap behind the counter told me that 15% of Christmas mail is still undelivered. I don't know how reliably informed he is, but even if he's in the right ballpark, that's one hell of a failure rate!0 -

He's talking crap
most delivery offices except those going through the 'modernisation programme' (eg utter chaos) are clear and processing mail daily.
you may not realise this but you are aware RMs handling of your items stops at the airport?0 -

Yes, I do realise this. Presumably that is why it also impossible to trace a package sent overseas. Which is why I've now had to buy a second load of presents and a second load of postage, and trust to luck that this batch will get there.
I've paid extra to get a signature on delivery, but frankly, how does that help me? It's if they DON'T get there that I want some kind of tracking system, not if they DO get there!0 -
Royal Mail will be the final dinosaur to be privatised and it can't come soon enough.
A monopoly is never a good idea for the customers and there is no need for it today.
RM is badly managed and regularly held to ransom by the old school bully boy union who are still firmly entrenched in their 1970s mindset. A double whammy spelling disaster. It's only 14 - 15 months ago or so that the Royal Mail workers last went on strike.
Why didn't Royal Mail see fit to keep pace with modern technology and working practices over the last 30 years? That's how long that TNT and the rest have been in business in this country. If RM had kept pace they might just have a competitive business now and one which offers good service.
I am fed up of important letters being lost in the post, two in the last 6 weeks; post wrongly delivered, three in the past two months and extremely cross that my postman thinks it's OK to leave my post on the doorstep on full display to anyone walking along the road. The local sorting office are poor at customer service and the latter complaint had to be escalated three times before the postman could be persuaded to put my post through the letterbox.
I want a reliable and efficient service that is not interrupted by strike action and I am happy to pay more for it rather than pay 41p per stamp for a rubbish service.
I don't believe my experiences of RM are unique.

well your question would really be leveled at the governments. they were the ones taking the profits and not putting them back into the business. the infrastructure in RM is archaic and disjointed

The trade union has actively resisted the introduction of up to date technology and working practices.0 -
